Just had an awful experience w/ the grooming service! The groomer doesn't know what she was doing or just didn't care. She cut so much of my dog's hair that he is almost hairless! Yes, he has some knots, but cutting almost all hair is just unbelievable! Of course it's easier for her, but the dog is shivering! Also, the remaining hair is patchy, not an even cut. My dog also had water in his ears that he couldn't seem to get it out. Plus, when making my appointment online, the cost was $61. They ended up charging me $89! This was my 2nd visit to the dog house. I have a Persian cat and fully understand it is difficult to groom cats. The woman warned me she may not be able to groom his whole body and told me she'd "rather deal with a nasty pit bull than a nasty cat any day" when i told her i wanted the works. This is what i got back. An uneven, lopsided chop. His eyes are still dirty and i doesn't look like they cleaned them, and if they did it wasn't well. Luckily I'm an easy going person and can laugh this off but the next customer might not be the same. Don't take long haired cats here. read more

I recently got my first puppy in July. As a new "dog mom", I've pretty much been a nervous wreck and super protective of my new pup kid. It's just in my nature to worry about who I'm going leave my dog with and that particular persons general character and how they treat animals overall. With that said, Lisa Marie and her staff, particularly Heather, are spectacular. They catered to my dogs every need when I dropped him off for the first time to be groomed. I explained to them that he can sometimes get nervous and nippy during grooming, and they were extremely understanding and reassured me that they will take good care of my dog. Upon picking up my dog, I was pleasantly surprised to see Heather snuggling and petting Jolly on the floor. Let me tell you, that's all I needed to see. It was refreshing to see that Heather was taking time out of her busy grooming schedule to make sure my dog was safe and comfortable. As a new pet owner, I would recommend The Dog House to all owners of dogs and cats (they groom cats as well.) If I could give this review no stars, I would. I took my 8 lb miniature shih tzu to this establishment, today March 14, 2015. What a fiasco. After waiting three hours, he was not done, he was traumatized, and they charged us $62 for a haircut...that was obviously unfinished. As I was leaving, I overheard a man go into the back and say, "They came all the way from Clarksboro, why the hell did they come here?" Not only was this a rushed and botched haircut, they clearly overbooked.....as I was told, "Today is Saturday, we book more dogs on Saturday because people work on weekdays"...that being the case, after three hours--an 8 lb dog couldn't be completed? His head was untouched, as was his underneath. His nails weren't clipped (they were supposed to be) and his eyes weren't even cleaned...(they discharge, and need to be cleaned almost daily. ) His ears weren't even touched and his tail is a crooked sight! But, the worst part, my little dog was clearly traumatized--for having to endure 3 hrs of neglect and ineptitude. He had a very obvious personality change--and, after 5 hours at home, we began to see him acting like his former self. What a scam, too. $62.....for this? They obviously want to overbook, after all--even little dogs bring in at least $62. Making money is more important than the well-being of a dog. (The more dogs they book....the more money they bring in.....) NEVER NEVER AGAIN! One other concern I shall add...upon picking up my little dog, I was shocked to see a cat (bigger than my doggie) roaming free in the establishment. This was inappropriate, and added to my dog's trauma....and distressed the other dogs, too. My poor little doggie. read more

Part One- (took him to get shampooed and trimmed) Now to the review of my dog's 3rd and final visit. I took my dog to get a shampoo and trim. I asked they could cut his face shorter than his body. That didn't happen. His eyes weren't cut at all. His body was trimmed ok. Not like the first and second time I took him here. When I picked him up, he wasn't himself. I just chalked it up to him being cold from having less hair. On the ride home he just laid down on the back seat. This was not the way he acts in the car. He ALWAYS wants to put his head out the window. Once we got home. He just laid in one spot. Friday he seem to be having trouble getting up. It looks like he is having trouble with his back or both back legs. I called this place to see if something happen there. Of corse, I was told nothing happen there. All I know is, I took my dog to get shampooed and trimmed and he came home hurt and now I must take him to the doctor to find out why he can barely walk, and is lethargic. Part Two- (What happen at the doctor) at Red Bank Vet Hospital. Doctor says it looks like trama. He will have to spend the night or two. I will NEVER take my dog to The Dog House again. read more

When I first took my dog here, I loved it. He got a great haircut, the people seemed nice, and it was not too expensive. The first time, I ended up paying 72$ for the bath, cut, and nails of a standard labradoodle. The second time, I walked in to pick him up and he looked great. However, the gentleman that works there did not see us walk in. I had to witness this gentlemen kick my dog into a crate and call him an "idiot." When it was time to pay, the total was 82$. This was 10$ more than last time, and it was supposed to be 10% off for scheduling ahead. After some negotiating, which should not have been necessary, I got to the correct price. I made the tremendous error of bringing my dog here for a grooming, but I will not make that mistake ever again. It is bad enough that I was charged a high price for a shoddy clip job, but my dog Max, who never had fleas in his life, came home infested with these vermin. The owner, Lisa Marie Varsaci, lets her pet cats roam freely around The Dog House, and they rub up against the animals coming in to be groomed. Ms. Varsaci believes that the only safe and effective flea treatments are organic shampoos and dips, but, in reality, these products just don't work. As a result, her friendly cats are loaded with fleas, which they generously share with the customers' pets. That is how Max picked up fleas inside her shop. When I called Ms. Varsaci to discuss the problem with her, she got extremely nasty with me and she threatened to call the police and tell them that I was harassing her. Then, she hung up on me. I am going to report her to the Camden County Health Department, and I strongly recommend that anybody with a similar experience do the same. And I am cautioning everybody else , do not bring your pets to The Dog House, because you will definitely regret it. read more

