Kitty care was very good and they texted me pictures and updates when asked....but two out of my three cats came home with upper respiratory infections which required a $600 visit to the veterinarian....we were required to have our cats up on their shots so I assumed all the other boarding cats had the same requirement....the third cat did not roam around because she was too scared to unlike the other two who liked to get out and roam and those were the two that got infected...hmmmm..... read more

I wish I lived closer to Richmond, because I would totally board my cats here while I was on vacation. The Enchanted Cat is a cat groomer and boarding house, with an incredibly nice and knowledgeable owner, Paula Warner. Upstairs there is the cat boarding, which is a bright, sunny area housing 6ft tall wire cages loaded with cushioned perches, TV's showing bird and squirrel videos, and toys. It's better than where I live! Downstairs is the grooming area and gift shop. She also has cats that are without homes sometimes, so if you ever want to add a cat to your family she can help with that too. She lives right next door so the cats get a ton of attention, seven days a week. Cute place! read more

I will just echo all the previous details in the other 5 star reviews. We have 3 cats with very different needs and personalities. They were guests for 5 days while we moved. They came to our new home better then they left, having experienced a "reset" from their Covid induced timidity with strangers! One of our cats requires an oral syringe of liquid medication daily, and is a very picky eater. One is so timid, and one bold as brass. They listened to and read all the instructions I provided and accommodated each one, sending photos daily along with written updates. Our most timid even left his compound to take a stroll with the others on his last day.When they reported him rolling to his back for pets on the 2nd day I was ecstatic as that is exactly what he does at home. I love that they are allowed out for this strolling time. I think it changes their perception of their "cage" into a safe space from which they can venture out as they choose. I especially love how they can customize each enclosure to provide for privacy or allow for socializing as each occupant requires. I could not have asked for a better experience and we will be back when travel beckons. Thank you to volunteers and staff alike for this home away from home and your love of felines! read more

If you are looking for a nurturing caring wonderful place to board your cat I recommend The Enchanted Cat. I have boarded my cats here on 2 different occasions. One of my cats can be difficult and Paula and Darlene are so wonderful with her. I had to board her for 4 months and would go visit her every week and I can see how much she is comfortable there and see how great she is cared for. The cages are HUGE to where you can stand up in them. I don't care if I lived 3 hours away from them, whenever I have to board my cats I will ALWAYS bring them here. I have so many good things to say about The Enchanted Cat that the best way to share them on Yelp is to list them: 1) The Enchanted Cat has the most astonishing accommodations for its feline guests. They do not use cages. They use what I would describe as studio apartments. I'm 5'2" and the apartments that the cats stay in are taller than me. They are also wide and deep. 2) Each apartment comes with : 24/7 videos that cats like (mice, fish, birds). Its own litter box A Cat bed Toys 3) The room where the apartments are located has multiple cat trees, perches, toys and more than I can remember. 4) The cats get 4 hours of "play time" in that room. Our Siamese mix cat had a great time hanging out with the other cats. The staff does not insist that the cats participate in play time. Our Maine Coon stayed in his apartment 5) The staff gives each cat individual attention and affection. When we brought our cats, I saw that for myself. 5) The staff members are 10000% cat lovers. The downstairs has fabulous cat paraphernalia for sale (statues, knickknacks). They are also incredibly kind. I started bawling, b/c I hated to leave our cats. We were moving, and I knew it was in their best interest-safety first-but I still hated it. One staff member sat with me and asked, "Do you need a hug?" I nodded yes and she gave me a big hug and more tissues. I felt better 6) They are incredibly affordable. They requested a $100 deposit prior to the boarding. For 2 days, they charged $60. When they gave me that price, I was so shocked that I asked them to repeat it. 7) My son and I both got voicemails from them saying that we overpaid and that they wanted our new address to send us a refund (!!!) I was not surprised by The Enchanted Cat's honesty, but it was still a shock. Their honesty is counterintuitive to the attitudes and practices of most businesses in the U. S. I firmly believe, with no ambiguity whatsoever, that 9 out of 10 businesses, any kind and anywhere, would have kept our money. To my fellow cat owners! We love our feline babies to pieces!! Boarding them is stressful! I'm going to make boarding them less stressful for you! When you need to board your precious cat children, bring them to The Enchanted Cat!!!! read more

We recently boarded our senior cat Mia (she needs meds and walks with a limp) for the first time while we were on vacation so that she was monitored more frequently than a twice a day pet sitter. It was clear that the owner (Paula) is very experienced and passionate about what she does. Paula and her staff took excellent care of Mia. When we went to pick Mia up she was not stressed. The housing is very nice for each cat and spacious! Paula even called a week later to check up on how Mia was doing. I would highly recommend Enchanted Cat and would have Mia boarded here again. read more

Who calls a former client and leaves a 2 minute long message harassing them??? She claimed I have been writing different reviews under other names--you can see the other people wondering why she keeps accusing them of being "Christina". I really enjoyed leaving my kitty with enchanted cat. The owners were very kind and understanding of my/mycats needs. The place also has more of a touch of "home" than the usual places that advertise they do the same, but then when you arrive they house the cats in a closet space, basically. Personally, I feel better leaving my shy cat here than in the cities other cat boarding establishments.I'm sure my cat had a wonderful New Years at enchanted cat and I can't wait to see her!! read more

