Here's the gist of what I learned: about half of the contractors are honest.. they make the process fun and are a real pleasure to deal with; the other half are dishonest... they string you along, make the process a hassle, and are a real pain. Chris (the owner) and his team are a shining example of what great contractors SHOULD be. For starters, Chris is an extremely kind and responsive person. From my first phone call with him (he showed up the same-day, on a SUNDAY) to my projects completion day.. he always responded quickly, was extremely polite, and very thorough. (He never gives you those weak 2-word text responses like lesser contractors). Chris helped me design my deck and pick out the best materials for my needs. He used a 3D rendering software that shows you exactly how your deck is going to look in your backyard. It was actually really cool, and helped me make some tweaks to the design before starting construction. After signing my contract, his crew showed up the very next morning. These guys were absolute studs. They worked their butts off from 8am - 6pm every day until the job was complete... wow! Many days I work from home, so I was able to watch them. They didn't rush their work, they were very calculated and meticulous about doing the job the right way (a marathon not a sprint mentality). This doesn't mean they're slow, it means they care about the details and doing things right. His crew also isn't a bunch of 20 year old rookies playing on their phones either. These guys all look to be in their mid 30's and early 40's. Men with lots of experience.. they have families to feed, work extremely hard, and know what they're doing. The craftsmanship was phenomenal. The engineering very structurally sound. The design is beautiful and actually has my neighbors giving compliments. Anytime there was an issue during the project (and there weren't many), Chris and his crew fixed it immediately like it was no problem at all. Easy peasy. Chris did what he said he was going to do, when he said he was going to do it, and charged me what he said he was going to charge. Actually.. he went above and beyond what he said he was going to do, he made improvements to the project beyond what was promised, and even gave me a discount at the very end because of a few minor details.. which he didn't have to do. I didn't complain and I didn't request a discount...that's just the kind of guy he is. Incredible. I'm going to mention one last thing I was going to leave out but I think it's important. Every morning before work began, Chris gathers his crew and they do a group prayer together. They ask each other what's going on in their personal lives, and what they can pray for each other about. Then they read a short scripture out loud together, and they start their day. Unbelievably cool. Why do they call themselves Sasquatch? Because these guys are freaking beasts. This is one of those rare experiences where I had a feeling it was going to go well, and it turned out even better than I had imagined. There's a reason why they have so many 5 star reviews. If you're looking to have a deck built in Austin I'm going to help you... skip the weak fluff and go with Sasquatch.

Juan constructed one is such a way that I could put my round mosaic tile in a welded pan with 20" legs. He knew exactly what I needed to do and he did it in 48 hours. Bryan promptly responded with an estimate for a gate replacement with and without posts, which I appreciated so I could make a quick decision on how to proceed with the 5+ responses I received. Bryan came out in person and reconfirmed the rates which were competitive with other bids I had received. The timing worked to refer him to a neighbor who also needed a new gate so he was able to do both of our jobs during the same time. I appreciated the fact he could replace the backyard fence rails and re-use the pickets for eco and cost reasons. He educated me on the pros/cons of using pressure treated lumber for the back of the gate and because I chose the pressure treated lumber, he will come back in a few months to stain it, the whole gate, and the 1.5 pickets that needed to be replaced. He oversaw the work directly. He and his helper finished the initial job in about 2.5 days, ahead of the bad weather. Bryan was responsive and easy to communicate with via text. He sent a proposal via an online app that was easy to review and sign. He accepts Venmo and credit cards, but there is a % charge for using credit cards.

We were looking to remove an old chain link fence (with lots of brush grown in & around) and replace with a double-sided, capped traditional fence with a few gates. I researched 20+ companies and reached out for bids to at least 10; some ghosting or never responding. ABF's request form gathered enough information that they could provide me a pretty accurate budget right off the bat before even coming on-site! I appreciated that they then sent someone out once I confirmed the tentative budget and we chatted more about details and firmed up the numbers and project design. He even measured our car to make sure our drive-in spot was the correct length! The PgM gave honest answers about which materials we should invest in vs. where we could save. The building team did a great job with solid craftsmanship. We even asked if they could help connect our neighbor's fence and we thought we would come out to see a few patched boards... but they connected the fence in the same style as ours with a cap etc. which looked really nice. Our neighbor even reached out to see if they could get their contact info to fix their fence! The PgM was on site every day to check-in with the crew and us and addressed any concerns quickly. Once the project was complete the PgM came back out to inspect the work, marking a few boards to replace that we didn't even see fault with - definitely an eye for attention to detail which we appreciated!
