Hm, what should I say. I think I went in with way too much…read moreenthusiasm. I love Latin food, and I also enjoy tapas. I looked at the menu, and already had some things picked up I would like to munch on. I have never been to the place, so I was curious when I heard that's where we were going to with our group. I would like to point out that my experience here was with a group. Also, for clarification, we did not take the simple menu choice, but the 'luxurious' version. Little we knew that it meant nothing but dishes made out of cheap products than not always go together. And this is where my issues truly started, and this is where it all went downhill. No one in the group was aware of the group deal from 8 people plus, and the limits it would bring with it. Fair enough, might have been a miscommunication within the group. However! I do not understand why there should be a pre-set amount of courses and foods, if it is an all you can eat / all food inclusive / pick whichever tapas you want place. We did not pay less than other customers, we got no discount for a group. There was only a limitation of choice and food. It was quite a disappointing experience, and what I remember food wise is: The beef in spicy veggies was probably the only nice thing. The cheese croquettes were straight up nasty. And I hate to say that about any kind of food. And sorry, but I call bull crap on "This is a selection of the most ordered tapas"! No one around us had them. I am sure people would not go for the cheapest looking and weirdest combined things on the menu; over and over again, in order to make them the "most ordered" ones. The service was also quite bad. The ladies who were serving us were not very pleasant, and when some issues with the menu came up, again, they tried to hide their confusion and disorganization by blaming us for it. Also, my beer was taken away from me half full. I complained, got no excuse, only a weird look accompanied by an empty promise to get a new one. But as you might have guessed - I got a big fat nothing. So after waiting for 15 minutes, I was fed up and went to pay (including the beer I did not fully enjoy). Overall: I think it's a pity that if you come with more than 8 people you get a random selection of not so nice tapas and you cannot change them for anything else on the menu. I might come here again, but definitely not with a group again. I will try the things on the menu which I think might be nice, and then I will make a new review. But for now this is it.

We came on a Friday night because of the 1L Sangria for 12.50 special... of course, despite it being printed on the menu, they refused to give us the deal and told us it's old, but they hadn't ordered new menus. Seems to be that's on them, not us and they should honor it. They also wouldn't give us tap water, and when I tried to tell them we're unhappy, the waitresses were pretty rude and bordering on yelling, just walked away. Nice service! The food itself was ranging from EH to Niiice.... some tapas I wanted more and more of, some were bland as bland can be. Way too many tapas came with mayo... how unimaginative! Throw some spice into a sauce or something... even the bread came with just mayo.. not garlic aioli or what you normally find.. just plain, flavorless mayo. The same mayo came with half the tapas. But there were some very nice ones among it and with the 22.50 all you can eat tapas deal, you can easily binge your way through the menu. My favorite was the grilled paprika with sea salt... amazing taste! Other table favorites were the bacon wrapped dates, stuffed paprika, chicken wings, and the "spicy" beef chunks. The portions are quite small, so the 22.50 all you can eat deal is better than ordering individual tapas. I would come again for the food, but the staff should lose the attitude!

Sandwiches (as far as I have noticed the Dutch people have really strong feelings for all King is sandwiches) are fresh and seem quite healthy (some king of whole grain bread or something like that). We also had vegetation corn soup. O would advice it, yam! Verse munt thee voor €1.90, ook niet te slecht hoor ;)

The nachos were especially bad, since they were 3 euros for a small bowl of nachos with a tiiiiny bit of cheese on them. Not my idea of nachos at all! The coffee was decent. But one caveat is that when you order the coffee at the bar (since there are no waiters), you have to also stand at the bar until the coffee is ready so you can take it back with you. They will not bring the coffee to your table, even though they do bring food to your table. If you go back to your table without waiting the 5 minutes or whatever for them to make your coffee, they will passively-aggressively leave the coffee on the bar to get cold, and then lecture you about the cold coffee when you come back 15 minutes later asking if your coffee is done yet. Add on the fact that it's hard to get to since it's hidden away behind some buildings and a construction site waaay off a main street, and this place is hardly worth the effort to find. The only good thing about this place is the small square next to it, which has some benches and a nice view of the canal out front. It's a peaceful place to sit and people watch.

They do not use the tablet style they have you write on little cards (personally not my favorite as it creates waste). You can only order 3 items at a time as opposed to the usual 5 I've experienced but I feel like the portions are bigger. They have 5 euro cocktails which I find to be super awesome! It is a very crowded place I was bumped in my chair multiple times and they are so close together some almost touch, so just be prepared for that. The food is very yummy, I highly recommend if you're on a high protein low carb diet checking it out because it's very easy to avoid carbs.

While we had our dinner on the bar,no need to mention the food was far from delicious. We left the place in 20 min very upset and those 2 tables were still empty. Such a rude approach to customer and there was no management for complains. Dont recommend the place to anyone,go to shabu shabu instead guys

The ambiance is really cozy and nice and eclectic, definitely not overdone like some Mexican places and they have a great selection of tapas, even for me as a vegetarian! Plus, the cat that lives behind the restaurant drops by every once in a while to keep you company when the restaurant is still quiet early in the evening; adorable! I love it when restaurants here in Utrecht have "house cats". Love the seasonal selections, for me in the summer it's Empanada de Espinacas (Filo stuffed with spinach, pine nuts, soft cheese and raisins) and in winter it's the Tumbet (Spanish egg, potato and vegetable casserole) both are super delish! However, the two dishes I can't live without are the Patatas Bravas with the lovely spicy dip and the Pan (bread with red butter, aïoli and olive tapenade) the red butter is especially amazing. The BF always loves the Champiñones Rellenos (stuffed mushrooms), Costillas (Lamb chops with aïoli) and Pollo El Mundo (marinated chicken legs) and orders at least one of these three every single time and of course also the Pan, everyone loves that! The desserts are all great, try the Banoffi or the Tarta de chocolate y nueces, big recommendation on those two! Now, with my love for the ambiance and food you're probably wondering, why not five stars? Well, that's the staffs fault. The olive tapenade can be a bit inconsistent in taste, the Pincho de Pollo is the tiniest portion of Chicken skewers in the world and the servers tend to have a bit of an "we're better than you and would rather talk to each other" attitude about them, they don't really act on it and stay polite, but a few smiles coming towards the customers instead of each other would be greatly appreciated! Overall a great restaurant and I wish they would deliver to my house!
