It's been a good few years since I've been here, to this lovely scenic pub/ restaurant. The location is tastefully decorated with plenty of seating options and plenty of room between parties. There's the choice of 3 location to enjoy your time there, patio, bar and restaurant. Staff are friendly and attentive. Food a little pricey, but quite delicious and varied. Lovely fresh vegetables!

The best way to get to the pub, on a summers day/eve is to walk along the canal path of Britain's oldest man made waterway, the Roman built Fossdyke Canal, from Brayford Pool. (about 20 mins) Careful walking back hic :0) It is set on the water in about 4 acres of parkland. If you have a Barge or Longboat, a kyak or coracle then mooring is free to customers. They also have a lodge where you can rent a room with kingsize beds. (Not stayed so can't comment). Food yum..you can eat on the terrace until sunset. The main courses are between £9 and £19. Huge steaks. Pan Seared Sea-Bass Fillet.Oven Roasted Salmon Served on a Bed of Wilted Spinach and Sautéed Potatoes with Lemon and Herb and veggie dishes for moi. Lovely place. Four stars because they looked at me a bit snottily as I had a leather bike jacket on when I went it.

The nicest two for one pub I've eaten in. They tend to be full of pikeys with screaming kids (who…read morethey in turn scream at,) but the Woodcocks is a much more civilised affair. I've been several times at lunch as I work in Burton Waters and have always found the service excellent and it never takes a full hour to get served and get back to the office. I've eaten here in the evening once and it was superb. The food was great and the service was a cut above - I'd normally expect to order at the bar, but it was full table service with a very friendly and helpful waiter. I had Wensleydale chicken which was delicious and my girlfriend had an Angus burger which she reported was fantastic. With a drink and desert each the whole meal came to just over £20 - I'll definitely go back.

Woodcocks, or Woodies as it's known locally, is a great 2 for 1 pub. There can be a significant wait though, so make sure if you visit on a weekend that you're not starving hungry when you arrive. Woodies have just added a Garden Grill, set in their already excellent and child-friendly gardens. The grill is an entirely separate food ordering point, and offers burgers, steaks and chicken in a variety of breads or with salads, all at reasonable prices, and there is a separate bar out here too. This addition has cost a great deal, but has added to what Woodies can offer throughout the spring and summer months. NOTE this garden grill is NOT part of the 2 for 1 offer though.
