Great bar to order flatbread and beer! AND BONUS: they allow dogs!! This place is so cute and located in The Greenwood neighborhood of Seattle (north of downtown). It's a very small bar, with parking on the street, and can hold maybe 35-40 people comfortably. However, I've heard it's one of the hot spots to watch Sounders game, so I assume on game days, that place gets packed! I'm not a huge beer drinker, but all their beers from breweries local to Seattle or the PNW. The beer I DID try was the wanderlust (an IPA) which was crisp and delicious. Not too heavy like a lot of beer can be. Food is pretty good here: we ordered a pretzel that came with two mustards and also one of their flatbreads that had some pesto, sundried tomato, pepperoncinis and cheese. Both were delicious and paired with the beer well. Would highly recommend this spot for watching Sounders games, or just coming in for a quick beer or wine!! read more

Super cute, trendy spot! It's got a very modest store front! In fact when the Lyft dropped us off we almost didn't see it! Very quaint little spot in Phinney Ridge! The inside is decked out in reclaimed wood. The best part is, dog friendly and they serve food. I will say I was quite impressed with the service here. Because it is so small, they only keep one bartender at a time. On a Saturday night the place was poppin' and despite that, the gal was super friendly and on top of drink refills and staying attentive with the whole bar! And did I mention she also preps the food too?!? The gal was amazing. I can't even imagine having to juggle drinks and prepping the food orders! The menu is really small; only small appetizer plates and flatbread pizzas. We ordered these mini grilled cheese sandwiches, they called them "Mini Melts". We got the cheddar with rosemary bites and they were amazing. We also got the pretzel twist. It came with 2 different mustards. One was super spicy and I wasn't expecting it... I started sneezing like crazy, the spice was too much for my nose! Ha! I would've liked to have cheese dip as an option as well! Overall, great spot! Decent selection of local (and some not-so local) beers on tap! They also have wine, which was the main reason we selected The Dray. This is a cool narrow beer bar/pizza pub in Phinney Ridge! There is not a lot of space inside, which makes it actually come off as much more cozy and welcome. They have a good list of local beers on tap for reasonable prices. Definitely worth coming here during happy hour. They off a good variety of beer types from different breweries nearby, so you should be able to find something you like and something you have never had before. ... The pizza is tasty and actually pretty affordable. They cook it in a small pizza oven, and it comes out pretty quickly! Pizza is thin crust and they provide enough options even for those that are vegetarian. ... The service is friendly and pretty quick. There is definitely a benefit to it being a small and quaint location, not as many people to compete with to get the server's attention. This would be a good place to watch a game. with a small group of friends! It's tiny, parking can be something of an issue, and it's aimed squarely at the beer nerd. But I happily live with all those things. Their beer is well selected and well cared for. The food is really solidly considered and executed. The service is great, and the prices are fair. I personally tend to do most of my bar choosing based on being able to get a beer I have never tried, which makes me sort of a weirdo about picking bars. And odds are, the Dray rarely has anything I haven't tried (trust me, I'm also weird in the way of having tried way too many beers). But this place is easily cool enough that I keep coming back even if I don't know what's pouring. read more

I was doing my laundry yesterday and stopped in this place to get a beer. I have been once before but I really enjoyed my time here. Alex is a cool bartender. I happened to have met the owner and he is very nice and welcomed me to Seattle and his bar. The patrons are friendly and I like the "dog friendly" environment. Dogs are people too! This a really great small neighborhood pub with only a few, but great beers on tap. Their are new beers every time I visit. The bottled beer selection is amazing even though I have yet to order anything but beers on tap. There is not a lot of seating, but I have never had a problem getting a seat. The food was really good, but a bit on the expensive side. Overall this is my kind of place, small, nice ambiance, laid back atmosphere, great beers and good people. I'm so happy I live within stumbling distance of the Dray. This is hands-down my favorite bar in Seattle. The tap list is always excellent, usually showing a strong representation of Northwest IPAs and Belgian ales. I like that the beers cycle quickly, so even if you go in two nights in a row, it won't be the same. But what really wins me over is the atmosphere of the place. You feel comfortable and cozy; the walls are done in lovely softwood; the tables are interesting slabs of tree-trunks; and it's neither too quiet nor too loud. The staff is super-knowledgeable but not pretentious. They occasionally play soccer on the TV, but otherwise the TVs aren't a big distraction. The music selection is generally tasteful (and not too loud) indie rock. Bonus points: free WiFi and dollar-off happy hour. read more

