Our 11 month old Bernedoodle groomed yesterday at the Pet Parlor and my experience there was NOT…read moreGOOD. I'd actually give it a negative 10 if I could so that someone else's dog won't suffer what happened to my dog...Dogs do have feelings and feel pain! I previously shared my concern with Pet Parlor Owner prior to scheduling an appointment with them, about a previous groomer experience & "Why" I wanted to find a new Groomer. I read tons of reviews, but it only takes 1 groomer to cause terrible problems with you dog, cause horrible anxiety and stress. BEWARE of Pet Parlor. I explained to the new Owner of Pet Parlor: the previous Groomer was not checking or grooming my puppy's ears after I asked them too, as was noted it was on the "List" of grooming areas & duties completed by the Groomer (I tried same previous Groomer 2 times) I ended up taking my dog to our Vet only to learn my dog had an ear infection that required treatment for 2 months. Our Veterinarian ask "why" the dogs ears had not been groomed or cleaned? I tried to clean at home but didn't realize that the hair needed to be removed 1st. The Vet then completed the task herself, before treating our dog for infection, Possible Causes: Unknown too many possibilities at this time (maybe water in his ears, maybe dirt,,,). I explained my conversations with that groomer at my dog's Veterinarian appointment (the groomer has told me why they didn't clean the dogs ears"Too noisy near the dogs ears, to clip the hair") Our Vet suggested I find a new Groomer, so I did, Pet Parlor. I take our dog to Pet Parlor, after waiting weeks, to get him in, believing it's such a good place based on everyone's reviews and THIS HAPPENS: My 11 month old Bernedoodle, who I comb and brush several times a week was shaved! His hair was cut so short his skin shows through. I ask what happened, when I arrived for my appointment the Groomer runs her fingers through my dog's coat and says she will trim it to a 2 or 4 length and he will look like a big "Fluff-Ball" when I pick him up. The Groomer told me I had done pretty well at removing any hair matting. My dogs hair was cut SO SHORT, his bones stuck out. When I ask the Groomer at the Pet Parlor when I picked up the dog, why his hair was so short, her response was: "Don't bring this dog back till you get him neutered or get him some anxiety meds! He wouldn't even let me touch his feet, he hid them underneath his body, I had to keep pulling them out," Hummmm, I thought, that's not like him at all, I've never heard that my dog was so scared or anxious or needed drugs, I wondered why. After I got home I took a good look at him (Straight home from the Pet Parlor) my husband and I realized he had a cut on his testicle...WHAT! then we looked at him more and realized he had been shaved, almost everywhere- WHY? there could not be matted hair in areas where barely any hair initially existed? I ask the Owner, WHAT HAPPENED TO MY DOGS TESTICLE: his response: Oh yeah, sorry I forgot to tell you about that. His testicle got cut in the clippers, but don't worry we used medical grade glue and closed the cut. OH My GOSH!! I called my Vet again about another Groomer. She said unfortunately there are a lot of Groomers, who really don't care about pets, NO Groomer should be using a "medical-Grade" glue on any animal. They very likely, don't know enough about what they are doing as far as infection, cleansing, cut depth, actually closing a wound" I now have more follow-up veterinary care to check out his wound, check for infection, irritations... But to make matter worse, in an area near his testicles which was shaved, we find a live TIC. Obviously from the Pet Parlor, he hadn't been on our dogs body very long, but SHOULD HAVE been noticed by the Groomer if it was there. NOPE, our dog got a tic from the Pet Parlor. When I told the Owner about the tic on our dog after we left his facility, his response was "don't know nothing about a tick problem" REALLY, I just told you? Now I'm watching our dog per the Vet's instructions for Tic health concerns. I will NEVER be returning to the Pet Parlor and I would advise you to use GREAT CAUTION and check you pet for TICS and check out any Health Regulations Required for a Grooming Salon, Especially Pet Parlor. Not even an apology from the Pet Parlor.

TBH I was hesitant at first because of the other 1-star reviews but I took a chance because it is close to my work. I usually drop her off before work at about 8:30 even though she may have an appointment later in the day and I pick her up after work around 4 or 4:30. It is so convenient! I have never experienced the complaints in the other reviews. The team has always seemed to be gentle and loving with Gracie. As for length, we always discuss it before hand. She is a Maltese and I prefer to keep her hair shorter, especially in the summer. Just make sure to tell them what blade you want them to use. That is what I have done with of the groomers I have been to in other cities that I have lived. They do all the regular grooming stuff--bath, cut, nails, teeth, glands but my absolute favorite is the fun hair coloring!!! Usually, her ears and tail are some combination of pink, blue, purple and/or teal. Everyone asks me where Gracie gets her hair done and I proudly tell them Suds n Scissors!

Let me start by saying I'm not one to write reviews at all, let alone a bad one. This was truly one…read moreof the worst and strangest customer experiences I've had, handled in the most unprofessional manner. I would urge you to read this before considering giving these people your business. I called to ask if they'd be able to get my puppy in for a nail trimming, they let me know that service is offered upon walk in, so I brought him in. When I arrived, I told one of the women working there that I'd called for a nail trim, and without asking a single question other than my dog's name, or sharing any information at all about the process, pricing, questions/concerns, etc. she pulled him out of my arms and carried him to the back. I stood in the doorway to watch, as I hadn't been instructed to do anything otherwise. I was already starting to feel uneasy as the place smelled gross and didn't look clean. I then realized she was fully distracted as she started trimming his nails, and was yelling at a dog that was wandering the floor. My puppy looked super uncomfortable (he is otherwise a very calm pup). I asked her if I should come back there to comfort him, she said no and "this is all normal". My puppy jumped nervously when she trimmed the next nail - she said "ooooh buddy, did I getcha?" and checked his paw to confirm she'd trimmed it too short and he was bleeding. She applied a sterile powder and then dropped the container and yelled "there goes 30 bucks!!". At that point I said I was uncomfortable with her continuing, which two other groomers heard as they were standing in the doorway next to me, but again, she said "this is all normal" (which shouldn't matter if a customer says they're uncomfortable) and continued anyway. She kept saying "did I getcha?" which made me think maybe she'd cut him again, but the powder was all spilled at this point so I'm not really sure how she would have treated it if she had. Once she finished she brought my puppy back to me and I was visibly upset. I told her he'd never been cut by any other groomer before, and that I was uncomfortable with how this whole interaction had gone as it was very unprofessional. She said "there isn't a dotted line we do the best we can". Fine, but should have been handled better. I told her she didn't allow any time for questions/concerns before taking him, didn't share pricing, etc. as mentioned above. Her response was condescending, saying "well I thought we had a great time!". I shared that as a customer, it doesn't really matter if YOU think you had a great time, I had a really poor experience. I asked if they clean the nail trimming equipment they use between dogs - as a relatively new dog parent I was worried about him being susceptible to an infection since she cut him - to which she replied "no we do not". At that point, I was ready to get out of there and asked how much the services would be - still happy to pay even after such a poor experience. As she walked away, she replied "you know what, don't worry about it - since that's what you came in here looking for anyway" - insinuating that I went in there intending not to pay, and adding insult to injury. Incredibly rude - just an awful experience all around.
