The reason why it's so hard to get in here...is because of how GOOD it is here. Management is amazing!!! We were met with kindness and professionalism....and that still continues to this day. Shady Oak doesn't need a pool or fitness center to sell it.......the apts (I call condos bc they're as nice as one)...sell themselves. Not to say ...that I wouldn't be mad if they put a pool in...lololol. One person's "bad" experience should not reflect the majority. As for "the rich"..not living here....the other reviewer...seems pretty elite-ish. 100k combined....not nothing new here....just look at the nice cars in our parking lots. There's a perfect mix. And to assume that there is going to be crime here....is so off base. It's quite, beautiful, safe and a great place to raise a family. So please do not allow one crap review from steering you elsewhere. I recommend our development to everyone--if there is availability. The only reason ppl leave here is if they buy a home or get to an age where they require assistance.

Altogether a great experience and I would recommend them to anyone.

Madeline was my first contact, and she is a lovely, very responsive, kind, and friendly lady. I asked for a few things before I moved in, and each request was met perfectly. Maintenance is responsive and friendly. The grounds are well-kept and clean. The neighborhood is quiet. There was a thoughtful welcome gift when I arrived to move into my townhouse. I highly recommend Wellington Chase.

I moved into a one bedroom apartment sometime in 11/2017. I never missed rent and never had one…read morecomplaint against me from neighbors or management. Throughout my stay I had severe mildew. I took several pics and filed complaints to the office with many unanswered messages for a humidifier. Only after I said I was buying a humidifier and deducting from my rent was I given a humidifier in less then 24hrs from that email. (Humidifier given to me was moldy). On the eve of Labor Day 9/2018 there was a bad storm with rain. I came home from work at 7pm to find my porch was 12 in + filled with water. I entered my apartment to find 8in of water throughout. I learned head of maintenance had been out around 2pm that day and noticed the flooding and put a pump into another unit looked at mine and left mine flooded. I was NEVER called about the flooding. Also i have 2 pets that they NEVER checked on (one cat was pinned between my bed and a tote completely soked (mind you, I paid "pet rent" so they are tenants). When head of maintenance finally re-arrived at around 9pm im standing in 8in of water crying and he walks up, first thing he said was " this is an act of God, we are not responsible". When i asked why I wasnt called, he shrugged and said " not like you would've got home" ( that was not his call to make!). He told me he saw it was flooded early in the day and confirmed he never checked on my pets. I asked for housing or a hotel and was told they would not cover it. I didnt have money for that so I stayed in the apartment. Over the course of the "repair" I not only was subject to dirt, filth, but also tons of fans that were shorting out sockets, sparking, blowing light bulbs and blowing dirt all around. I was told the walls and linoleum would not be replaced (so black mold will grow!!). I also was told I was "in the way by living there". I found out other tenants were given security deposits back so they could go to hotels and some given other apartments on the property. Myself and another tenant were denied any accomodations. I was told it would be over a month till they "repaired" the apartment but it didnt matter as I was moving out!! Upon move out, they did a walk through of the dirty, damp, sewage smelling apartment to see if they'd give me my security deposit back!! I was told the counters were dirty and the stove trays hadn't been replaced so i was going to be charged!!! The place was destroyed!! Upon replacing a blind due to one cracked spot I found thick black mold (they didnt care). They finally approved my return of security as the manager could barely breath walking through the apartment it was so bad (funny how they thought I should stay in it to wipe down a counters) This place was horrid!! This isnt even all I endured!! Do not live here. They have no respect for your well being or your pets!!

BEWARE!!! This…read morecompany used to be good until they hired their new GM Katie. Horrible at her job, cannot respond to tenants or inform them of literally anything going on when requested. Sends emails discussing attachments that were never attached. Be cautious when looking to move here as their lease is built to use you as a piggy bank for them to abuse. Let's start with the good. Location is fine. Kind of close to 283, right on the edge of Mount Joy. The maintenance guys are great and get stuff done fast. Can always count on them! The grounds are taken care of constantly and the pool, albeit small, is nice. Now for everything else. The place is packed. You're in there like sardines and and if you have more than one vehicle, be ready to fight for a spot. The apartments are pretty poorly built. There is no sound barrier, as we could hear every move the upstairs neighbors made, including going to the bathroom. The floors are not level and there can be a bit of a slope at points in the apartment. Also when a child can accidentally break a shower handle and cause a leak just by simply turning it, you know cheap materials were used. FYI, when things like this happen and they require the use of YOUR electricity to fix issues for days to a week or two at a time, they WILL NOT reimburse you for the usage even though they say they will. There are loopholes built into the lease to use your money over theirs to handle their properties when they are at fault. We moved out in the middle of our lease and would has been required to continue to pay it if they did not find a new tenant. We knew someone interested in moving in there and when they asked and specifically mentioned our name to Katie, she basically ignored it. I'm surprised they rented the unit out and didn't just try to squeeze us for the rest of the lease. I'm sure I will get a response about "blah blah the lease says..." but with that I say that when requested about month to month leasing we were told it does not exist by the previous management only to be told by current management that it does, but it is not advertised and has to be asked about. So which is it? On top of that, when it was being renovated for a potential new tenant, we were required to keep the electric on under our name otherwise they would have charged us more themselves, while also having no access to the unit as they took the keys and changed the garage code. Somehow in 24 days they managed to generate an electric bill greater than the amount we ever had while living there, and not running fans to fix a leak caused by their poor quality hardware. When trying to ask about it and why it was so high, we got an answer and then were left ignored for over two weeks when we tried to reach back out again. I'm surprised we got a small bit of our deposit back. Pay attention to the other reviews and when they are dated. Continue with caution, otherwise look elsewhere

