We hired them to build a front porch, redo our walkway pavers, and expand our driveway from a 1 car to a 2 car driveway. If we could go back in time we would've hired someone else for the job. A few things that we learned from working with these guys: 1. Dave will do a walk through and tell you all the things that will be done and then his workers will do half of them 2. They'll draw you up a rendering of what the finished product will be but the subcontractors they send will build something different - our front portico is drastically different than what we asked for and what they promised us they could do. The worst part is they never told us about the change. We only noticed after all the major construction was done 3. You will have to inspect their work EVERYDAY and then send them a list of things that need to be redone or fixed - the person that does the deck finishing is way too comfortable cutting corners. He literally glued our deck railing to the house and now that the glue didn't hold, the railing is leaning. I asked Parker numerous times to screw the railing into the house instead of the post and he just simply ignored my request 4. If they damage your property, they won't tell you and will try every workaround in the book to avoid paying for it - they damaged our fence, tried to hide it, then tried to fix it with a scrap piece they had lying around that didn't match. When I told them it needed to be fixed properly they responded with "well swap it out from a section of your fence in the backyard". I had to forcefully hold money back to get it repaired correctly 5. They will leave your property a mess 6. You will need to hold payment for as long as you can. I learned the hard way. The guys they sent to do my driveway were drinking on the job and couldn't have done a worse job if they tried. Dave said they'd come back in the fall and seal coat the driveway to help mask some of the mistakes - so I gave them their final payment. Now that some time has passed, the driveway is not settling correctly. There's bumps, dips, and unevenness all throughout and water pools in certain spots every time it rains. Seal coating isn't going to fix this. I reached out to Parker and Dave on multiple occasions to have them come and fix the driveway and they just kept giving me the run around. To be honest, I wasn't expecting them to come back but If they did, I would've given them the benefit of the doubt and would not have written this review 7. You will have to live with the fact that you spent as much money as you did and had to "settle" on more than one thing 8. You will need to have a reliable contractor as a back up to come fix their mistakes. I will be having another contractor come to redo the stairs on our porch which they built without leveling the surface below (Dave I know you're reading this and you told me those old bricks would be removed. But they weren't and now the stairs are warped and they move every time we step on them. The guy you sent to "cement" them after you admitted to them being done poorly was just an attempt to save face. Let me know if you want me to send you the videos of him chucking cement under the stairs with his bare hands) Dave is going to come across as super charismatic and friendly but if you're going to use him for your project, I recommend you get every single little detail in writing and hold your final payment until you are thoroughly comfortable with the work they did. I noticed that Dave and team like to refute the reviews that are written here so before you try to lie to these people, please remember I have text messages and pictures of everything written above. All you guys had to do was do a thorough job and it would've led to more business. 2 neighbors of mine would've used you for their projects had you done right by me. My humble advice...be cautious of anyone who says they can do any kind of work - patios, decks, hot tubs, landscaping, driveway paving, snow removal, etc. - jack of all trades, master of none. read more

Had them do a large patio around our pool and grass seed with top soil the yard when the work was done. The patio pooled tremendously with water, literally an inch of water on the patio, and the lawn came up all crabgrass. They came back twice and lifted some bricks and it still pooled. We hired another contractor who came and lifted the majority of the patio snd relaid it with no leaking. read more

Bill Renter and his staff just did an outstanding Job designing and installing a deck in our backyard. I went to Bill with a design from another provider and he immediately suggested changes to make the deck more spacious and efficient. He then guided us through choosing the best material and we smoothly went into contract. They completed the job several weeks earlier than expected and it looks absolutely spectacular! Dave and Linda from the office were responsive and the price of the project was very fair. I used the Deck and Patio company for the major stone design for my pool 14 yrs ago. It was done nicely but has worn poorly and many of the stones have shifted along with the boulders. Dave who took over the company agreed to level out the stones and we set it up for this season. He gave me a price and I agreed. I have tried to reach him over a dozen times, left messages but he has failed to respond . I am very unhappy about this and would not recommend him to my many friends who have asked about my patio work. He really needs to contact me and has not. read more

