We really enjoy the Steps and come fairly often. Mendocino Farms and Salt & Straw ice cream, plus some time in the fountain, catching a movie, or visiting during one of the many events is a perfect afternoon/evening. The Steps has tons of great retail options and places to sit, hang out, and just enjoy the day. They also have very nice bathrooms you can access without going through one of the restaurants. Their parking garage is clean, well-lit, and the staff is helpful. In particular, I want to thank Rita who very kindly and cheerfully answered my questions when I was confused about the parking and validation. Here's what I learned: if you're going to park on P2 and want to get validation, only the businesses in that same building are able to validate, not any of the ones nearby. Beware of misleading parking fee at P2. It's $7 for the first hour unless you're dining at one of their restaurants, and even then, validation isn't clearly communicated! There's no visible signage when entering P2, and Laurel Grill (one of the Culver Steps restaurant) failed to inform us about the validation process. A frustrating experience that ruined our night. It's not about the $8 ($7 first hour + $1 ever 30 minutes); it's about a system designed to confuse and extract fees through dark patterns. That deserves to be called out! read more

Culver City has come a long way since I was a kid. I usually park here if I'm checking out a restaurant in the area or going to one of my favorite bookstores, The Ripped Bodice, which is like a block and some change away. Consistently clean and during the summer, the steps themselves are a great place to enjoy some ice cream or casual meal. I see a lot of reviews about the parking structure, but I'm here on account on the steps themselves. This area is extremely lively (even compared to the last 5 years, let alone 10 or 15 years) and it's so walkable and date-y. Very fun to get a scoop at Salt & Straw nearby and just hang out on the steps themselves and take in the sights. There's also lots of live music and events right near the steps, and you're close to bars, a movie theater, some fun fountains (I guess?) and lots of little nooks and crannies that Culver has to offer. Big fan of the area, and the Steps serve as a symbol for downtown Culver itself. Love this area! read more

Wow Culver Steps...talk about lame parking. P1 was completely full after circling a few times, so we went down to P2, stayed for less than 20min to get Pops bagels thinking it's within the 1 hour free. Nope, they tried to charge $7 because we parked at P2! Had to back out of the exit area, run back to Pops to get validation. Why the heck does it matter whether we park at P1 vs P2???! There are also NO signs that make this clear, we walked thru both the elevator and stairs area -- NO SIGNS. Great job alienating your customers. read more

I was on my way to Sony Studios for a private event. I knew I needed to eat lunch before I got to the studio. I saw this and was thinking this is probably a great place to stop for lunch. It has a few shops and restaurants. I was able to move over get in line into the parking garage. The garage is only two levels and is hard to find a parking spot. If you have to go down to the second level you have to scan your ticket you got when you entered. Also you have to scan again when you leave the second level. Which I thought is weird. I eventually found a spot on the second level after making a couple of loops. You still have to pay when you leave. If you get a validation you pay significantly less. After getting out of the parking lot I walked around the building was not impressed. However I did look up and saw something that caught my attention and it was the perfect lunch spot. We have been coming here to eat and ended moves for a long time. Now as of today the parking structure no longer validated for watching a movie. We are there and watched a movie but had to also pay for parking which they don't tell you. Bait and switch. We had to ask the three valet guys multiple times for assistance as there was no one at ticket both. My pregnant wife was just as agitated as I was because of the no help but then to say they don't accept validations from the movie theater above the lot is unreal. The ice cream shop is garbage, the bagel shops bagels are also a day or two old, the coffee place is just dirty water. Not worth spend money to save 11 dollars as this place is a nightmare just to find parking which is all the was on P2 which requires multiple gates to pass just to fucking park. read more

Building itself and the tenants are good, but the parking needs to be organized more. The rate of P1 and P2 are different. If you park on P2 level, even though you leave the parking structure within 1 hour you get charged $7 for parking on P2. Well, when P1 was not available, it is natural to go one down more. Needs accessible water. They do a great job of having bathrooms and keeping them cleaned. I love this "third space" for dining, snacks, community, etc. but it's definitely time for them to get a working water fountain especially for filling water bottles, that's been kind of a basic amenity in most public spaces and institutions for over a decade now read more

