It felt daunting at first to begin this, but Sandra has made it both challenging, and a pleasure in each session.

Mike does a great job keeping you going and helping you get a leaner, healthier, better you, but without breaking you in two. Don't get me wrong, you get a great workout, but he doesn't kill you like the new fangled "drill sergeant" type workouts. They start off by assessing your fitness level and helping you progress into whatever you're willing to work to be. It is a personal training studio, so don't be fooled by an empty gym, as everything is appointment only, to provide you with the best individualized personal training session. I've done yoga, pilates, indoor/outdoor bootcamps, at home crap, and everything else. I WANT to want to workout but nothing has ever stuck for me to actually stick with it. Make sense? I am 100% stuck on KettleFlex fitness. As with all specialty places, I started with a Groupon. For the first time ever, I actually used ALL of my sessions! I knew it would be worth the membership even if I only came 8 times a month. The "classes" are more of a do-it-at-your-own-pace style which I love. I genuinely feel like it's a personal training session more than a gym membership. There is a list of exercises is put on the whiteboard and thats the outline for the workout. No frills. Just get 'er done and get on with your day kind of workout. Shneur is encouraging and suggests when I should increase weight and helps me to push through my own mental blocks but he never barks orders or is drill sergeant-y. He will take as much time as you need to understand and exercise and never makes you feel like a goober when he's explained it 10 times and you're still doing it wrong (stupid Turkish getups or whatever). Ultimately I have not lost any weight, but my abs are TOTALLY COMING ALONG!! I can now do kettlebell swings with a 53 pound kettlebell. I can actually do push ups which I've never been successful at...and I am getting way better with the ab roller. I love this place and I love the laid back style of the training. I highly recommend you check it out. If you're looking for frills and foo foo crap, this isnt for you. But I'd you want a bomb ass workout, this is the place.

The coaches are AMAZING and being a local mom and business owner, I love that almost every class I go to I know someone. I think the best thing I can say is that the coaches keep you accountable. My dad has been sick so I go through times where I'm a little low and Coach Mike is always sending me texts asking how I'm doing and to try and come in twice this week. Most gyms just want your money and if you don't come in they don't care. Xplicit wants to see you there and if they don't they reach out to see what's up. Makes me feel like I'm not just a member number, but an important member that is cared about. 10/10 recommendation. Also Coach Tasha has put together so many fun activities outside of the gym like Yoga and Hikes. She is my FAVORITE Yoga teacher in our community and love that she is able to bring her practice to Xplicit.

The split between the upstairs and downstairs areas can be inconvenient depending on the workout but it's mostly fine. I've been dropping in here for almost a year, and the front desk staff has always been friendly and helpful with me. My interaction with the owner today, however, left me feeling really put off. First, he gave me a hard time about the drop-in rate and was telling me about some personal trainers trying to sneak clients (I wasn't sure if he was suggesting I was trying to do that but it made me feel uncomfortable). Later, he asked me to not drop my bb on the lifting platform while deadlifting because it's too loud (I've always done that, that's what the lifting platform is for...). I couldn't help but to feel like I was being patronized because I am a woman. I've trained at many gyms over the years. This was the first time I've felt treated with so little regard as a client. I've liked this gym before but I won't be coming back again.

Tamara continues to amaze me…read more As I get older and my body needs more attention, she is always there to support me with continued education and modification for my needs. Since Yelp decided to not show my 2015 review, I am adding it here: I've been meaning to write a review of this fantastic local business since 2012. Owner and Trainer, Tamara Fanning, is worth her weight in gold! Down to earth and caring, Tamara works with you on YOUR fitness goals--not hers--YOURS. I love going to my weekly individual sessions, as it helps be stay focused on more than just my fitness. I have learned a lot about my body. It helps me stay focused on life-balance, nutrition, and self-care--and I really need to stay focused on all of the that. Receiving personal fitness training with Tamara has been better than some physical therapy I've had (and I've had a lot over the years). At a minimum, personal training is really a necessary post therapy activity. Tamara works with your whole body and helps you identify imbalances and muscles that may have been overcompensating for injuries. I love my improved strength, posture and body awareness. Plus, being a dog-lover, getting to hangout with Tamara's well-behaved pup and sidekick, Bear Heart, is a big "pet-therapy" bonus for me! If you have been thinking about signing up for one her classes, please do! The people there are fun and friendly. It is a non-competitive environment, with many of her clients over 50. No 20 or 30-somethings to worry about. Thursday night, Ladies Night, can be a good place to start. The other mixed-gender classes have some great guys too. Everyone is just focused on their fitness goals--again no competition! Don't fret about your workout clothes/style either--just throw on your t-shirt and bottoms--whatever you feel comfortable in and go! (But PLEASE leave the perfume and cologne at home. PU) I see personal training as an investment in my health and wellness now and for the future, and I would rather factor this into my monthly budget than a fancy car or expensive clothes. Being able to work out with Tamara and Bear Heart is a big priority for me!
