The escape room was very fun, the decor was very impressive. However, the service was sub-par. We specifically came 30 minutes early with the intention of enjoying a couple drinks and the Bavarian pretzel. We informed them of this right when we arrived and a couple times after, but nobody came to help us out until about 2 minutes before our escape room would start. They then told us we would not be able to order because they would not hold the room available for us for more than 5 more minutes. They were not accommodating at all, considering we had been waiting to order and were there early. We then ordered drinks and the pretzel afterwards, which delayed our plans. read more

We booked this escape room for a Saturday afternoon - knowing it would be a busy time we booked well in advance. About an hour before our scheduled time I received a phone call that the room we had booked was out of service, and there was only one other room open for a time near ours. We booked this room for our 12 and 13 year olds to do, and chose the beginners room for that reason. We were changed to an advanced room, which was a bit of a bummer. They offered a gift card if we didn't want to do the advanced room, but we were visiting from out of state so that didn't do us any good. In their rules, if we try to change times/rooms/etc within 24 hours, there are penalties and fees for doing so. They didn't offer anything but the new room or a gift card, which I didn't think was a great way to solve the problem. We did enjoy the room, and I'm giving 3 stars because the person who ran the room did a great job giving extra clues and helping along our kids so they could get close to escaping the room. I understand that things happen, and I'm a believer in "all companies make mistakes, it's how the mistakes are handled and corrected that differenciates a great company from a not so great one" I can't believe they wouldn't offer a refund since our room wasn't available, and we weren't informed until an hour before our time. We did Contagion and it was so fun!! Having to split up our group (some were infected) was so chaotic but ended up making the game more interesting to start. The drinks were great and I have never been to an escape room that lets you drink inside ,, V COOL! Ben was the worker that helped us understand the Esacpe Room and he RULED!! Glad I finally got to try the escape room! We decided to go here for my dads birthday. When we walked in, the employees were very accommodating and friendly. I was nervous considering this was my first time being "locked" in a room for an hour but once we got started we had an amazing time filled with lots of emotions. We had to figure out so many puzzles inside the room and my dad and sister were contaminated and we had to figure out the cure in order to get them out. I really liked how they give you 3 clues to help guide you to figure out the puzzle. We finally got them out and then we had two extra brains to help us get out the room. I love this place. Came here today for my third visit since 2017, the rooms have just gotten better and better. Working with Lara, the corporate event planner, I was easily able to schedule a large event for my group of 40 across 4 rooms. I always have such a great experience here, you bond so much with the people you are locked in a room with! Great place for small birthday parties or school wellness experiences. My favorite room I've done is the contagion because of the science integrated into it, but Space was also so much fun. We visited Escape Room Indy during GenCon and did the Bank Heist escape room. It was a mixed bag. While it had some cool clues and scenes, it had a number of issues. First and foremost, our group got stuck on the multiple spinner locks - although I totally get that they fit the theme of a bank, the spinners were extremely finicky and complex. For one lock in particular, we had the correct code but it still took us 15min to open it because the spin instructions were so complex. We asked for a hint and the worker said that we were missing a part of the clue, which we quickly found but it didn't actually change the lock combo that we already had (which feels like poor puzzle design). They also had us in a group of 9, and it felt like the room was a better fit for 4-6. They gave us flashlights for the room as well, but half of them did not work so some of us had to use our phone lights. Definitely some cool elements, but overall it left us wanting. The staff was generally friendly, and it was fun to bring a beer into the room. read more

