To say that Jamaal saved our event is an understatement. Our original DJ informed me the day of the event that he had COVID-19. Picture a 6 hour mad dash on trying to figure out a DJ that worked within our budget (this was a fundraiser) and could DJ at the last minute. Initial planning with Jamaal was great. Then the day of our wedding hit. He showed up late to set-up. No problem, but then everything unraveled. My Wife and I had sent Jamaal a 4 page DJ Timeline so he would be aware of the whole wedding. On this timeline it states all the songs needed.. walk out song, first dance songs, special dances.. Come to find out he only read page 1.. meaning he had maybe 4 songs of our whole list. Days prior to the wedding I went over the file with him. I also went over a printout version on wedding day and he never mentioned once that there was any new information. So when it came time to MC and announce almost anything he was either not at his area trying to finish his set up or unsure of what was happening. To make matters worse, throughout the WHOLE event his notifications from texts were going off during our dance or we would randomly start hearing Youtube Ads playing. His lack of detail will forever play in our wedding videos and although we forgave Jamaal and did not let this ruin the whole event, he made this experience stressful and less joyous than what it should have been. I will not take away from Jamaal as he is a nice gentleman and I believe he can succeed more for events that just let him do/play what he wants as the reception was more enjoyable when he could just play his own music choices. I have had the pleasure of experiencing Jamaal's & Jeff's work twice now. The first time I met Jamaal was when my coworkers & I went to Happy Hour at Bench-and-Bar. Before the music even began I was already impressed by Jamaal's set up; it was sleek & clean but it was decked out with speakers & lights. Furthermore, he was able to hook up to the bar's visual display system. Having the music videos with the music definitely enhanced the overall experience. When it came to his actual DJ skills, Jamaal was fantastic! He was open to song requests, & instead of just chucking it to the end of the song list, he thoughtfully incorporated the song so to maintain a good flow for the music. Another demonstration of Jamaal's abilities was his mash-ups; they were very unexpected & were awesome. Not a lot of people got up to dance because of the time of day but I dance what little of a booty I have off. The second time I met Jamaal was at my boss' semi-retirement party. Jamaal did a great job keeping the event lively without interfering with the overall tone/vibe. In addition to fabulous music, we also got to have fun with the photo booth. The actual set up of the booth was very sleek & it didn't take up a ton of physical space. The console was very easy to operate & the quality of the photos was great. Jeff provided a ton of props so everyone had a fantastic time getting into characters! Jamaal & Jeff deliver fantastic work & it doesn't hurt that they are genuinely kind individuals who really care about giving their clients the best possible experience. I'm going to try to be as unemotional in my review as possible. As a summery, if you need a DJ just for a party to get people dancing then he would be great for that, BUT DO NOT HIRE FOR WEDDING!! I had a meeting with Jamaal and Jeff early on in the planning and then again 1 week before my wedding. They seemed to understand everything I wanted and I was very confident. My wedding was scheduled to start at 5pm and at 4:57 my officiant told the DJ everyone was ready so we were actually going to start on time. He was told in response, "Oh I guess I should get dressed and set up the speakers." My wedding started 20 minutes late because we were waiting for the DJ. Next, for the song I walk down the aisle to I had discussed in detail that it has a long intro I dont like and would like to start the song 1:02 in and he said before hand no problem. Actual ceremony, he started it from the begining forgetting my request. Next, My mother in law wanted 10 seconds of a youtube video to play before the mother son dance started. He played the WHOLE video until someone when up to him and told him to stop and play the song. On several occasions i had to be asked questions about things I had reviewed in details and written out and emailed to them both. Once the dancing part started everyone had a great time and the mix was good. He can mix the music well but did not do a good job with with specific requests or with being the MC and leading the wedding along. Nice guys but they should stick to parties and not wedding that have so many specific requests. read more

FANTASTIC! I hired Jamaal for my 40th birthday bash and he rocked it! I found Jamaal on Gigmasters and didn't know him from any other dj so was a little worried about how to decide on who I was going with but turns out I made a great choice! Additionally, I was on a budget and he was appropriately priced which always makes a difference when you are paying someone for a service. But on to the fun part- I was totally impressed with the whole set up: Jamaal brings video screens and can even hook up to more of your own tv's if you want so while he is spinning tunes the same video is also playing which is great for those who don't dance. He kept the music going all night, downloaded new songs while we were dancing, and could accomplish any request! He set up flashing lights and created a really cool vibe for the entire evening. I was also able to send him a playlist before the event that he had ready so we could hear all our favorite songs. And on top of everything else he is a super nice guy, very pleasant to deal with, and overall extremely professional.
