Great boarding services! We took 3 of our dogs to be boarded for 8 days and the price was affordable.

Green Meadow Veterinary Hospital - Clinic cats!

Green Meadow Veterinary Hospital

(39 reviews)

If you are looking at reviews for the best veterinary hospital in San Angelo, this is it. I am…read moreshocked to read some of the poor reviews about this establishment. However, I am then not surprised as their have been a couple of times that I have witnessed numerous unruly and rude customers expect special consideration and exceptions for themselves. These people are greedy and shamelessly go out of their way to write a poor review from a place that would not give them everything they want at a lower price or even free. I have been going to Green Meadow Veterinary Hospital for 7 years now. I have been to plenty other veterinarians before this one and have not been pleased until I met the doctors and staff at GMVH. More than once have my animals' lives been saved and each time I walk out of there I find myself smiling thanks to caring and concern of the doctors and their accompanying staff. Dr. Blanton, the owner, is the best veterinarian in town. His attention to detail and overall concern for the animals is amazing. He treats each one like it was his own and is always cautious of risks. He is fun to talk to, whether it is about my animal, or even other stuff! He is so sociable and cheery! Dr. Kleman the other associate veterinarian at that location has seen my animals numerous times, as well. She seems so happy to walk into the room! She is always happy to listen to any of my concerns and addresses each one. If any of the doctors forget when they leave the room and come back in, REMIND THEM! They have a lot on their mind as they try to mentally diagnose other problems your pet may have that's not on the chart if you ask while you're there. One review mentioned her saying "ew" to a rat, I have heard her say that before when my pup had an ear infection. She was obviously kidding, I mean it's not like she sees plenty of nasty things and blood in surgery and emergencies, I'm sure she could handle looking at a rat. So let's stop being so serious. Dr. Schulze is one of the newer doctors and has seen my dogs plenty of times already. I love how informative he is! I will admit he can stumble around on words occasionally but that is expected from someone fresh out of Vet school! He will always be willing to explain any problems and how they go that way as well as any jargon (medical terms) that may be used to describe the animals ailment or condition. He is extremely thorough and considers every possibility when tackling a diagnosis. Very friendly and attentive. I have not seen Dr. Cooper since she moved to the second clinic on Main however when I have seen her she has been very friendly and happy. The only thing that can make me think of who would write a poor review directed at her is that she doesn't tolerate stupid questions. Granted no question is stupid when it comes towards your animals health, but when it comes towards questions that question her ability as a doctor, of course she might get upset, just as any other doctor anywhere would! The staff is a wonderful bunch of people. The secretaries are cheerful and greet me. Over the phone they are very helpful. It is expected for a slip up every now and then, we are all human. They work all day with people and there are plenty of impatient people that come in and take their misplaced anger out on them! (As I stated my experiences above). As long as patience and kindness is presented to them, they will return the patience and kindness to you. A couple that always seem to brighten my day and help are named Sonia and Shelby, I believe. The technicians at GMVH always seem happy to be there. They love on my dog when they get the chance and love seeing animals. They work very well with the doctors and do much of grunt and dirty work as one would expect. They are very friendly in rooms and when the doctor is not in they are social. They make sure I have what I need, and are sure to answer any questions I have. If they do not know, they will not hesitate to ask the doctor/bring them back in, rather than guessing at an answer that could be wrong. They paid extra attention to my cat when she had to stay a few nights with an IV and loved on her exceedingly. The atmosphere at Green Meadow Veterinary Hospital is far better than any others. I have not once heard arguing or any bad things whilst waiting. In fact, the technicians joke around a lot and even make me laugh! Even in the rooms the doctors and technicians seem so close that they have even kidded around with each other! It's such a happy atmosphere and everyone seems intent on seeing that my concerns are out to rest and that my pets' healths are put back in good condition and kept that way!

We STRONGLY advise against taking your pet here for any serious medical issues or emergency care. My boyfriend's dog became ill on Thursday, August 20th. We called and were told we could bring her in that day. After dropping her off around 4:30 PM, Dr. McCabe informed us she had pyometra and required emergency surgery. They kept her overnight on IV fluids (with no staff on-site to supervise her overnight) and scheduled the surgery for Friday morning. Following the surgery on Friday, they informed us she needed to stay another night. Saturday came, and we received no updates at all. When we drove to the clinic ourselves to check on her, we were simply told, "Oh, we meant to call." When they brought us to the back, she immediately perked up, happy, and acted completely like herself. Despite her visible improvement, the vet wanted to hold her for two more nights, setting her release for Monday morning. On Sunday, they texted us to report she was doing very well, cheerful, and walking around. We were relieved and eager to bring her home the next day. Everything changed Monday morning. First, they called to say she wasn't doing well and needed to stay longer. Two hours later, they called asking for permission to perform a plasma transfusion. We agreed, believing it would help. Less than three hours later, we received a call stating she had passed away. No explanation was provided. No insight into what went wrong, and no offer to let us come see her before attempting the transfusion. She died alone in a cage surrounded by strangers, and we were robbed of the chance to say goodbye or comfort her in her final moments. When we went to pick up her body, the vet didn't even come out to speak with us or explain what happened. To go from being repeatedly reassured that she was improving to suddenly receiving a death notification with zero transparency is completely unacceptable. PLEASE take your pets elsewhere. They deserve far better care, communication, and compassion than what this clinic provides.

