Over the ensuing years, a number of "people in the know" have commented about how well-built our home is--and we agree wholeheartedly. Jim built three others homes on our street for a local developer; we witnessed, first-hand, the meticulous, reliable and careful work of his crews during this process. We had braced ourselves when the foundation for a two-story home across from ours was laid, anticipating interminable disruption, delays and an unsightly construction site--but Jim and his crews were efficient, timely, neat, communicative and responsive. We saw Jim nearly every day, finding him to be approachable, highly likable, candid, knowledgable and helpful. Fast forward ten years to 2023, when our home suffered water damage arising from an unforeseen manufacturing defect in materials widely used at the time of installation. Submitting and managing our claim through the manufacturer was an arduous and lengthy process--requiring highly technical documentation--beyond that which most homeowners would be able to accomplish on their own. Jim responded to our call for help immediately and with genuine concern. He examined the damage, conferred about approaches to repair, assisted in gathering the essential technical information, and--significantly--proactively reached out to us along the way. His valuable assistance so many years later confirmed what we already knew about Jim and Diego Bros.Construction: They take pride in their work, value community relationships, and work hard to uphold a long-standing reputation of excellence in Marin County.

Despite increases of 40% material costs due to the Glass Fire, Dennis took the time to shop around, and cost increases over my original quote were minimal. I have a beautiful, strong, stock-straight fence with panels that work with the elevation of the ground. What's more, i's beautiful, Dennis!!! I can't thank you enough!!

After being ignored by a prcontractor who never returned calls nor submitted a bid, I was pleasantly surprised when ca fence not only promptly returned my call but came out within several days. He arrived on time and actually worked up the bid while I waited. To me it showed competence and confidence in that he was able to ascertain the amount of time and labor that would be involved. Both sides of the fence had established landscaping and I was assured it could be minimally disturbed. That's what I wanted to hear. The other fence construction was just that --construction and a lot of disturbance and destruction to the landscaped area. Ca Fence came in and carefully removed the old fencing and carefully and meticulously put up the new fence. The workers were respectful, cleaned up each night and played no loud obnoxious music. It was quite smooth and very professionally done. When I mentioned a slight problem it was immediately addressed and taken care of. I wish they had done the other two fences as well.

I was really against the idea of turf before we talked to Brett, but he showed us that it is really a great first choice for a yard, not just a runner-up if your grass won't grow. He steals our plants and then he wants to put a lien on our house? If you scroll down (and look at the hidden reviews), you'll see that threatening a lien appears to be his standard approach for dealing with unsatisfied customers. Beware. A simple conversation with us could have resolved everything. We just need resolution on the plants he removed. That's all we have ever asked. He refuses to even discuss it, and now threatens legal action. We have a documented paper trail leading back months that clearly outlines our complaints about his employees' actions, his refusal to communicate, and the theft of our plants and personal property. For him to claim that he hasn't heard from us is an absolute lie. We reached out numerous times to try and find resolution with him. In the end, WE were forced to stop payment because of Brett's lack of response. Yelp reader, take note of how this man deals with issues. The actions on this review, and his actions with us, clearly show that this man does not act in good faith. I would steer clear of him. As far as my past reviews on Yelp showing that 'there was nothing that we could have done to satisfy you' - 60% of my reviews on Yelp are 4 or 5 star. It's pretty easy to make me a happy customer - just be open and responsive.

We were finally able to schedule the project and get his guys out to help us finish it. The work went well, for the most part. There were a couple hiccups along the way that did get smoothed out, which I appreciate. The garage is done now and looks great (we decided we're doing the painting ourselves). The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is due to the timing of the project and communication. The project was supposed to only take 4-5 days to complete, but ended up taking 7, which unfortunately cut into plans we had made after he had said the project would be finished. I'd much rather be told it'll take longer than it actually will. In regards to communication, a couple of his workers need to communicate a bit better with the property owners. We had left for the remainder of the weekend when we realized his drywall subcontractor had left, only to realize he left to get materials (never told us) and returned to the house to finish after we had already gone. We only found out after the fact when Elvin called us to ask if we were coming back to the house that evening. We scheduled him to come back the next afternoon, but his worker ended up being a no-show, only to find out his worker DID show up, but never made contact with us to let us know he had arrived. With all that said... I'd still recommend him for your home project needs! JB