I would caution anyone who is think of leaving their pet here to reconsider. We left our cat there for one week. He was on a special diet and they were instructed to NOT give him ANY other food other than what we left with him. When we picked him he was sick with a digestive problem and it cost us over $300 to get him well. We were first told by the lady, Paula, who said she was the owner, that she didn't know anything about it. She then called back and said that he had reached out of his cage and got food meant for another cat. That's ridiculous and we told her so. She then said an assistant accidently gave him the wrong food which is what we thought in the beginning. I would avoid this place at all costs if you value your cat. I wont even go into the additional charges we had to pay when we picked him up. read more

Just boarded my 4 cats here and had the best experience. The staff was great, knowledgeable and attentive. The facility was clean and well appointed, plenty of room for my babies to climb, look out the window or hide! They spent time in the play area and had a stroller ride! Came home spoiled. Amazing people. Our Calico hates everyone but my wife and me, she loves going to the EC. It is like kids at camp, they don't want to leave. We are in the process of moving, and they have been accommodating to our somewhat crazy schedule. We will sorely miss having them as our sitters. Make sure you know what the charges are before you leave your cat here. Although I have no real problem with the care, I do have a problem paying additional fees when it's checkout time. The manager, Paula, was rude and said we were told of the total charge when we dropped off our cat. If she would have told us we wouldn't have used this business. Paula doesn't seem to want to discuss things. She gets belligerent and defensive when we asked her about the difference in the bill. I wouldn't use this place again at any cost. Update: Fake review??? You know who I am. I don't think anyone would buy that these are fake postings. You are not a schoolgirl so act like it. Do you remember telling my wife when she called to see how our cat was doing that "I'll call you if there is a problem" You made it very clear that you didn't want to be bothered. My cat has stayed with them two times when I have medical issues. It is wonderful to know he is very happy and has the best care. There is no better place to have a cat stay away from home. We went on Vacation out of state for 2 weeks and needed a place to take our 2 cats. We found the Enhancted Cat Grooming and Boarding house thru the internet and were very impressed. Although the drive was an hour away from our house, it was well worth the drive. The owner Paula promptly took care of our 2 cats and made the transition with lots of ease. She ensured she had the proper information to provide each cat with special care. After our 2 weeks on vacation, we knew that we did not have to worry about the well being of our cats knowing they were in good hands. When we returned, each cat had been groomed wonderfully and content. The price also was very reasonable for its high quality of service. On a recent last minute trip to attend a funeral in the Chicago area, much to my dismay, my hotel wouldn't let me keep my cat in my room. I was already upset about having to attend this funeral for a family friend, and now I was so worried about where I could put my cat. Then I discovered this place. From my first call to the owner, I knew this was the place for little Socrates. First, the owner was so understanding and sympathetic about my situation. She was patient with all my questions and then took more time to ask me not only all about Socrates' health history (she has a thyroid problem and needs meds twice a day), but also about her special idiosyncrasies (she doesn't get along with other cats). By the end of the call, I was very comfortable with the idea of boarding Socrates here. This was before I even stepped foot in the place. Then, when I got there, I was even more impressed with what I found. The facility is clean and tidy, and is more like a warm home than a cat kennel. And the individual cat enclosures were giant! My only wish is that they offered cat grooming. Apparently they used to offer it. read more

Love this place! The ONLY place I trust to watch my cats while away on vacations. I have a cat with cerebellar hypoplasia and they complexly understand her needs and behaviors. The Enchanted Cat in Richmond, IL is a really luxurious and friendly place to board your cat. I recently boarded my 3 cats there and was very happy I did. I was extremely impressed with the owner, Paula Warner. After talking to her I knew she was an expert in her field The place was a bit pricey for me, but, totally worth the drive. Contacted them about long term boarding. Very vague about charges (administer medicine). I ignored alot of "red flag" comments interspersed throughout my contacts with them. Though facilities are nice for cats that's not enough. I dropped my cats for first day, that night all the "red flag" comments and observations came to mind & I went back next day and got my cats the minute they opened. When tech went to get my cat, I heard a ear splitting cry of extreme pain and self defense. Told cat didn't want to get in carrier. No vet techs have ever said that but exactly opposite when go to vet. Sometimes things/people are "angels" in appearances only. Be observant and ask alot of questions. Frankly I would not recommend this place. read more

It's cozy with peaceful music playing in the background. It has a home-away-from home feel. Readers, please do not hesitate to board your cats here. I drove from Kenilworth to board my orange tabby here for 10 days. You take the toll road north. Once you turn off, it is about 18 miles off the toll road. Well worth the drive as the care and facilities are both far far nicer than the Petco/PetSmart tiny cages. I love my cat so much and want the best for him. The facility is very clean and the cats get dedicated individual playtime each day (not in groups). Please take the time and effort to go here for your cat. This is so much better for your cat to have these caring people look after your cat. The cages are huge, with pet beds, and elevated shelves (perches) at different heights within the cages, in addition to clean litter boxes. TVs in each cage with cat videos running.There is always someone around to tend to the cats...they aren't just left there alone all day.... Also, there are also volunteer petters (high school girls from what I understand) who come around. Paula and Darlene know and love cats. Thank you Paula and Darlene. Meowingtons loves you.