The Culver Steps is a nice & peaceful place to chill out with your loved ones or casual friend meetups. It's situated in the heart of Culver City between The Culver Studios and The Culver Hotel. This place is surrounded by restaurants, casual bistros and quick-bite eateries like coffee shops, Ice cream stores. Has a Sephora store too. The place is clean & maintained well. Parking is ample and easily available and is free up-to an hour or so. Kid friendly place Lots of outdoor seating area available. Came here around 9:30 on a Saturday night with a friend. Honestly this is probably everyone's future date spot because there plenty of food options across the street, lots of parking, some shopping and some food in the same structure, and a really beautiful/romantic outdoor area to just sit and chill. There were a lot of couple that night, but still plenty of space to find a place to sit and maintain social distancing from other groups while getting cozy with your boo (or in my case gossip with my other single friend). Culver City may not be the most exciting part of LA, but these few blocks on Culver Blvd really feel like something out of a movie. If you're interested in the nearby eateries (we weren't) definitely come for a post-dinner/pre-night out ice cream at Salt n' Straw. Parking is ample and free for a certain amount of time (I forget how much, but we were there for 45 minutes and it was free so maybe an hour or two?). The parking system is brand new and works well (unlike parking in LA where you're fighting a 15 year old machine sometimes). And enjoy the blissful, picturesque backdrop of Culver: a place that can sometimes feel magical. read more

Presumably a neighborhood addition but corporately owned by Amazon... so don't expect much, and you won't be disappointed! Spend your money in their overpriced tenants establishments: Pops, Erewhon, Salt & Straw... bring your friends, family, and be treated like garbage! We come here as daily patrons. We spend money, we enjoy the area but Amazon Studio (who bought the property)'s security constantly hounds us. They tell our children they cannot play certain ways, they ask people with well behaved dogs not to sit on the turf, they've outlawed: bubbles, balls, remote control cars... the list goes on. They want to be a part of the community but they treat the community like trash. "This isn't a park" well honestly why not? Maybe re-think the area or the community you serve. This is a high earning, affluent neighborhood. Being hounded by your embarrassed hourly security guards for having a nice time with family is just awful. And why? read more

The Culver Steps is the project that is located in the heart of downtown Culver City, adjacent to multiple historic and iconic structures, and the large underground parking garage is very convenient with reasonable rates, walkable distance to many restaurants and coffee shops. The Culver Steps is a relatively new development in downtown Culver City. It's super manicured and I'm guessing the rent is expensive--the tenants all seem to be chains, though the kind of chains that I'd want in the nice outdoor mall near my home or workplace. The yuppie appeal is super high, with a Philz Coffee, a Salt & Straw, and a Mendocino Farms. I'm guessing they get a lot of business from Amazon employees (I visited three times working like two days on the Amazon lot). The complex is built around a lovely public park with a wide, inviting set of steps where you can sit and eat your lunch or ice cream or just catch up with friends. My co-workers and I I ate our Salt & Straw on these steps, and I was standing on them when I got the call from my doctor's office telling me I was having another son (look, you don't write 4,000 Yelp reviews without using them as your personal diary). It feels like the kind of place where teenagers might have wholesome, alcohol-free hangouts. I don't spend a lot of time in Culver City, but I imagine I'd grow dependent on the Culver Steps if I worked in the area. It's an easy, pleasant place to get some food and sunshine. read more

First off, what are the Culver Steps? It is like a mini park in the middle of Culver City. We wanted to meet up with a friend to catch up, and this was a great meeting spot. There are so many restaurants nearby at every price point and with people still fearing the pandemic, this place solves the problem. There are tables, that are first come, first serve and they are well spaced in the area. There are garbage cans readily available and dog stations as well. The place was very clean when we were there and some folks were sitting on the steps themselves eating and drinking. There is a grassy area as well and the whole place has a modern architecture vibe. Not the be confused with the pain of the Culver stairs....the Culver STEPS is a fantastic development in Downtown Culver that added more shops (like Sephora, Salt & Straw, and Mendocino) but even better a wonderful outdoor area for the community be able to hangout and relax in. This space has been particularly useful in the time of Covid, where the ability to have outdoor space is at a premium, but the steps provides plenty with its lawn area, picnic benches, and yes...STEPS :). There is even a sanitizing station and numerous trash cans so it is kept very clean. Perfect place to grab a bite, or relax with a coffee. So happy for this addition to the Culver area. read more

Excellent outdoor setting with free events including concerts and movies. Great for families and can even bring a dog. Lots of places to sit and some seating but we bring our own. Can bring food and drinks for a picnic. Summer Music festival has been excellent except for AllDaySucker. ADS are good musicians but mostly long boring intros and music selections. The crowd was underwhelmed. All the other bands were great. Lots of good local food and drinks places on site and across street on Main Street. read more

I had brunch with my boyfriend and afterwards we went on a little walk around the Culver Steps. It was a nice day so we decided to take some pictures of each other. That's when we were harassed by security to stop taking pictures. We asked why and if we were doing something wrong and he couldn't really respond. Just said we needed a permit to take pictures. Needing a permit to take personal photos during an outing on public property is unheard of and just ridiculous. The Culver Steps is not a friendly place and apparently they are always watching you.