You can tell they really care about your animals, their office is extremely clean and they even played with my 10-month-old son during the appointment. They were super gentle with Vivian. We ended up getting her puppy shots DHPP+LEPTO, Rabies and a dewormer. Totaling out to $108. Amazing staff, amazing prices, extremely quick and efficient while being soooo kind.

Absolute nightmare of an experience for our injured cat. We took in a feral male cat about two…read moreweeks ago ages 6-9 months old and noticed his back right foot was smashed and bloodied due to an injury that was diagnosed as a circulation strangulation on his foot which cut off all blood flow and essentially killed his movement in that foot since our first appointment on 02-24-2025. We were told his foot would be able to be rehabbed and saved by following an extensive cleansing and care routine each night with medicines and materials that they merely suggested and did not provide at all. They failed to send us home with all the medication they stated he needed to rehab including bone growth and flea medication during his recovery. His foot was essentially developing a rotting sore that overcame his entire leg and is now severely infected and causing intense pain for our cat. I had a follow up appointment on 02-28-2025 and the doctors saw every what we did and advised STILL at that point that the leg could be rehabbed and eventually be used again. They wrapped his leg and put tape on his flesh then sent us home to remove and re wrap the leg after we cleaned it but we could not due to them using tape that could not come off from his skin without ripping his flesh which they had to do when we took him back for a THIRD time on 03-01-2025. When the emergency doctor on call that weekend saw his leg at that point she immediately suggested amputation because of the severity of our cats leg to that point but would not classify it as an emergency situation to perform the amputation that day and denied us services until Monday since it was deemed a non medical emergency. The staff was extremely friendly except for the receptionist and weekend doctor. I would highly advise to always get a second opinion when visiting this clinic and would strictly resort to only using them as a last ditch emergency option. They care more about how much they charge versus what can be done for your animal and it was all to prevalent with the handling of care for our pet. I am extremely disappointed with the moral Principles of this vet clinic and would never recommend them as anyone's last option for care for your fur baby unless they were the last clinic on earth. Below is a photo of the condition our cat has been suffering in due to the incompetence of this clinic. *graphic warning*

Let's get started with Concho Paws and their staff, more importantly, their manager. Not gonna name any names but I will say, she is by far the worst possible person to run this place, the attitude and rudeness from this lady is honestly kinda outlandish. The conversations I've had with this lady has been nothing but disrespectful and rude, giving short answers and avoiding questions that I legitimately had for our puppy. Now onto the rest of their staff. There is two different buildings for Concho Paws, one where they keep all the older doggies at that are in the rows, and the other where they keep all of the puppies and really cute doggies to make sure they get picked up right away because, oh also, you HAVE to go to the other building if you really want to look at any other puppies because they keep them in the very back and have to have authorization to look at them. The staff that are at the actual animal shelter are beyond sweet an amazing, but honestly it doesn't really mean anything. Unfortunately, we did have to rehome our puppy due to us being too busy and our puppy having serious separation anxiety issues, hence being to Concho Valley Paws separating her and her mother right when they came into the shelter together at 9 weeks old, make that make sense. When we were trying to find places to rehome her we couldn't find anywhere in the area and the last thing that I wanted to do was bring her to this horrible place. My wife ended up calling them anyways, one of the girls that has always had attitude with us answered the phone and gave my wife nothing but horrible answers and rudeness, and she also said, "If you bring her back here we're gonna euthanize her" interesting that you really would put down a 16 week old puppy that could go to a much better home but they wouldn't even attempt. Overall, I think adopting from this place is fine, it is an animal shelter and every dog deserves to be in an amazing home, but all this place really cares about is money and making sure they can get by by making euthanizing lists. If you really want to adopt an animal, where you aren't going to have issues with paperwork, or getting their shot, or literally anything at all, go to Abilene which is about an hour away. As well as their website still states that they are a NON-euthanizing shelter, yeah that bs too. Hope this helps all the people that are animal lovers and wants better for this shelter.
