Very cool spot for photos, vlogs, etc! It's an old shop area in the industrial district on fabrication street that has lots of graffiti, trash, and tires around. I personally like this spot! It's super cool to have something like this in dallas and the shades and shadows can make for some dope pics. Check it out! Be weary of the metal and dust smells in the area from the operating shops nearby. It's not maintained so you'll find lots of trash and mess on the ground, but hey maybe it adds to it's artistic presence?

Took my daughter and her friends here for her 13th birthday. Brought a can of spray paint and tagged some stuff, they thought that was the coolest thing ever!!!

This place has some potential in being an additional attraction to the neighborhood as this part of town goes through a transformation phase. With a few nice eateries in close proximity and the increase in multi-unit dwellings, one can suspect the street art exhibited here will receive more exposure in the near future. Although the neighborhood this space is in may appear sketchy, coming on a Saturday will likely lead you to cross paths with folks who have seen and heard about The Fabrication Yard and want to experience it in person. As we did, the sights you may see here include: family photos, short bouts of live music from a drum set or even video recording vocals of artists using a drone with graffiti beaming in the background. It will be interesting to see what will become of this display of public art.

Perfect spot for pretty much anything, the art and talent itself is everything! We used it for our Family Portraits!!!!

There is the Kirk Pedestrian bridge nearby which makes this spot special for the kids! It has a playground nearly the full length (lots of kid friendly spots the full length) besides the intended kid playgrounds. There are places to sit and lounge. Places to sit and converse. The architect's name should be familiar as he also designed the Milwaukee Art Museum, the World Trade Center Transportation Hub in Manhattan and the Auditorio de Tenerife among other absolutely stunning buildings. Margaret Hunt Hill (1915-2007) was a major philanthropist to a number of Dallas charities and was the daughter of oil tycoon H. L. Hunt. This is a cable-stayed bridge that opened in 2012 and connects downtown Dallas to West Dallas. The stunning 40-story center-support arch is a major feature of the Dallas skyline. It is 1206 feet long, connected with 58 white strands that connect along the center of the bridge. It almost likes like a musical instrument that might be played by a giant! There is no toll to cross the bridge. It is for vehicles only, with the adjacent Ronald Kirk Bridge converted to a pedestrian and cycling bridge. [Review 758 of 2024 - 517 in Texas - 21789 overall]

As with anything being developed here, it was controversial on all fronts. I have to admit I was skeptical at first. Primarily because I'm attached to the original bridges spanning the Trinity river that have been here in use for 100 years. The oldest of these bridges was (and still in use) the Houston Viaduct designed and engineered by a woman. This new bridge was named for Margaret Hunt Hill the socialite, businesswoman, and philanthropist. she was the daughter of Hunt one of the first to discover oil in Texas and instrumental in Dallas growth. Unfortunately, I didn't capture the best vantage point of this bridge but, it's become a good love addition to the Dallas landscape. Check it out when in Dallas

Several shops along the way are most inspiring and could take away someone's afternoon. Myself, a graphic designer by trade loves antique stores. We came across the Griffin Trading Company and was greeted by Steven, who is the store manager. He was full of excitement and enthusiasm while talking about his collections. I felt our small group had a connection with him. In store, there are many advertising collections from 3D dimensional items hanging from the ceiling or rafters to 2D items hanging on the wall. All in perfect or very clean condition. Had so much fun spending an hour getting to know Steven and hearing what his inventory is all about. Would love to own one of his Hannah Barbera pieces one day. If the price is right, I may have to drive a truck out to pick them up. Griffin Trading Company has a website and an Instagram account to get an eyeful of their inventory. You should go look them up. I found this exquisite 3D signage that looked to be in decent condition and was ready for updating. "Ink" in bold black and white san serif lettering with some hint of LED wiring left over. I can easily spruce this piece up and bring it back to life. Most likely will hang it in my office. Perfect for display purposes and jazz up my place a bit. It's been ten years since my visit and I'm back because Mrs. K. has never been here and I wanted her to see it. As I mentioned in my review from before, Dealey Plaza is up there with Times Square and Hollywood Boulevard. Yes, there are others including the National Mall, the Freedom Trail and Kennedy Space Center and the Grand Canyon, but this one is so visceral and so critical to the American experience that it should not be missed. Even for those of us who weren't born before 1963, it's still a critical part of our lives. We got our tickets from the desk, waited in the rope lines and were boarded onto the elevator at the designated time. Inside the museum, lots of crowds. They're doing what they can to balance the multitude of people who want to experience this with the desire of people to actually read the signs, displays and history of one of the most traumatic events in modern American history. It was simply too crowded. We spent about an hour trying to get between the bunches of folks between us and the artifacts, reading signs that explain the chronology of Kennedy's visit. It's much more than just that one day in November 1963, including history of Kennedy's election and why he came to Dallas to begin with. And yes, you can look out the window to see the "x" on the street where it happened. After that, the investigations, the conspiracies and all. All the physical evidence that exists in the American psyche. You'll enjoy the museum. The crowds? You'll just have to tolerate that part. I don't know that there's anything you can do about it. We stopped at Eatzi's on the way to pick up wine for the girls, beer for the boy, and snacks to nom on. The building was hard to find, because it was not well-lit in the front, but it will probably be the only storefront that is lit at all. We walked in, threw our drinks in the fridge and got to work sorting through all the books of idea paintings. I have never considered myself very artistic and was pretty nervous to pick something out and completely butcher it, but I found something that I thought I would probably buy if I saw it in a store and went to work. This was one of the most fun random Friday nights I have had in Dallas. Susan was fantastic and helped us all try different techniques and ideas. We made friends with the other parties there, both young and old. And all of our canvases turned out so well! All of our different styles came out clearly with art that we can all definitely hang on our walls. We will be back here for sure!

Scheduling was very easy via email. I attended the painting class with my sister. What makes this class unique is that each student (about 10-12 students in the class) chooses an image (many provided at the beginning of class) or brings their own to use for inspiration versus the step-by-step group format. The instructor, E, was awesome and gave individualized advice on how he would go about executing the painting and was really patient with beginners (like me). There are a variety of acrylic paints and tools (brushes, knives, etc.) at students' disposal. A few pointers: bring low-maintenance beverages and snacks, wear clothes you don't mind ruining, abstract images seem to be the way to go, and have a great time.