I really like this place! They have several beers on tap and a limited food menu. We shared the turkey sandwich which was solid. We agreed it could have had a bit more flavor but it was all in all pretty good. $9 for the sandwiches with a small side salad or fries. I was surprised they didn't have a vegetarian option for a sandwich and had three meat sandwiches. The menu included flat breads, a soft pretzel, and some small bites in addition to the sandwiches. They are dog friendly! We all enjoyed our beers. They seem to be IPA heavy but this could have been due to the fact that it was Seattle Beer Week. This place has two things I love: Cider and Dogs! I came in here after reading a review from a fellow yelper and she recommended a cider for me to try. I was very excited to check this place out and try this new tasty cider she raved about. When I got there I didn't find it on the menu. I either over looked it or it wasn't in rotation. Nonetheless I got the Ace Apple Cider which was delicious. It's on the sweet side, which is something I like but I know it's not a priority for all. It came in this glass mug that was smaller than a pint glass. Perfect size for me. In addition to that, you can bring your dogs here!! I walked in and was greeted by this big, sweet, chocolate lab named Mr. Mocha. I got a lot of love, which made my day! I love that Seattle has more of these types of bars popping up. It's great to be able to grab a drink with your furry friend and enjoy the company of other people's dogs. This place doesn't serve food, but I believe you're allowed to bring outside food in. They also serve coffee and hot cocoa! There was a pretty good list of beers on the menu. I'm not a beer drinker but the people I were with liked what they ordered. Limited food menu is not a joke. It is just three sandwiches (Tuna, Grilled Cheese, and one other I don't remeber). I was scoping this place out as a place to take the wife and kids for dinner sometime. I won't be doing that. But I will be enjoying fine ales. There is a great selection of beers on tap and a better selection of bottled beers. It has a weird vibe of being a coffee house crossed with a pub. But it works. I just moved from Greenlake to Phinney and I know deep down on a subconscious level it's so that I can be closer to The Dray. Being that I love a good beer, but don't really know what I'm doing when it comes to picking them out, I appreciate the friendly staff that don't make me feel like an idiot because I don't know about beer. This is a great place to go if you're with people that do know about beer but you don't want to hang out someplace as dingy as the Stumbling Monk or as crowded as Brouwer's. I'm big on atmosphere and the head to toe wood panels and the subtle squirrel theme make me feel like I could hang out there all day. They have great food as well, and the portions aren't too big. The Dray is the sort of place that I was instantly smitten with, as a beer geek, a fan of small local places, and a former Ballard resident. In fact, I was ever so sad that The Dray didn't exist when I lived in Ballard. The tap list is small, but very diverse and well-chosen. The food is simple - just panini - but that doesn't even begin to describe the love & quality they put into these sandwiches. The "turkey jam" panini I ate was OMFG tasty - roasted turkey, white cheddar, and bacon jam. Yeah, you heard that right, bacon muthafrackin' jam. I mean, I watched the bartender actually making pesto from scratch in between pulling pints & espresso shots. Oh yeah, you didn't know they served coffee here, too? Hells yeah, with Stumptown beans, and they do it right. I also love the cozy size and woodsy-ness of the pub, and the quirky squirrel motif they have going on (even though having an impressionistic squirrel-drinking-a-beer mural in the bathroom at eye level while you're trying to pee may cause you to believe you are drunker than you actually are...) The vast collection of stickers plastered over the cooler door provide a few chuckles as well (sample: "I'm sorry my mustache is so bad ass.") The staff are awesome, and I consider the Dray a new favorite haunt whenever I'm in Seattle. read more

