Once purchased, you find that on short tracks you get to drive a late model style car. Completed my experience on Sunday October 6, 2014. Pros: Well organized, very safe, cars are set up good, location was good. Cons: you won't go fast, they yell at you the entire time you're on the track, if you have ever driven on a racetrack or have any drivers training, don't bother! Experience is not what's advertised. The hour long "drivers training" is really 20 minutes of how if you don't follow their strict rules they will kick you out. Fair enough, this can be dangerous. Then 20 minutes about how you're really not going to drive fast, disgusted as training. I understand if they didn't take safety precautions the cars would all be wrecked and probably a lot of hurt people. My issue is you have to coast through the turns and accelerate in the straights, but they use cones to mark where you can step on it and have to slow down. I estimate you coast on about 60% of the track. If you don't follow the rules, they will kick you out. In my case we had a VERY slow driver, so I got to follow him for much of my 10 laps. Why, you can only pass when they say and in the straights. Again, I know this is for safety. They have a "personal spotter" for each driver. We had one for three cars and they yelled commands constantly, but most of the commands I didn't know who they were talking to, even though we had car numbers. My recommendation: if you have never driven remotely fast or only owned a slow car, this is for you. Or just do the ride along experience, they rip it for you in a real NASCAR. The cost is probably in line since the cars are expensive, but you still don't get to drive fast, so keep that in mind. Oh, DON'T bother with the insurance unless you are a really bad driver. It's so regulated you would have to purposefully wreck the car. It's an easy $60 in their pocket.

The lady that hired me was fired a few weeks after camp opened, and this dude that absolutely hates me took over. He let me go by not putting me on the next schedule so he could hire his girlfriends best friend (he was the supervisor in the kitchen and his gf worked there as well, obv bc he hired her lol). He was too scared to fire me in person bc he knew what he was doing was wrong and I'm pretty sure illegal. Anyways, this guy constantly harassed me, always pulling me to the side saying I'm not going fast enough when I was literally the only one actually working because him and his gf were always foolin around. All of my shifts were at least 8 hours and I was never ONCE given a break. No 10 minute break no lunch no nothing. However each day they took 30 mins out of my paycheck for a "lunch" that I never had. It is now 10 years later and I still have not received the backpay that is owed. When you see them hiring this summer on Craigslist, DO NOT APPLY!!!

I wanted to "Moon Up" at the very last minute and all races were sold out. The Woman's Moon Half Marathon was the only race nearby left that I could possibly race to accomplish my 3 in 3 days goal. Upon finding out that they were sold out I took a flying leap and emailed the link on the page knowing full well that it being the 4th of July holiday I had a rats chance of hearing back. Not only did I hear back almost immediately, they assured me I would get in although they were AT CAPACITY. They told me how to get preregistered for the race, they answered all of my continued email questions. Beyond that, they put on an amazing race. It was super hot (I heard it was hotter last year), but it was still hot, the aid stations were prepared with misting stations, ICE, cold iced sponges, COLD water, Nuun, and great volunteers. This race would've had people passing out right and left without that proper planning. These are smart runners who care about the competition as well as the wellness of the runners. It was great to be a part of the race.

It was formerly a railroad terminus where trains would dump their loads of logs into the bay to be taken by boat up north. There are still some tracks and lots of historical placards telling about this, and there are more placards about the many kinds of wildlife in the area.
