Our dogs are not always willing participants for grooming, but the ladies at Salon Fido do so well with them! When we first started coming here they asked me to text them a picture of what style of cut I wanted and they have always exceeded my expectations. After being groomed here my dogs fur is very soft and they smell great. They are very responsive to phone calls unlike other groomers I have used in the past. They also have always been extremely accommodating to help get us scheduled for our appointments. Highly recommend Salon Fido!

We were looking for a groomer because our shepherd-husky mix needed a bath. We typically just take…read moreher to the local dog wash and do it ourselves but it's too cold (and she's too hairy to do in our tub). Salon Fido was recommended by a coworker and was close to home. My husband called to inquire about prices and couldn't get a straight answer. They told him it would depend on the dog's fur and temperament. When asked what the 'worst case scenario' would be, they told him $75. You can either drop them off in the morning and pick them up at noon, or drop them off at noon and pick them up at 4p. I circled the building because I wasn't sure if the driveway next to it was theirs (no signage) and you can't park on Main street. I liked that they had two different doors for drop off and pick-up, you never know what kind of dog you might meet in a small lobby. Drop off was easy, someone was there to take her right away. The surprise was at pick-up....$63 for a shampoo, ear clean and nail trim. I get it, she's super hairy - but she required no cutting or shaving. And she's incredibly docile, doesn't put up a fight - just looks pathetic. We typically trim her nails at home and she just lays down while we do it. So, I'm not sure why the cost was on the high end. Just because she's hairy? She smelled decent, her fur was soft and her nails were nice and short, clearly filed which we don't typically do. My husband picked her up and said clumps of hair were just falling off of her, like she didn't get a good brushing after the shampoo. Overall we are satisfied but we will be looking elsewhere if she needs a bath before it's warm enough to do it ourselves.

A previous client of theirs described Rex and Kelsey as dog whisperers, and they most certainly were correct with that description! Rex met Chance (Chance struggles with male stranger danger) and the way Rex interacted with Chance calmed Chance almost immediately. We were in constant communication via text with Kelsey and Rex. When I shared with them that I was missing Chance, they offered to FaceTime-- how cool! Prior to the grooming session, I explicitly communicated that my dog suffers from severe anxiety, possesses highly sensitive nails, and reacts poorly to blow dryers. These crucial details were conveyed to ensure a calm and safe experience for him. Madelyn'a immediate response was one of overt rudeness and unprofessionalism, marked by dismissive eye-rolling and a sarcastic retort, "Oh, like I haven't heard that before." This utterly disregarded my legitimate concerns and set an alarming precedent for the subsequent care. Upon collection, my dog was visibly trembling and in an unprecedented state of distress, far beyond his usual initial apprehension. It is important to note that at seven years old, he has undergone numerous grooming sessions throughout his life without ever exhibiting such extreme post-grooming trauma. The full extent of the horror became apparent shortly after. Once I secured him in his car seat and returned home, I discovered a horrifying scene: his entire car seat was saturated with blood. Closer inspection revealed that every single one of his nails had been severely butchered and was bleeding profusely. This was not a minor 'quick' on one nail; it was a comprehensive and shocking mutilation.I immediately contacted the establishment to address this grave matter with Madelyn Sanderson and her response was one of complete denial and appalling indifference. She disavowed any responsibility, callously suggesting the injuries were likely due to my dog moving around too much, stating "it happens," and incredibly, instructing me to "get over it." This complete lack of accountability and empathy is inexcusable. As a direct consequence of her gross negligence, two of my dog's nails subsequently developed severe infections, necessitating veterinary intervention and causing him immense pain and discomfort. It is unequivocally clear that Madelyn possesses neither the necessary temperament nor the professional competence to work with animals, particularly those with specific sensitivities or anxiety. Her inability to interact with stressed animals, coupled with her dismissive attitude and demonstrable negligence, renders her entirely unsuitable for such a role. Given the severity of this incident I have formally reported this matter to the Board of Health, my local Attorney General, office, and the Better Business Bureau. I firmly believe that if such egregious treatment has occurred with my dog, it is highly probable that other animals under her care are also at risk. This level of neglect and unprofessionalism is utterly unacceptable and must be addressed with the utmost seriousness.

So that's why 1 star is removed, we haven't tried for a long time to get in here so maybe things have changed but we ended up having to go to Earthwise Pet Supply in East Madison until we moved to Janesville and are now looking for new groomers down there since traveling to Madison for dog grooming appointments is a lot of travel time.

The location is a madhouse with dogs barking and windows open in a small residential area. If the owner cannot handle a puppy, she should not board them.

He is ALWAYS excited to get to her house. I can go to work knowing he is in good hands. Bombón loves to go out to her backyard and play with the other dogs. He likes to follow her around where she goes and take naps next to her. I had taken Bombón to other pet sitting places in Madison, and I could tell Bombón wasn't happy. I'd leave to work feeling guilty. I found Judy's business online almost two years ago and I am so grateful for her and her wonderful services. Her home is a second home for Bombón. I have been taking my puppy (almost 1) to Prairie Pawz to daycare for months and we have boarded…read morehim here once as well. The staff is incredibly friendly, thoughtful, and attentive. For daycare, my puppy and I are welcomed with a big smile and a big hello to us both. When he is picked up, the staff tells us who he played with and how he did. They even are helping us train him to get comfortable in a kennel. During his boarding stay the staff went above and beyond to say the least. They gave him extra love when he would get nervous- they even put him in a thunder jacket to calm his worries. Amazing. We are so thankful. They took Christmas photos of him after a complementary bath which were adorable! They communicated so well (and fast) so that we were at ease being far away. I recommend Prairie Pawz to everyone and will continue to do so! Thanks Prairie Pawz for taking such good care of my baby!

We just spent 5 amazing sessions with Happy Buddha Dog Training (i.e. Dan Antolec) to train our 4…read moremonth old puppy, "Spoon." Dan came to our house and sat in a large circle in our living room with my husband, my 2 daughters and me. We were "wowed" from the very beginning, which is ironic because Dan's demeanor is incredibly low-key. Despite his soft-spoken manner, he explains and demonstrates concepts thoroughly and clearly. Whatever he taught, Spoon learned quickly, and we did too. After the first visit, Spoon could "touch" our hand and sit. Within a few visits he could lay down, sit again, come, stay, leave things alone, drop a toy, and more. Dan also gave excellent guidance on many topics such as puppy socialization, play, etc., sending articles and videos for our reference. He was incredibly generous with his time, coming early and staying late, and sending us thorough written summaries after each session. It's January now and our puppy doesn't like to go outside, but we're looking forward to our next group of sessions with Dan in the spring.
