I found Karl through the Inspectapedia website and asked him to design a septic system for my property. The first step to getting approval from the county is conducting a soil profile and perc test which I asked Karl to do.
I can't say enough good things about the guy. There was no way to get an excavator to the lot so he dug the trenches and holes by hand. Karl is not only hardworking, he is also very knowledgeable, he pointed out where my neighbor had destabilized the slope by under cutting the land under my lot. (2 other engineers hadn't said anything about it). Karl is also extremely honest; even though he it meant wouldn't get the fee for designing the system, Karl told me I should trench the 300' to connect to the main sewer line even if it cost more than a septic system.
One other thing that made an impression on me was Karl's very calm personality. The county inspector was being unreasonable which was really irritating me and I felt that a major argument was about to erupt when Karl stepped in and calmed things down by telling the inspector he'd do whatever the inspector needed and that he was in charge etc.. I was amazed how well it worked so much so that the inspector was being friendly by the time he left.
Yelp doesn't have a category for civil engineers so I listed him under structural engineers. But he is actually a civil engineer that specializes in soil issues and testing ie septic systems, foundation, slope failure etc... read more