This was my first time in an escape room, and it was an awesome experience! We did the Bank Room with 9 people total. All of the employees working were so friendly, engaging, and helpful. It was clear that each of them LOVE their jobs, which made our experience that much better. Our guide, Nina, was awesome. She was so joyful, enthusiastic, and passionate about her job. At first, I thought it seemed pricey (about $30 per person). However, after going, I think it was worth every penny for the experience we got. Although we did not escape the room, we got very close and had so much fun in the process! It was a great team-building and fun experience for our group. What a fantastic time! A couple friends and I decided to go on a whim, and chose the Bank Heist room. Half way through the experience, we realized it would have been helpful if it wasn't just the 3 of us, as it was a 10 person capacity room lol Lucky for us though, it was very warm in the rooms, so it REALLY motivated us to get moving and get out of there. If we had more people, the heat may have been too much. I do wish the rooms had fans or something to cool everyone off. We still had an absolute blast though! Very challenging, 4 rooms to navigate through, lots of combinations, locks, seek and finds, and riddles to overcome, which led to a TON of laughs!! It was a good time had by all. It was a great night, our "room helper" was very informative, but soft spoken. The only downfall to the escape room was my husband wanted to order drinks, however, no one greeted us until it was time to go into the room. We will DEFINITELY be going again. This was my first ever escape room after wanting to try one for a while, and it did not disappoint! I went to this as part of Gencon and did the "IU Time Warp" room. The whole experience was fantastic. The puzzles were clever enough to be challenging without being impossible, while also making my group feel smart figuring them out. The theming of the room was neat and the visuals were as well. Our game master, Kimani, was excellent and provided just the right amount of help to keep us from getting stuck (such as letting us know when we were missing something very obvious by not looking up). We managed to escape with about 9 minutes left on the clock! In addition, the whole space was very nice; they had a lovely waiting area set up for con attendees with some board games to play for those who arrived early, and some drinks as well. Everyone was super friendly as well. I cannot recommend this enough for those who have the chance! read more

We did two escape rooms there while visiting for gencon.. The first one was a bank roberry and we failed and got caught by the cops..I made a plea deal and snitched on everyone.. The second was the virus one and I was one of the infected but they wouldn't allow me to bite the others..I guess that's ok because we found the cure. Just make sure you don't use Apple maps and go to the wrong one and waste time running to this one.. it happened to us because our friend talking us there used Apple maps for directions! read more

Amazing team event.. if one is looking for team building events then escape room is the place to go.. we were a group of 7 and it was super fun doing bank heist(difficulty level hard)..the decor was a little out dated unlike other locations and the hints were not very helpful either.. we did not realize how time went by.. we started the room with some great peach moscato, canarnet and daredevil beer in the escape lounge.. in the room we almost made it but ran out of time..overall it was an amazing experience and worth our time and money.. read more

This place is so much fun for a group of friends to come and have a great time. I celebrated a friend's birthday here and we selected the 'Bank Heist' story line. Talk about challenging! The rooms vary in the level of difficulty, so if it's your first time you may want to start with something a little easier. The setup of the place is cool, above the Old Spaghetti Factory restaurant. When you walk in, they have drinks and cocktails available for purchase before you start the game. When you are taken to your room, the staff explains the situation and locks you into the room. Your goal is to get the keys to exit by solving the puzzles around the room. This takes a lot of teamwork and camaraderie to get through before the hour ends. You're allowed some hints from the staff outside who are watching you by cameras. There is a tv that is on one of the walls where you can watch the time and also where you can see the hints if you ask for one. I can't wait to try this place out again! Although we didn't make it out, we had a great time. read more

I love my escape rooms, I've done at least 7 of them all in different cities! The Escape Room Indianapolis is located above the Old Spaghetti Factory right down town, and the setup is actually really neat. They are housed on the second floor of the building, have a cozy waiting area with chairs, games, and also offer beverages both alcoholic and non. (Maybe this is why we were a little sloppy on our escape this time around, haha) Keep in mind that there are some scenarios that are "dry rooms", and you won't be able to bring your drinks in with you. We did the Contagion scenario, with Kathleen as our guide who was in the room with us since they didn't have surveillance setup yet. We had an awesome time, Kathleen dealt with our sassy behavior and helped us out without hand holding us. She even provided a soundtrack upon request, haha. The quality of the scenario and the room is definitely one of the better ones that I've experienced, a great combination of different kind of mind puzzles, cool use of technology, and some new ideas I haven't seen in other escape rooms before. My one word of advice is to always manage your time in case there is another room... because there is always another room. read more

