I wish I was closer to either location of the Detox Kitchen so I could come more often! But I'm a big fan - if you're looking for healthy options that taste good, this is a good bet. The upstairs part is where they have food and drinks - I only came in the morning, and they had a beautiful assortment of baked goods (some healthy, some not as healthy - but they all looked equally wonderful). They also had a station where you could pick yogurt, porridge or muesli and add toppings, and they also had 3 kinds of toast (one with nut butter and fruit, one with avocado and cilantro and pumpkin seeds, and cherry tomatoes, cucumber & hummus). The toast is gluten-free.
The prices listed are for takeaway, if you want to eat there, there's a 20% VAT surcharge. I was tempted by so many different (and healthy) breakfast options, but went with the avocado toast, which was £3.55 -- not super cheap for breakfast, but not super expensive either. When I got the container, it looked a bit sad to me -- just a piece of rye toast with half a sliced avocado and cilantro, but when I actually ate it, it was delicious. Sometimes less is more -- and when you have good quality ingredients, it shows. I'd definitely come back here to try more things for breakfast, and the salads that were pre-packaged looked delicious and healthy, and reasonably priced.
They also sell granola and a quinoa-granola (beetroot flavor, and a ginger-goji), I picked up the larger bag of the quinoa-granola and I'm excited to try it.
You can do takeaway or dine inside and the decor is lovely, with big windows, natural light, and a big living wall. It's the kind of place you could come and do work for a bit or sit and read while you have breakfast or lunch.
They have a studio with classes downstairs: yoga, barre, and other classes. The room is small, but the hardwood floors are nice, they have mats that are included in the yoga class, and the walls are mirrored so you can see what you're doing. I only took the yoga class and it was fine - more stretching than a fast, dynamic workout, but still a nice way to start out the morning. The only downside to the morning yoga class is that the music is really loud upstairs and it's a bit distracting to the yoga class when you're trying to take deep breaths and clear your mind.
All in all, a great place to pick up breakfast or lunch and with a wide selection of healthy items. I'll edit my review once I have a chance to try the salads and take more classes! I'd give this place 4.5 stars - it is a nice concept to have classes and then the option to get healthy food afterwards. I just wish the walls were a little more sound-proofed, but overall great place and I'll be back here again! read more
