The location is very accessible to 302, but secluded back away from traffic. The kids especially love the large outdoor play areas. As healthcare workers who work varying schedules including holidays, it has been such a relief to find someone with minimal holidays, rarely closes for snow, and who will be able to provide a care option for the random days that school is closed now that our oldest will be starting Kindergarten. We truly don't know how we would have made it through the ongoing pandemic without the love and consistency they provided for our kids, allowing both parents to continue working where we were needed. The staff here have made us feel like family, and we can't thank them enough.

Our 4 1/2 year old son has been attending Children's Discover Center since Oct 2010. We have seen…read moresuch positive growth and development in this short amount of time. The staff here is nothing short of remarkable. Within days of starting the teacher reached out to us simply because she wanted to meet and learn more about our son and his family! This meant so much to me and my husband. As we all know, kids do not come with a manuals; nor did many of us attend school to become great parents and; yes, some days do seem so much more challenging than others. When "those days" happen and the staff reaches out and gently offers advice or words of encouragement - I welcome it wholeheartedly - After all, these are people who spend most of our childrens waking hours with them. I want to say "Thank you" to Todd and the amazing staff for your passion and dedication to teaching our children !

This establishment charges way to much and dosen't care about the families or children. Most of the…read morestaff are amazing but the office administrator and director as well as the board of trustees, cannot be trusted. They are located right night to heroin alley and you risk being assaulted using the parking lot of a ticket picking up your kids. You will only be treated fairly if they can bill the state for your the primary amount of your bill. Camilia Babson Hayley has helped run this establishment into the ground and personally had a dozen or more staff members leave due to her lack of leadership. They have also been investigated for abuse and neglect in the past and recently where they had to call on themselves. That's a sad state of affairs.

Youth & Family Outreach (YFO) is a wonderful day care. From our first day here I was comfortable…read morewith the staff and the leadership. Friends recommended YFO to us, so we put our infant on the waiting list, hoping to get in before our child was 2 -- the wait list can be long, and there are several factors that play into getting a spot (age, special needs, etc.). To our surprise we were off the waitlist after just a couple months - things aligned and there happen to be a couple openings in the infant room. We have gotten to know the director and staff in the infant and they are all wonderful, and most important, they treat our child with love, respect and care. YFO also has a great food program, partnering with several local farms and providers. They garden in the summer months, too. They can even provide formula, if it is what your child uses. Also - there is a 'therapy room' at YFO where children can receive services, if needed. We are excited to keep our kiddo at YFO through preschool - YFO has collaborated with the Portland Public School system to create the first community-based public pre-k classroom in the district. A wonderful option for kids, parents and our community. Leaving your child at day care can be hard - but it becomes a lot easier when you trust in the care completely! YFO is a glowing example of what child care should be like!

As a graduate of The Hyde School I have to say that a day doesn't go by that I don't reflect on…read morethings that I learned at this school. It has had a positive influence on my life as well as my family's. As with everything in life you either get it or you don't. And that defiantly applies to the experience you have at this school. You have to want to work for the positive changes in your life otherwise it won't happen. The teachers and staff work hard at their jobs and give attention to all students. The academics weren't as challenging as the other prep school I attended but I went to Hyde for the character development so it really out weighed anything else. The sports facilities are now top notch. I am a happy alumni and support the school whenever I can -- there is never a time when I close enough that I don't go visit. I still talk with teachers and staff today because they will be forever a part of my life.

I attended Hyde in the 1990s. I was not a troubled teen, just a kid with self-esteem issues and…read morechildhood trauma. We were told it was a therapeutic program that would help build confidence. That turned out to be a bait and switch. After a summer challenge, I entered the school year expecting support. Instead, I found a brutal, one-size-fits-all system where questioning authority meant punishment. There was nothing personalized or healing about it. You either got in line or were labeled broken. The kids who conformed quickly were rewarded and are still, decades later, defending the place like it's a cult. The school's marketing included slogans about "character," "truth," and "brother's keeper," but it's all surface. The truth is that Hyde used emotional control and public shaming to keep students in line. And they called it growth. I've connected with others from my class through the recent lawsuit. We were all told we were the problem. Turns out the problem was Hyde. If you're a parent, look past the marketing. Ask why so many former students are speaking out. Notice that there are (at the time I've writing this) in addition to all the negative reviews Yelp is showing you, there are also 36 one-star reviews that are hidden because they're "not recommended," and something like 40 more one-star reviews removed because someone flagged them as being 'in violation of Yelp policy'. Long story medium, the overwhelming majority of reviewers here are warning you: do not send your kids to Hyde.

The class was a mix of reading and studying the laws and safe operation of a motorcycle followed by a good amount of driving of a motorcycle on a circuit over both days. It was quite a bit of work! Both instructors, Terry and Willy were excellent and between them had about 80 years of riding experience. They got us thru point by point what it takes to pass both the written and driving tests. It has since had a make over and is all new and according to my husband "soft and spongy". According to me it is one of the levels of hell. In the track's defense, it is in no way at fault that I suck at running and have been stuck on week 4 of the couch to 5 k for weeks. The scoreboard horn reminds us both of a dalek and the writing above it is something very close to dalek... I can't remember what it is exactly... So I get the feeling that while I am struggling to jog around that circle the score board is saying "exterminate!" I have discovered that the track is not flat from my mapmyride tracking!! I knew it was tougher at the Nutter Rd side of the track and thought I was being a whine bag, but according to the tracking... There is a 20ft height difference. Thanks for the hill work. :-) The field and track are quite nice and are used quite a bit. We have seen people there every time we go. The refurbished parking are and surrounding area is super and well done.
