i needed a volunteer cedar tree removed because it was much too close to the house, and also needed a large dead holly bush removed. I also had a couple of larger trees in need of pruning and wanted to be sure it was done correctly. Davey is great because they send out an arborist to do a consultation. The person who came out to my property was excellent. He was very knowledgeable, friendly, and very helpful in figuring out what would work for my trees. I had the estimate in writing within hours and the price was very reasonable. The work was completed within just a litter over a week and they did a great job. I'm updating my review 3 years later from my first review of Davey ..... and we're still very pleased with Davey Tree's services (fertilizing & treating trees/bushes). We've used them for about 5 years, and it's a small price to pay to keep large trees healthy. We see it as a good investment. I'm reviewing them again because we have now used them to trim trees, trim bushes, cut down trees, and clean up trees pushing through fences. There is a specialized crew for each time of service they offer, which means they are specialists in that area. The tree trimming crew was a head crewman & two helpers, all super friendly, helpful, and skilled at the task. I was out in my garden the whole time they worked, and I saw how they worked as a team & was very impressed. We are grateful to find good companies that help us out, and Davey is a good find. Dave's Tree Service has been a joy to work with. The arborist came out and gave me advice and a no charge estimate on my old wind damaged tree. They came out to do the removal of the fallen branches and were done quickly and they left the area clean. I will have them back to do some more fall pruning for sure. read more

I hired this company to prune my trees. They did a good job of cutting off the lower limbs, but did not shape the trees. Everyone else who gave me quotes said the shaping was part of the pruning process. I would say the price was too expensive if it did not include shaping. I would not hire again! We've had a couple of services by Davey Tree so far. Last year, they came to treat our White Ash tree for ash borer. This year, we had a dying tree taken down, an unruly lilac bush taken out and replaced with a pink dogwood. Every time, they've been efficient, friendly, and very professional! Kevin McBride came out each time to provide a professional and thorough quote before we decided on services. Sure, we could have looked at other providers, but they've been what I consider a good, fair price each time. We have plenty of mature trees on our lot, and I'd really like to get more done in the future as they provide wonderful value to our property. I contacted Davey to have multiple trees removed, but ended up getting just the biggest tree in the yard removed, choosing to wait until later to decide on the smaller trees. Davey was the second of three estimates I got for tree removal and were the cheapest by far -- hundreds of dollars cheaper than the next highest estimate. They also gave me a breakdown of the cost and expected maintenance schedule of pruning instead of removal, advising that the tree I wanted to have removed added value to the property. I appreciated the extra consideration, but still decided for the tree removal since I value sunlight and, after two years of darkness, wanted to finally get some sunlight through my windows! The day of the tree removal, the guys arrived on time and completed the tree removal as expected. It was a noisy, messy job, but not much can have been done about that! They cleaned up all of the mess in my yard once they were done with the job, leaving just the excess wood chips in the hole, as was specified in the estimate. It took a while to get grass to grow in the area where the tree stump and roots were ground, but they benefit to me was worth. No more dead birds falling out of the tree, spending an evening picking up branches after a bad storm, or raking leaves in the fall! Fast Friendly Knowledgeable Most inexpensive & Professional at tree removal I needed 2 trees removed, a trim and deep root feeding on my River Birch. A landscaper recommended another company and I waited 5 weeks (3 phone calls) to get an email of the quote for $940 that didn't include the removal of the 2 trees, but did include a lengthy contract with all kinds of disclosures. Called another company and said they were 6 weeks out from even looking at my trees. When you have a tree that needs nutrients, you don't want to wait 3 months to get it fed!! A guy at a breakfast place I visit recommended Davey. So glad he did because they came and inspected my trees (an actual arborist) within 3 days. Guy appeared to know his stuff and know what the market bears on pricing. They did everything for less than $700 within a week and billed me. It's nice to have a car show up that is actually branded with a company logo in front of your house so you know why its there. Everyone that came and worked on our yard was nice, knowledgeable and had ALL of their teeth. They all made eye contact, introduced themselves and shook hands with me like real people. They seemed to actually like their job unlike the 3 other places I called. You can barely tell where they pulled my trees out, trees weren't over trimmed and they were happy to talk it over with me before and after to make sure my satisfaction had been met. I emailed MV (the rep) to let him know that I'd put the checks in the mail and that I'd overlooked something strange on my Freeman Maple. He said send over a photo, so I did. He thought it might be this or that so he said he'd drop by (all of this within a 2 hour period). Next morning he rang my doorbell before 10am and said that it was scale and that since its about to go dormant (fall/winter) that we should treat it in early spring for efficiency and that he'd make a scheduled reminder for my family. We just had our trees trimmed up and a lot of thick, dead limbs removed. We are so happy with the end result. Isaac Miller and the rest of the team took great care of us. They told us only what really needed to be done and didn't try to take advantage of us. We even added a few extra things, while they were here, and they were happy to do it for a very minimal fee. These guys took out a whole bunch of trees and stumps from my yard and they did a great job. The stumps are really ground down and they cleaned up the job sites really well too. The yard looks great. Their communication was really good as far as scheduling and letting me know when they planned to come out. I found a few things that needed removing after I had agreed to a quote and they were very accommodating. Their prices are also very reasonable. I even decided to go with them for my lawn service.
