While in Old Castle, this is a true pub of the people, of the town, the country of Ireland. The place has a warmth and enthusiasm that has few rivals. The other neat aspect of it is there is a small store with many convenient items you may need to pick up in a pinch - right inside the door to the pub in back. Great pool table and ambience. The Guinness is as good as it gets here, and of course there are many other libations to sample.

The atmosphere was perfect! It was early Sunday morning, and there were already a few locals inside having their morning beer and reading the newspaper. I did some exploring because it looks so small on the outside, but you get in, and it just keeps going and going. They are all very knowledgeable about the area and have some amazing stories to tell! The walls of the pub itself also tell a story, with lots of personal photos and trinkets collected over the years by the family. They also serve the best pint of Guinness in the land! It's a great spot to come with a big group of friends, there's loads of space and also a room with a pool table! The pub itself doesn't serve food, but they very kindly allow you to bring food in from the neighbouring takeaway while you enjoy your drinks which is brilliant!