Three years after the initial installation of several thousand dollars worth of landscaping - and spending the years since then fighting to have this company replace trees that kept dying - I thought all the frustration was finally behind me. The company president had stepped up and satisfied my concerns, at least to the point where I could move on. One year later, he emails me, asking me to change the first sentence of my previously posted review. ONE SENTENCE. Rereading that review, I thought it was an accurate and fair representation - and actually complimentary - of him and his company. I even plugged their website and referenced the expensive and beautiful ads they take out in House Magazine. So here's the latest on our yard from where I see it every day: - A replacement hydrangea they installed last year seems to have died, along with the three others originally installed three years ago; - A beautiful Crepe Myrtle tree originally installed has also died; - The flowering plants included in the original installation have never EVER poked up through the surface and bloomed, leading me to believe they were never planted and that I was cheated out of plants that I paid for; - A berm lining our property was built at a ridiculous 60-degree grade, and every time it rains, the mulch that I install each year washes down into the grass and exposes the roots of the trees, which may expain why half of them have died; - A group of three evergreens towards the front of our property appear to be falling over and one has even grown at an odd angle because it appears to have been planted that way; - Finally, a highly recommended company I had over to install a PVC fence told me the trees and the berm were installed on the WRONG SIDE of my property line, and that before they could do anything, I would have to move the trees that Deck & Patio installed. Now I have to spend more money to rectify a problem this company created. Three years on, my greatest disappointment is that I feel like I was taken for a ride by Deck & Patio. I came to this company looking for a beautiful solution that would block our view of the adjacent road and of the cars passing by. Rather than give me good advice - that no amount of plant material would block the road entirely, and that a fence would be a better solution - this company SOLD ME STUFF. They said we would go to the nursery to pick out trees together; that never happened. They created an initial site plan that they said would accomplish our goal, but then had to scale it back due to our budget, and never took the extra step to warn us that fewer trees wouldn't have the same impact. What we have is far short of what we wanted, we can still see the road and the cars, and every time I look out there I am disappointed and think, "never again." My wife and I interviewed 4 different pond contractors before deciding to go with Huntington Deck and Patio. Bill Renter patiently worked with us on the design and placement and 5 years later it is a never ending source of pleasure and tranquility for us. Their foreman Hector has an amazing eye and talent and he and his crew did an outstanding job. We even have them maintain it with spring clean ups and this year the crew had a busy day and arrived later than they intended and wound up working through the rain. The next day I saw the job and called saying that the clean out wasn't as good as it usually is and could they come back and inspect it. They did within a few days and agreed to do it over to keep us satisfied. Now redone, it looks better than ever, no plants or fish were disturbed (or missing) and I have to say that we would recommend huntington deck and Patio to anyone. read more

Long but informing. I hate leaving negative reviews but this was the first time I ever found a company to literally steal money from its customers. First off, we paid for snow removal services at a private home and was told mid March that we were on the automatic list for when it snows. According to their contract, you're supposed to submit the form by November 2019 and the season ends march 31st and there's no refund in case it doesn't snow which is understandable but we sent the contract in February 2020 so who would pay for services when the season is pretty much over?! On Wednesday, we were told that the money we paid in February was not good towards the snow storm that hit 12/16 even though it didn't snow earlier in the year. If we paid in February, we know its not going to snow several times within a month so who would believe that their money isn't going to be transferred to the next season, especially since it never snowed?! We understand that we wouldn't get a refund but to have to pay again is unacceptable. Not to mention, we paid for a stakeout to be done to the house but NO ONE EVER SHOWED UP to even complete this service so that was extra money given away! As we are a surveying company, we understand business protocols but never in our right mind would we take a clients money and tell them they have to pay for something again even though the first payment was never utilized. Its unfair that our money was literally given away without any service in return but it was entirely disrespectful and uncalled for when I spoke to an employee Linda about why we were unhappy. She literally came out and told me "if you don't like it then find someone else to do it". Our surveying company has been in business for over 20 years and not once have we EVER told a client those words. This entire situation was very unprofessional, deceiving, and disappointing. We would've even been satisfied if something was worked out with us where one visit would be taken care of and we pay for any additional future visits or to even have someone complete the stakeout and we pay for the snow removal service but nothing was discussed so this is why our frustration is through the roof and we literally feel robbed. Our lesson has definitely been learned and we even took notes on our business operations so we know what NOT to ever do in future instances to our clients. read more