This was a wonderful experience from start to finish, which is a relief when one is new in town... I left a message on their voicemail and received a return call from Lisa Marie shortly thereafter. We had a lovely conversation and I was put at ease just chatting with her (yeah... I'm one of "those" pet owners, hahaha). She kindly accommodated me with an appointment only a few days out. The shop is relatively small and full of pet treats, toys, and supplies. I met one of the staff members first (Elise? Alissa? I wish I could remember...) who was an absolutely charming (and very stylish!) young woman who immediately came from behind the counter to greet me and my pooches. She pet and fussed over them so much that I felt I was leaving my pups with good people. When Lisa Marie came out, she was as friendly and likeable as she was on the phone. She also pet and fussed over the dogs; I'm sure they thought they were royalty! My dogs are both shorthaired and don't require a "cut," so it wasn't long before I was called to pick them up. Before they were brought out to me, Lisa Marie presented me with a bag Easter goodies for them! I was blown away by this generous and thoughtful gesture! My doggies were happy and good-smelling (yay!) with manicures and shiny coats, decked out in their bandanas... it was too cute! And I was shocked at the better-than-reasonable price especially considering that I asked them to basically give them "the works" (or, as I like to call it, "The Full Silkwood"). I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND going to The Dog House (I love the contextual irony in that sentence)! They really do love your pets and treat them like they were their own. read more

This place is the absolute best!!!! They love your pet as much as you do. I have a pug who absolutely HATED being groomed until I found the friendly and attentive staff at The Dog House. Now, I take him and he just happily trots right in like he lives there. They take their time with him and give him "the works" for a very decent price. I have had nothing but good experiences with Lisa Marie over the past 10yrs. She has always treated my Lhasa Apso's (Girlfriend and Queen B) great with good results and great service! I cant imagine going elsewhere...her experience and her proper way of handling business are exceptional and it makes me feel at ease while my dog isnt with me when getting groomed. We have been taking our dog Sophie here for over 10 years. The staff has always been really friendly and especially kind to Sophie who has issues with being touched as the result of being abused by a former owner. With much patience and love, the groomers have transformed the grooming experience for her. She always comes out looking fresh and smelling clean. i found this business to be very very unprofessional!!! 1st thing wrong is you can't get a direct answer out of them, when it comes to anything.. other groomers 35.00 for full groom with bows and nail trim and anal glands done. 2nd- they don't ask for proof that your dog has had its bordetella shot, which they have to have to be @other dogs., her unprofessional answer was, "well they aren't foaming at the mouth". i am a nurse and i found that answer bizaarrrr!!!!!!!at the animal welfare they will not take the dog without proof. THERE R MEASURES THAT CAN BE TAKEN TO MINIMIZE THE EXPOSURE-TO THE VIRUS-INFECTIOUS BRONCHITIS-HIGHLY CONTAGIOUS DISEASE OF THE RESPIRATORY TRACT-LIKE THE FLU IN HUMANS- EXPOSURE IS ALL THAT IS NECESSARY ANYWHERE THERE IS DOG TO DOG CONTACT-LIKE @THE GROOMERS. THEN SHE CALLED MY MOM A LIAR, THAT THE DOG WASN'T THERE 7 HOURS. 4th- they said they expressed the glands but i know they did not, cause she was scooting her butt across the rug the next day. had to have them done the next day somewhere else, and the vet said, they were not done. 5th- for 55 dollars they did a terrible job, the lady said she would trim the tail and she didn't, her hair was cut crooked on her head, she had to re-done the next day by my brother, he didn't see a difference when she came home, 55 dollars later. 6th- and my main problem is my mom was quoted @ 35 and was charged 55 and that would be o.k. if they were more professional when taking care of peoples loved ones, and not take advantage of my mom, a senior, and not doing a service that you are paying them for and then when you call them to question what they didn't do i was hung up on before i could even tell her what they did wrong, our complaint, and when you have a business you have to take complaints so you can improve your service, i had called @ 15 times and she kept hanging up on me rather than be professional and hear our complaint of the 6 things they did wrong, and 6 is 6 toooo many. should not be @ animals- doreen read more

Many Many Thanks to Lisa Marie for a wonderful job and for taking special care while grooming my two Granddogs! Since the one is special needs(blind) she has not had a favorable reaction to a bath, let alone a complete grooming, that was until I brought her to The Dog House! Both Gwendolyn and Snuggles look spectacular and are full of energy since all of that hair was shaved. Terrible Experience- Exorbitant Prices, No Price Sheet, Different price every time you go, last straw- butchered my pets cuts- Gave them both a LIONS CUT that I did not ask for. They look ridiculous.