Eh. The inside of this place had a lot of potential, and the reviews are true... other than the bartender I was the only female in the place! I was also a little put off when the bartender got down on the floor (like sat down in the middle of the bar on the floor) and played with someones puppy (yes it was an incredibly, irresistibly, adorable puppy) and then proceeded to head right back behind the bar and continue serving the customers... never even bothered to stop and wash her hands. Unassuming bar on 65th. For me it fits that niche that exists somewhere between the Tin Hat and the Gaol (although I am a fan of the Gaol). Since I am gluten-free, it's hard to go here and stare at the long beer list. I opted for wine on my first visit, since hard alcohol was not available. It was on my SECOND visit that I noticed, nearly halfway from the top of the beer list, I spied a GLUTEN-FREE beer. A GF beer that I had never heard of! Green's was the name, and I ordered one quickly. As far as I know, The Dray is the ONLY bar in Seattle that has a gluten-free beer option. This alone will bring me back to The Dray, this curious niche-filling bar just a few blocks stumble from my home. read more

Oh, Dray--it's okay to call you that, and leave out the "The," right? good--how do I love thee? Let me count the ways... on second thought, let's not count them, because your beer list is too long to fit in this review. I discovered this place the day after I moved to Ballard. I've spent the better part of June and July here watching the World Cup. I love a bar where I can get a pint, and a double espresso along with a breakfast sandwich. It's like being at home, minus the part where it's sad to drink a pint at home, alone, at 7:00 a.m. on a Tuesday. For some reason, doing it with other people around makes it okay. I've come in the morning, afternoon, and evening. Even though the space is small, it's still comfy with plenty of seating, and a sort of community atmosphere. Expect to talk to the person next to you at the bar, because the people who come here are friendly, and likely share your interest in "the beautiful game." I'm also not joking about the amount of beer this place offers. They have a bottle list of over 100 beers, and rotating handles in the sense that when a keg is out its replacement is something completely different. This means that a beer you fall in love with one day may break your heart the next day when you discover it has run out on you and been replaced. It also forces you to try something new. Ask to sample something and you'll get a taste before you buy. I love that! The sandwiches are delicious and decently priced. I've tried a few of them and they hit the spot. The staff is friendly and attentive. All the bartenders are also baristas, so just because they're only pouring beer and wine doesn't mean they don't know how to make a drink. The only downside is they don't offer pitchers. That's not much of a complaint, just get a growler and ask for four glasses. The pricing structure makes the 4th beer free! P.S Free Wifi. P.P.S. This place is dog friendly. I personally appreciate seeing dogs in here from time to time, but I know that dogs in a bar can be a deal-breaker for some. read more

The location (for me) makes this place almost perfect. I would say that it's awesome... just not super awesome. It's a bit new feeling for me. Basically, I just want to drink amazing beer in a dark, wood filled, whole in the wall bar, with lots of character and charm. There is wood, only not dark and it's nice inside... not many dust balls blowing around the joint. Don't get me wrong, the place is great. I just think it will be even greater in a few years. I love the beer selection. It usually takes me 15 minutes to decide on what to drink. The bartenders are good at helping you out. I've definately come in with very specific request and they have been able to limit the list of over a hundred to about 3 or 4. That's pretty awesome. For example, you could walk in and say, "I'd like something aged in an oak barrel, something on the strong side (about 8ish), and similar to a belgian sour or bruin" and they'd have more than one option... awesome. I found The Dray thanks to one of my favorite blogs Orangette and I thought - this sounds too good to be true: incredible beer selection, sandwiches, in my neighborhood and will show the Tour de France. What more do I need? So I took my husband yesterday and because I rocked his world with The Dray he actually went to an antiques store with me after. Need I say more people? The Dray is a cozy wood bar that is polished and warm in feel - not necessarily rustic. One of the large front windows was open when I was there giving me hope for summer days and knowing this bar would be great then too. Our bar gal was incredibly nice and easily chatt-able and gave us great suggestions and a few samples of beer. Our afternoon passed calmly - sigh.... I love The Dray. 1. Great beer selection - I mean, it's huge! 2. Tasty sandwiches and they serve them late too. 3.