Deck & Patio Company installed a deck for me about two years ago. It is a fairly sizeable deck and they did a great job. Came on time, bult in a timely manner and the carpenters were very courteous and always cleaned up after they left. When I went to get the CO for the deck even the inspector commented on what a well built deck it is! Two years later I wanted another small add on to the deck. There were some initial communication problems but Bill Renter, the owner, emailed me directly and took care of things very quickly. He responded quickly to every email and did a great job on getting things resolved. The crew for the second job was quick, professional, on time and again cleaned up after themselves! Nothing for me to do after they were gone. I know I have a quality product that will last for years to come. read more

If you want to keep your sanity in check I recommend that you do not use the Deck and Patio Company in Huntington for your project. I had them design a deck, patio and pond-less waterfall for my backyard. Although they'll do a great job up front to get your business, the follow-up for service is extremely poor. I had 4 problems with installation, landscaping, cleanup and maintenance and they would not make good on any of them. When I called for maintenance recently, it took over 2 months to get a service date. They did not do what I asked them to do and overcharged me for the work. I suggest you stay away from this company and find another company for your project. read more

My husband and I met with 5 different paving companies to give us estimates and share their perspective of how our yard should layout after the pool was installed. Parker and Dave were by far the most personable and had great insight on how to layout our yard with pavers, raised patio and sheer descents. Once we decided to go with deck and patio, they gave us a start date for the work, and followed through beautifully. Parker was very accommodating and was quick and flexible to meet us at the stone yard. Parker always kept the lines of communication open and he was very easy to reach if we had any questions. The crew was amazing. Arturo, the head mason, added a few tweaks to job that made the job complete. The finished work was exceptional, my husband and I were blown away with how it came out. BUYER BEWARE of Deck and Patio To begin, we have never taken the time to write a negative review on any business until now. The frustration, deceit and unprofessionalism that we experienced working with the owners of Deck and Patio pushed us to the point that we felt we needed to warn others. About 3 1/2 years ago we hired Deck and Patio located in Huntington Station, to design and install 2 ponds, a vanishing edge pond and another larger pond. In all honesty, the design and finished product did look good in the beginning. Unfortunately, that was the only pleasure we had with our dealings with this company. To start, we spent over $200000 on the design, ponds and equipment, which was more expensive than competitors, however, we were sold on the premise that they called themselves "outdoor living experts." In the short period of time, we experienced pumps that were inadequate to support the ponds, causing them to constantly shut off, tremendous algae formation due to the pumps constantly not operating, bubbles appearing all over the vanishing edge pond, leaks and pumps that were supposed to be variable speed pumps, but ran at the maximum speed when they were operating. Our summers have been ruined because when the pumps are not operating, it causes stagnant water which attracts bugs, making it uncomfortable to be outside. The most recent issue was that the pumps were shutting down because they were tripping the circuit breakers. At my expense, an electrician replaced the breakers but that was not the problem. I alerted the company yet again, and did not hear from them for 4 weeks. Finally, I was told that the pumps are not working properly because I am not using their weekly maintenance service. We still are wondering what a weekly service would do other than costing us even more money and would accomplish nothing. We were also told that we should replace the pumps and that Deck and Patio would get us the pumps at their cost, at our expense. We honestly felt that we should not have incurred any expenses for the pumps being that that they were only 3 1/2 years old and only operating for 5 months of the year , however, we were so desparate, we had to do something. The quote we received from the owner, Bill Renter, was extremely high, and we found the exact same pumps on Amazon for almost half the price saving us $1300. We received the pumps in two days. We asked them to install them and we have yet to hear back from them. We finally had another company come in and install the pumps and they have been running fine since. There is no algae and the bubbles are now gone. Although a simple fix, if the pumps installed from the beginning were in good working order, our summers would have been more enjoyable. Bottom line- they are the type of company that once they have your money, they want nothing to do with you. They do not communicate, have little integrity, do not back their work and really are far from experts. read more

My husband and I can't say enough accolades about Deck and Patio Company. We would rate them an #11 on a scale of 1-10 ! Bill, the President, was very patient and creative in helping us work within our budget. He came up with a plan that we were able to revise to our satisfaction. Within 3 weeks, Deck and Patio transformed our worn, rickety wood deck into a stone and grass masterpiece. Bill and his Project Manager Dave came to our site everyday and oversaw the work of his wonderful employees. By the way, Bill's workers were the most courteous, polite, professional hard-working group of young men I have ever seen. They were meticulous and neat, and left each evening cleaning up the area thoroughly. At the end, whatever tweeking that needed to be done was done to perfection. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Deck and Patio Company and never had a more postive experience, at each step of the process, ending with a spectacular outcome.