The Escape Room is a fantastic facility in the heart of Downtown. The concept of the escape room is not new, but this venue executes it to perfection. I visited The Escape Room with some buddies a few weeks ago. We attempted the Bank Heist room, a high level of difficulty. On arrival, we were greeted by friendly staff who clearly enjoyed and were passionate about their work. They moved us through the waiver process in a timely fashion. After the waivers, we entered the lounge, which also functions as a bar, with which drinks can be taken into the rooms. A wide selection of drinks was available and the service was excellent. Each group is assigned a member of the staff to act as a guide. Our guide was very effective in making sure we understood the rules and procedures and settled us into the room nicely before leaving us. She could be contacted at anytime from the room via a Walky-talky. The room was well put-together and featured several different locks, safes and other features. It truly felt like we were in the 1920s trying to execute a bank robbery. We escaped the room with just over 5 minutes remaining. It was a great experience. Will return to this business. read more

This was the hardest escape room experience I've ever had (and I've done these a lot), which is a GOOD thing. If you pay $20+ for 1.5 hours of fun, they better make it a challenge. A group of friends and I tried the Soviet Union room and wow. It was so tough, but FUN! We were given several clues, which we needed and we still didn't get out. It's really well done and so fun. This was my second escape room experience. I do have to say the decor of the place is on point, they have done a great job here. Checking in was easy and helpful with choosing your game. We went with the Art Gallery, since there were only two of us and we were advised that there was either a super easy one or one that would be impossible for two to solve. In that case we went with a party of 7 with quite the age range, (a few younger kids). With it not being a group of friends over 18 it was a bit tough, it was a family that pretty much stuck together and it was hard to kindof work together with them especially because of the younger age range. Once we got started though about 10 min in it got better. The clues themselves were tricky, but to find them wasn't exactly exciting. In other escape rooms we have been to you had to flip furniture over, look through clothing, look behind items on walls or turn them to find clues, this one was just velcro stuff under table and count items, a little bit on the lame side. Our guide wasn't exactly the most exciting personality we have seen, but nice. I do like the details in the room and the fact they go with the scenario that was pretty neat. Retrieving the painting was fun :) I'm not a huge fan to be asked to give a "five star" rating on trip advisor, this really isn't something that should be asked for one to do. I feel this is the only reason they have a 4.5 star review, and that makes it quite misleading when you are looking for comparable ventures. Asking to review is another story, that is all that should be said by employees not 'give us a five star review please". I think I would try other escape rooms in the area before trying this one again. Don't get me wrong it is what you make of it, and I thought it was quite fun, I just wish the clues/experience were a bit more fun and entertaining. read more

I went with friends on a spur of the moment excursion to Escape Room Indy with a vague idea of how things worked. We arrived and waited to begin our escape in a large room with other groups. They serve beer and wine in the waiting area, which people seem to take advantage of in hopes of getting the creative juices going. Without giving too much away, I will say that the room we chose was unbelievably challenging. When they say look for clues everywhere, seriously look for clues everywhere. But also don't get thrown off by red herrings. Solving the puzzle requires tons of teamwork, communication, and a good sense of humor. We did this escape room over the Christmas holiday with my family and it was a big hit. We're from Los Angeles, arguably the escape room capital of the U.S., and this was on par with or better than many of the ones we've experienced there. Although we did escape, and it was only an intermediate level room ("Jail Break"), we did so with some challenge and we did need a few hints. The facilitator Nate (Officer Stitch) was excellent and helpful and kind. In retrospect, I think we would have liked less clues on the monitor, but we also might not have made it out without them, so who knows? The production quality was very good and the staff were all friendly. We had my 84-year old mother with us, her first escape room, and even she enjoyed it! read more
