We visit often with our two dogs and of…read morecourse you see the regular pooches and their owners from around Wynnum and the bayside area, but often on weekends I'll meet someone who's come from across town for a day out in this giant doggie park. The fully fenced enclosure is huge, with heaps of room for the dogs to run and play, trees to pee on and props to do tricks on. If they've ever had enough of that, there are great walks through the nearby bush, mangroves, or along the foreshore. We love it.

Just next to that is a barbecue area complete with tables, benches and gas barbecue which is also covered. On the other side if the playground is a dog run. And what a dog run for pooch. The fenced outer circle is an obstacle course for Fido. The inner fence circle is a mini oval which is the off-leash area. All of this is next to the Woodside rugby and soccer oval. She could tell you which park is suitable for different age group, which park has the cleanest BBQ areas or has the most shade or has easy parking or has the best slides. It's a real eye opener tagging along and watching how kids interact with the playground. Whoever designed the Hamilton playground has thought of everything. There are three different designated play areas. One area is clearly for toddlers because the steps are low enough for them to climb up and there are simple slides and seesaws low to the ground. There's an adventure style playground for the older kids (and short adults like me!) with a climbing net and flying foxes. What I was most impressed with was the miniature road set. My nephew was worried that it was a 'real road' and pronounced in a sing song voice that I should get off the road. Once I explained it was a 'pretend road', he happily raced around the track on a pretend motorbike breaking all the road rules but at least giving way to pedestrians. There's an off-leash dog area attached to the park. This looks like gambolling doggy fun with an obstacle course for the bigger dogs. And when you're tired of running around, pop across the road to Portside for a coffee and cake.

It also has some grassed areas, and is bordered by natural bushland. It is on the crest of a hill, so there are some great views of the city. Residents of Holland Park are so lucky to have Glindemann Park at their door step. People talk…read moreabout increasing house value by adding a swimming pool or being close to public transport. If you ask me, the houses off Lawn Street should be worth a fortune by having this field of gold at their door. Glindemann Park has 2 main play areas- up the hill is for the younger kid. It is mostly a shaded fort structure. Older kids need to manoeuvre down a tricky gully to get to the lower area which has a climbing web, swings and slides. There's also a third area a little distance away with a basketball half court and a small skateboarding square. There are a few picnic tables and BBQs but not heaps. I haven't come down on the weekends but I imagine it would be a really popular family picnic destination. The only problem I foresee is that this park is not fenced. This is a particular issue as the toddler area backs onto a fairly busy road. Mums and dads - have fun but keep an eye on roving, young children.
