India food in a small town in New Zealand? Sure, why not!
We randomly stumbled upon this little Indian restaurant. When we walked inside, the pleasant smells of familiar Indian food welcomed us in.
We were started off with complimentary lentil crackers. This was a great start! Flavorful and crunchy, we were already happy with how things were going.
I ordered the Chicken Saaghala, which was diced chicken in a creamy spinach sauce. This came with rice and we ordered a serving of naan bread. The chicken saaghala had great aromatic flavor! Paired with rice and naan, this made for a great meal.
Unfortunately, I am only giving this place 3 stars because of the Butter Chicken dish my husband ordered. I know that every chef has their own way of making Butter Chicken, but I was no a big fan of this dish here. The dish was waaaay too sweet and tangy. They should look into using a lot less sugar.
For both meals and naan, we spent about $40 which isn't bad at all! If you are craving Indian, I would recommend this place but avoid the Butter Chicken.
Service was good and entree sides were spot on. read more
