In any event, I wouldn't recommend this place for a romantic date night or any other such occasion where you are looking for atmosphere (in addition to good food). Clearly, there was no professional decorator put to work in this place.
However, if you can get past the mundane decor, the food was actually really good. We started with veggie samosas, which were warm and cripsy with a tasty tamarind dipping sauce. I also ordered up a mango lassi, because it was really hot outside and I wanted something cool and refreshing to drink. It was a little thicker consistency than ones I've had in the past, but it did not disappoint me.
I had the dal fry, medium spicy. It was delicious and spiced just right. My husband asked for chicken vindaloo, "hot spicy." The server asked, "Indian spicy?" and my husband said, "Yes." Now, usually, he is still disappointed with the level of heat. However, he commented over and over that this vindaloo was "just right" in spice level and really tasty. I am not an eater of food that spicy, and he tells me sometimes restaurants over spice at the expense of flavor. This was not the case here.
We will definitely come back here. Again, not for an special occasion, but when we're in the mood for good Indian food.
