This senior's first visit to Function Factory was pre COVID and I had gone because I kept twisting my ankle or falling when traveling. Thanks to Marko that is no longer the situation. My most recent experience was motivated by the need to build back my strength, mobility, and balance after what to me was a lengthy hospital stay in which I was confined to bed. It is a couple of months now and the improvement is obvious. Previously, I would not been able to pass a "walk the line" drunk test even without a drop of alcohol; today maybe even with some alcohol I could. Cannot praise enough Marko as a personal trainer. I would like to thank Corey Doggett with Function Factory for the incredible progress and physical fitness I was able to reach with his informative and supportive personal training. I had lost 35 lbs and wanted to work on my physical agility. Even though I was lighter, I could barely walk up a flight of stairs due to a prior knee injury. Corey started slowly, adding more range of motion exercises that were consistent with my ability. He never pushed me too far and was positive and encouraging the entire time. It wasn't long before I was doing exercises I never thought I could do, including walk up with ease several flights of stairs. When I couldn't make my session, Corey would provide me with exercises I could do at home, with or without gym equipment. There were never more than 4 other individuals in the gym when I was there. I was nervous about working out in public gyms and feeling judged. The environment was always positive and there was always a range of equipment available when I was there. No waiting! I highly recommend Corey if you ever need a physical trainer that focuses exercises to train your muscles in common movements and strengthen your core stability (Functional Fitness). Ever since I started coming into Function Factory, to train with Nick, I have noticed a remarkable improvement in my functional movement. I have noticed very fast recovery, a tremendous ease of dynamic movement doing daily tasks, and an instantaneous and smoother switch between exercise mode and static/daily mode. From posture to gait, I feel like I move better. I'm less wobbly, definitely less jiggly. I've lost weight! I recently hiked the Half Dome at Yosemite, something I could not have accomplished with the speed and lasting energy I had, had I not trained with Nick. I did not train specifically for the hike, which proves the great value of Nick's targeted, tailored work-outs. The very next day after Half Dome, rather than be sleeping in til noon recovering as I did after my first boot camp with Nick, I was up and swimming in the river, taking mini-hikes, and biking through the valley - not suffering or even aching, just a little sore but alive! Through training to improve your function, which is a core philosophy of this fitness center, you can make the most of life, and I am happy to say I have been in 2012! About a year ago when I was considering returning to a personal training regimen, I had been coming from a history of training that overall I would liken to a cattle roundup. With the exception of excellent training at Boston Sports Club years before, my experiences with personal training didn't click with me -- I didn't experience sustained results, and I just didn't feel stronger or more robust. I've been going to the Function Factory for two months and within the first two weeks I noticed increased strength in my legs and I didn't get as winded as I usually would on the elliptical. Marko Sanchez and his staff know their stuff. I've been to many other gyms and I am very impressed on how quickly I am seeing results. Their methods are very effective and really make you sore in muscles you didn't know you had. I've never thought that I would fear a six inch step box. Their understanding of fitness and body-mechanics is tremendous; these guys are pros. I've been training with Marko in a group class for several years now, started as a weight-loss effort, and continued because Marko always changes up what we do during each class, keeps it interesting, and as a result, always challenges my level of fitness. In addition, his understanding of body-mechanics has made it possible for me to keep working out, even with the occasional injury, without making that injury worse and even making things better. Another one of their wonderful trainers (Phil) helped me recover from my ACL reconstruction and get back to soccer, biking and you name it!.
