From back when I was living in Ottawa, this was a favorite hangout of mine. The tables are in good…read moreshape, there's plenty of them, and the food is good. It's nice without being pretentious. Not much has changed since I was here last, which was about 7 years back, and before that, 15 years back? I was in town to see friends and chose this place. We grabbed apps (fries, curly fries, and deep fried pickles). The food is still pretty good, but the regular fries are much better than the curly ones and the pickles were tasty. All three are very small servings for $10 each or $9 each when you order two. The tables are still in good shape and the vibe is good. The service is a mish mash. First, we had Sarah. She was the highlight of the service night. Attentive, friendly, professional and able to switch gears from small chat about her team the Oilers to what the best IPA they had was, and came by to check on us regularly. The next server wasn't around much, and forgot items, then we got Lee (I think I got that name wrong) who was also a total pro. The staff seem really good except for that one in the middle and I think overall their staff is really good. Not sure I get all the 3 stars, but I don't live in the city anymore and my experience is limited at this place. Overall, I'd say go!

(Left a three star review because of incident of restaurant. Don't get me wrong the food was…read moredelicious but this evenings events were just outright confusing, not sure what to rate this experience.) We arrived in Ottawa on our road trip and decided to find a nearby place to eat. We stopped at the Clocktower Brew Pub and were warmly greeted by staff and had our choice of seating. Our server was Sean/Shawn, a friendly man who offered custom drinks, and helped us choose our "sharing" options. He was very enthusiastic and friendly, making our table chuckle at his jokes quite a few times. Sadly the Chef that works at this location didn't come in so the manager of another location came to cook so everything was slower to come out of the kitchen. On top of that, once we got our entrees I was salivating at the mouth to try their Thai Peanut Bowl but they closed off the kitchen because of the persons exhaustion. Not anywhere near the closing time. The plus of this evening was we got a free drink that was originally forgotten because of staff confusion. The pirogies I ordered to share with another group member wasn't filling or appetizing. Definitely going back to the hotel and ordering at least a piece of toast to eat. That was really disheartening after the six hour drive from Quebec to here, and enjoying the lovely environment and vibe of the restaurant. It was not their fault though, the staff present weren't responsible for this issue, but it's still saddening.

This kills me to say but I can't go to the clocktower anymore. I've been going for like 15 years…read moreand even more so when the Elgin street location opened. One to two times a week! We have many great memories here! And this has nothing to do with the staff - they've always been wonderful But the quality in the food over the last 6 months had dropped off a cliff. The portion sizes have shrunk to a pathetic level yet the price keeps going up. Even their pogos had the pogo logo on the stick (two for $9) clearly taken frozen out of the box. I keep ordering different items hoping it will be better but it's worse and worse. My fish tonight was the size of a kids crayons and the meal was $16. Get it together Clocktower

Small little bar specializing in beer. I loved how their menu is split into "Beer" and "Non-Beer"…read morelol. They have lots of canned beers and some on tap. Their "Non-Beer" is mostly wine, and soda pop. They have some hard liquor, but it's limited (and just the regular vodka, rum, whiskey, etc. no liqueurs or anything fancy. I asked if they had sour mix and they said no, so I'm guessing they only mix with soda pop). Food menu is small. I came with some beer lovers. They had beers. I wanted a whiskey sour, but they couldn't make it, so I got a non-alcoholic drink (root beer). I'm not going to fault the place for this because their focus is obviously beer. The place is kind of small. They have some TVs with sports streaming. They had a really big screen that showed the menu. I thought that was weird. Why didn't they show sports on that screen? We already have the menu in front of us, lol. We got a basket of fries ($5). They were shoestring fries and really good, although a bit too overly salted. Their menu looked interesting, but we already ate before coming. Our server was nice and friendly. She seemed to feel bad that I couldn't find a drink that I liked. She even gave me a sample of some raspberry sour beer to try. I didn't like it, but not her fault, and at least she tried. I think this would be a cool place to hang out for beer lovers.

There's a huge selection and all the empty cans are displayed on the wall. Right after work there weren't that many people but it got steadily more full. I tried three of the food dishes, and the Nashville chicken was definitely the best as it was spiced enough. The mozzarella sticks were ok (need to be more crispy), and the cauliflower had a bit too much sauce. However, the food is generally tasty, but it's a hit or miss. Presentation was better than expected for a beer place! Service is quick and attentive. Pretty cozy spot to relax over some beers!
