We had Lamb and Apricot Tagine and a Beef Moussaka, Both equally delicious. I would recommend this restaurant without hesitation. Thank you guys for the warm hospitality.

For $25 each (for our mains and one starter), you get very flavourful food that tastes fresh and homemade. To be honest, I find myself avoiding this style of food, as I find it's often over-garliced and "flat" (the ingredients don't really compliment each other). I was very impressed - particularly with the hummus, which lacked the three cloves of garlic I have come to expect with this not-fit-for-conversations-with-others-for-hours dip. It tasted light and freshly made. ITEMS TO TRY: - Dolma - they match the cacik (yogurt) dip very well! - Falafel Iskender - this platter is served with rice, hummus, tabouleh and salad. The falafel are some of the best I've ever had. Definitely have them with the chilli and minted yogurt sauce. - Ispank Borek - filo pastry with spinach and feta, rice, yogurt dip and salad. While I thought it was a bit overly spinachy... my dining partner seemed to appreciate this aspect. So if you are a fan of spinach... try this one! The only thing that could be improved here is the interaction the servers have with the customers. While our server was prompt and helpful, he did seem a tad annoyed by our questions (for instance, when we asked about the contents of one of the dips, he just pointed at an explanation elsewhere that we hadn't noticed). Perhaps he was just having an off day though :) Overall - I was very pleased with the food and look forward to trying some of their other meat-based items. (But must stress that they did a great job on their veg items - so definitely vegetarian friendly!)

If you want authentic Turkish food, fresh prepared, friendly service and a great price this is the place. The owner clearly takes pride in his food. Portion size was large, the food hand prepared to your taste and it was so tasty we went back two days in row! We'll certainly come back next time we're in Rotorua.

I noticed that most places in central shopping area are closed from coffee shops to restaurants no later than 5-6pm!. Other than the food court at the end of tutenekai street which is called "eat street", I was looking for places that opened late besides McDonald's. This place near my hotel is called "Turkish Eatery," this place focuses on Turkish dishes and it's menu also consists of burgers and combos. My favorite have consistently been the Iskender Combo. Pick your meat, either chicken or lamb and it comes with Some kind of Jasmine rice brushed with butter (its so good!), also comes with veggies like lettuce, red/white cabbage, and carrots all topped with 2 sauces of your choosing mayo/aioli/tomato/garlic, etc. oh and that's not all, the meal comes with Chips (aka French fries) and a canned drink of your choice. With just the combo and without eating the fries, it's a healthy choice and keeps you full. You actually don't need to eat the fries (chips) lol. The owner was very friendly, the place is clean, consisted of only just 5 tables and walls decorated with A map of the world, people who are here get to plant a pin on the map. Seeing O'ahu, Hawaii wasn't taken, guess I'll be the first and the first to add this business since I couldn't find it on Yelp. Good deal, good prices, and Turkish food at a discount for the quality and quantityserved

We parked right in front of a take-out burger place and asked him for lamb dishes. He was kind enough to direct us to Mr. Kebab. Wow! We were impressed!! The place is spacious with seating inside and outside. A really fun decor... Turkish, I believe from some of the writing on the paintings. I wish I had been able to take pictures, but alas my phone had died. Some of the seating areas were cushion arranged around a low table, made it look more authentic for sure. The service was incredibly friendly. The gentleman, owner, I assume went out of his way to explain the dishes. We settled on sharing the lamb kebab (gyro style) on "chips".... fries.. lol. Four different, salad type vegetables, hummus, and 3 sauces. All for 15 NZ$. Oops, when we got to the register, we saw the sign: "no credit cards accepted" We had only just arrived in New Zealand and banks had been closed. We had 0 NZ $ !! No problem at all. Just pay in US $. How much? Oh... $10 should be fine. This was amazing to us. To top it of, the plate we ordered was huge. We could hardly finish it between the two of us. There also was a jug of water available free of charge. If I could mention one thing to improve would be to add ice cubes and a slice of lemon to the water. But other than that, the place deserves a perfect 10 Five stars all around for the tasty food, impressive services and a great atmosphere all over. Highly recommend this place!
