Please, please, please order the drinks from the cocktail master. Ask the servers and they will tell you who he is. Hell, they told me. I ordered a drink from someone else, big mistake. My Long Island Ice Tea tasted like vodka and coke. Big no-no. Took it back and let the professional fix me a new one. And he did so with no issues. He was actually disappointed in the person that fixed me the drink after tasting the drink I took back. The other bar tenders need to learn from this dude. When we were seated the presentation of the table was great, crackers and all! However we had to wait 20 mins for someone to come and take our orders ( we were not aloud to pre-order). Starters were good but we were kept waiting almost an hour between courses and actually had to go up and chase the manager (No apology, just told it will be out soon). Staff & Management presence on the floor was sporadic (Despite there being more than enough for the covers they had in) with the waiters either congregating at the pass chatting or reluctantly clearing tables. Our second drinks order was forgotten and had to be chased up and re-ordered, These finally arrived just before our desserts. The food was very good, its just a shame the customer service was lacking and at no point was our table touched by a manager to see how our meal was. As I said above, this is a great place for the bar, Cocktails and the great range of craft and obscure beers. The bar is called 1812 after the year the building was established - and it was apparently the first building in the town of Bournemouth as we know it. They have a live music programme with plenty of jazz. The prices are high, but that is pretty much expected in a swanky hotel bar such as this. The bar staff are more than competent and their fresh fruit cocktails are a delight.
