If you're looking for this type of workout I would definitely visit this establishment. The instructors were very nice and professional. Plus its Black Owned and I'll definitely support that. You can actually drop in for the exotic classes on Sat. and I believe you have to see if there is room for the pole class. I believe the classes are $20. These exotic and former exotic dancers create a non-competitive environment and encourage you to let your inner dancer come out. They tell jokes and intimate stories that help you feel better if you aren't able to do a move effortlessly. I enjoy going here and always feel comfortable. They also offer specialty classes, like "Booty Poppin and Shakin" "Video Vixen" "Lap Dance Specials" etc... Going here, I've gained a great perspective on the athleticism that you must have in order to be a stripper AND look good doing it. They also sell 5-7inch heels here so you can really get the full feeling. If you want to just see without being charged, the Saturday at 12 class is free for first timers.

Jacob, the instructor who works with the teens and adults, strikes a nice balance between providing one-on-one guidance and allowing the students to learn by watching their more experienced classmates. He steps in to gently correct when necessary, but, perhaps more importantly, knows when not to. The female instructor works with the young children and appears to be very well-liked; the kids all respond positively to her direction. The school is located in the very back of the industrial park on Berger Road in a quiet area with plenty of parking. The teen/adult classes are taught on Wednesday evenings from 6:15 to 7:45. A punch card of 10 lessons costs $187.50 ($175 if you pay the balance upfront). When you consider that the classes regularly extend past the 7:45 end time, as well as the individualized attention that the students receive, Central Maryland Youth Ballet is easily the best value for the money in Columbia. I spent about three weeks researching the many, many ballet schools in the area before settling on this one. I spoke by phone with about a dozen directors. In contrast with the somewhat snooty reception I received at several of the other schools, this one seems to understand that some teens do not necessarily want to make a career of ballet; they simply want to learn as much as they can and have fun. That outlook meshes perfectly with our intentions in signing up for the Wednesday open classes. I look forward to bringing my daughter here weekly for as long as she wants to dance.

I waited until my membership ended to post this due to a documented pattern of retaliation by the owner. Safety & Environment: * Crime: Multiple cars have been stolen or broken into in the lot. The owner did not warn members and was dismissive when another member and I were personally threatened by a man on-site. * Privacy Violations: Members were filmed without consent for the owner's adult subscription site. It took multiple requests to remove the footage, and one member was temporarily banned for complaining. * Harassment: A member used racial slurs and made death threats toward others. The owner did not cancel their membership until that individual was caught stealing from the studio. Facility Maintenance: * Hygiene: Roaches have been observed on site and the owner failed to notify the community. * Equipment: Poles are poorly maintained--some sway, creak, or have cracks. Chrome-allergy risks are ignored as poles are moved without labels. The bathroom is often inoperable (clogged toilet/shower used for storage). Poor Management: * Communication: Benefits (like unlimited open sessions) were stripped mid-contract without notice, and members were penalized for using them. Different members are provided with different resolutions for the same issue. Many are provided with no resolution at all. She has switched the app used to provide studio updates 3 times within the past year and is adamant about her being the one to disseminate information through it, but not receptive to members trying to communicate with her through it. Despite switching the app 3 times she expects people to inconvenience themselves by downloading the app du jour each time and as an incentive offers benefits to members that use the most recent app, even though we all have the same membership contracts and pricing tiers. * Volatility: The owner frequently engages in disrespectful conflicts with students, staff, prospective staff, and guests. She has threatened to call the police on a member for simply raising a system issue. Supporting Black-owned businesses is important to me, but I cannot ignore the poor treatment Black women specifically have faced here. Many polers around the DMV started their journeys at this studio, because it's one of the oldest in the area. Many in the DMV pole community have left for the reasons I shared and more. Please do your research and ask around before signing a contract. I wish I had this information before starting a membership. I never would've signed up if I had known. The studio owner has publicly claimed that she's always seen as the villain and the only members that complain are those that don't get their way. But I think if she took the time to sit and reflect, listen to the community, and not approach every conversation defensively it would be a valuable experience.

For a while Colleen was the only Lyra instructor, but now they have Elixir and Lyra Bae as well. Each instructor's style varies and so do their difficulty level. With interest in Lyra still building up in the area, I think they'll have distinguished levels soon. I like to alternate between the Lyra instructors. What I love most about the studio is that it's very client/instructor centered. Schedules and class offerings are adjusted based on student interest and what the instructors want to teach. It really makes for a fun learning environment. Since joining I've gotten the opportunity to try many of their other classes, like Floor F@$?ery, Pole 1, Chair Playtime, etc. All the instructors are great at what they do and offer their own flair to each class. I have thoroughly enjoyed every instructor I've encountered. They really have me considering starting my pole journey! But I will say this: I hate their website but love the mobile app! Once you start at the studio, please download it bc it will make your life so much easier. There is also an online members only chat available. Their memberships are affordable and they constantly share specials and events on their IG.

I love that I can get a workout in a totally different way here than just taking yoga classes all the time. I want to get rid of my flabby arms, get nice legs, and basically tone my whole body, but yoga can only do so much! The sculpt and barre classes definitely target the areas that yoga does not! You may think you're fit, until you walk into one of these classes and feel the need to vomit several times (in a good way). Definitely my favorite studio I've attended since moving to Maryland. Even the aesthetics is super pleasing! It's a brand new studio, and you can definitely tell how new it is because of how pristine everything still is. But you can tell a lot of thought went into the design of it all. The yoga studio has 3 different sets of lights that are all on dimmers. The sconces and the ceiling perimeter lights are my favorite! You no longer have to deal with bright lights overhead whenever you're laying down on your back! They have a completely different room for the sculpt and barre classes, but both studios have surround sound, which I love! Normally, studios just have speakers in the front of the room which can either make it very loud in the front or not as motivational in the back. But here, the music can pump you up no matter where your mat is! I cannot recommend this studio enough and am so glad to have the opportunity to take such a great variety of classes with great teachers.

i've really enjoyed classes at the yoga barn. i started with a slow flow class as i've not done…read moreyoga for many years (at least 15 at this point) and i'm coming back with several debilitating health conditions. it was a little *too slow* for my personal taste, but i've found their vinyasa flow class to be perfect for my medical limitations. the instructor Nicole is incredible. she does a really incredible job with her flows and she's very aligned with teaching for all levels in one breath. i am coming up on the end of my 5 class pack and will definitely be purchasing another class pack. it's (obviously) a barn sized building, and the room itself isn't too large - i'd say medium large. there is a bathroom i haven't used but it does require stairs so just FYI for accessibility. they did have a service dog in our class today, and for those who need that it's very welcomed!

I travel often and tend to test out new yoga studios and no studio quite compares. I have never had a bad class at prana - and I've taken a class with Kathleen (the owner), Charlie, and MacKenzie (regularly). They do keep the studio HOT! Which I love. Each class has been different and unique. The instructors all know you and are all so welcoming. I'm moving away in a couple of months and I feel truly blessed to have found the studio, even if only for a short period of time. I will definitely return if I'm ever in the area!
