So thrilled to find this bakery in Manistee. Fresh, rustic loaves of bread, baked right in the shop, and a selection of sweets that are less about chocolate and cream and more about technique and flavors (cookies, scones and biscuits). As another reviewer said, it's like having a French village bakery right here. Awesome.

This is a quick in and out you don't want to miss in Manistee. The cinnamon rolls were a feast they were so big! Light and fluffy, perfectly baked, plenty of cinnamon and brown sugar, and a perfect amount of frosting on top. The oatmeal raisin walnut cookie was perfectly dense and moist. They were old fashioned goodness, no weird new wave flavors, simply delicious. Wish our home in CA wasn't so far because I'd stop baking and go here instead!

Tip - get there early, but not too early because they just keep bringing out tray after tray of intoxicating baked bread and sweets. Today we picked up country fresh bread, olive bread, cinnamon bread (essentially a giant cinnamon roll - so good), walnut sticky buns, and cheese biscuits (so savory and decadent) around 8:30 and they were still bringing out trays of fresh bread and treats. The service is friendly and meticulous. Their packaging is perfect and the taste of everything out of that place is incredible. They always sell out so hopefully you get your tasty treats before they do!

I stopped at this bakery for the first time about 3 days ago. It is a family run operation, and the food shows the tremendous amount of care that this family has for the quality of food that they produce. My wife and I have stopped back in every day that we have been in Manistee. We stocked up today as they will not be open tomorrow when we leave. We sampled a lot of variety during our 3 visits. The Cheese Cake - OMG I have only had cheese cake this delicious, when my grandma made it for me over 40 years ago. (that could just be a fond memory as it was so long ago) It was cheesy, cakey the GC crust was perfect! Not to sweet and yet it explodes with flavor in your mouth with each bite. Wonderfully executed! The Orange Brioche was very delicate and filled with flavor - like a donut only better, again perfectly sweet but tastefully done. We bought fresh whole grain bread the first trip to make tomato sandwiches and OMG the nuttiness was a perfect compliment! In all we tried 12 different products in 3 days time - way more than we would normally do with a bakery....even different bakeries. I almost forgot, the people that own this place are very helpful, caring and seem genuinely excited to see each customer. Get there early though as they are not friendly because they are lonely. These guys did not get a break during the hour I spent there this morning eating my breakfast and sipping their delicious coffee. As the chefs brought out tray after tray of fresh baked goods. If you get with in 30 miles of Manistee, don't miss this special bakery! www.facebook.com/thedailybakehouse?hc_location=timeline

We tried two different loafs of bread. Both are amazing. I recommend reserving on their Facebook page. Seems they sell out quick.

Great bakery, wonderful breads and pastries. On a back street to River Street. The bake shop smells wonderful on a cold December day!

When you walk in you are greeted by plants and beautiful paintings. The space is welcoming and calm. I ordered the grilled cheese with cheddar cheese on country white bread with a side of tomato soup and it was delicious. I really liked the quality of the bread! The person who was with me ordered the turkey sandwich with aioli and it was a very generous size! I tried the sandwich and it was very tasteful and made with quality meat and veggies. The restaurant also had a grab and go cooler of a few pre-made sandwiches. This is a great idea for people who are on a time schedule. The restaurant also has a small bakery case full of cookies and other various pastries. The only thing that I would prefer is that I could've refilled my cup of water. It was a super busy Friday afternoon when we visited and I felt bad asking a worker to refill my water while they were taking orders. (You order/pay at the counter, someone brings it out to you, you take care of your tray/trash when finished, there is no waitress service which is totally fine!) Two Slices is a great restaurant for lunch! I highly recommend this establishment.

This Bakery!!! Why don't I have a bakery like this closer…read moreto my hometown!?! Waaaaaaahhhhh!!! It's nothing from the outside. It's rundown. One tiny chalkboard sign in the window with the hours. You'd miss it if you weren't looking for it. But- LOOK FOR IT!! You will not be disappointed!! Paul the owner is the sole baker. His sister Barbara lovingly packages what you chose from the display case and cashes you out. They summer here at Silver Lake during the summers- all the way from Massachusetts! And they are just simply the best people ever! Oh the baked goods! Dill and cheddar scones 10 stars! So much dill, perfectly soft on the inside and yet a perfect brown crust. The raspberry and rosemary scones are equally as amazing, with real fresh raspberry jam in 4 little pools on top. We had nearly all the cookies in the cookie jars with the sugar cookie and confetti being our favorite. The cardamom radiating bun is unique and dense, the raisins are soaked in a orange liqueur and the top gently dusted is powdered sugar. Then there's the raspberry bar!! I only got 1 on my last day here, as we were headed home, and I'm living with regret still. Get like 6 of the raspberry bars! Don't be like me. In fact get like 6 of everything when you're here. You'd be a fool to buy any less. The prices are worth every penny, but you don't have to dish out a lot of them. Cookie will run you $1.25 for the giant ones and the massive scones that you can make a meal out of are only $1.75, my 1 raspberry bar (stupid me!) was only $2 and I swear is weighted 6oz! The face size cinnamon roll is only $2. Come here! Say Hi to Paul and Barbara, get 3 bags of goodies, a loaf of bread du jour, and a hot cup of coffee. Enjoy your items at this quaint little bakery, lots is seating, or take your items in the road. Oh- I almost forgot- THE CINNAMON ROLLS! Go look at my pictures!