Lived here for 2 1/2 Years…read more The apartments are huge, well layed out with a washer and dryer. I had the upper level so the stairs (the go straight up) are a bit daunting but not horrible, just a pain to vacuum. Maintance here is top notch. Rarely had a problem but when we did it was taken care of quickly. They do regular routine maintence too, like changing out the furnace filters. The apartments are all electric, wish the furnace was gas but the bills were manageable. There is plenty of parking for guests, at least where I was in the complex. With your unit you will have a garage plus a carport. The garage was great to have either for a car or extra storage. Neighbors were quiet, lots of people have dogs (never heard them either). I'd say it's a great place to live. Wish they had more bars / restaurants within walking distance but maybe that will come as they have vacant retail spaces available. If Florin Hill is in your budget, I highly recommend. Wish I could move this apt to Virginia where I'm paying more for a lot less (1bd/1b no garage).

Avoid if You Value Safe Living Conditions - Mold Issues and Legal Battle…read more I lived at Featherton Crossing for just a few months, and during that time I experienced persistent mold issues that I believed posed a serious health and safety concern. After repeated maintenance visits failed to resolve the problem, I made the difficult decision to move out and pursue legal action. In magisterial court, Judge Randall Miller ruled in my favor based on the visible mold contamination, lack of resolution, and the overall living conditions I documented and testified to. Mold and Maintenance Concerns: Shortly after I moved in, visible mold began forming inside the laundry room, and despite multiple remediation attempts by the in-house maintenance team, the mold recurred. I hired a licensed mold inspection company, which found elevated mold levels. I also contacted local Code Enforcement, and Officer Dan Ford opened a file that, per my understanding, could not be closed until more thorough remediation was performed -- including removing parts of the laundry room wall to eliminate the suspected source. To my knowledge, this was not done before my court date. Management Experience: I had difficulty getting clear communication from management during this time. When I raised serious concerns, the responses I received were often vague. After notifying them that I intended to withhold rent in escrow until the issue was resolved, I was issued a lease termination notice. This prompted me to file a legal case to protect my rights as a tenant. Court Outcome and Current Status: In court, the property manager (Jessica Landis at the time) arrived late and did not dispute the core of my claims. She did not cross-examine me, and Featherton lost both cases -- their eviction attempt and my countersuit. Judge Miller awarded me damages. They have since filed appeals in both cases. Why This Matters: This review is based entirely on my personal experience, and I've spoken with current tenants who report experiencing similar water and mold-related issues. I believe this points to a potential pattern of unresolved environmental problems. I am sharing this to help others make informed decisions. I've attached inspection reports and court documents that support my claims. Final Thoughts: I encourage anyone considering living here to do their due diligence. Every tenant deserves a safe, mold-free, and habitable home -- and a management company that responds appropriately when serious issues are reported.

My husband, daughter and I very recently lost our entire home because of the floods in Mount Joy…read more The stress, fear, uncertainty and hopelessness was unbearable for weeks. We were fairly certain that the possibility of living at the mission, was becoming inevitable. A couple of local complexes wouldn't even talk to us I'm assuming because we had to file a full Chapter 7 bankruptcy because of the floods and not being able to do the repairs. One complex in particular treated us so badly we felt like second-rate citizens at no fault of our own. And then our attorney mentioned the Villas of Castleton. I said to my husband at this point what do we have to lose the worst they can say is no. But that's not what happened..... I wrote a small letter to the property management just telling them our situation... As I had done with the other complexes. Only this time we didn't hear no! What we heard was come in let's talk and take a look at an apartment and see what we can do!! There is no judgement and no negativity. But there was hope and that's exactly what my little family needed as we watched our entire world fall apart. From the moment we were greeted at the door by Hannah we were received with smiles and hope and confidence and kindness. Her and Anne, made the process so easy and so smooth for us in such a devastating and chaotic time in our lives. The Villas here or if you want to call them Apartments are absolutely gorgeous. They are clean, safe and huge. The staff here from the front office the property management to the maintenance staff are absolutely professional, knowledgeable, kind and they follow through with everything. We finally have a place we can call home. We love being here every day. There's a pool here there's a 24 hour fitness room and a gorgeous Community building that you can even rent for parties!! Living in Marietta has been a change for us but I believe it was a blessing in disguise. The local restaurants and bars and nightlife is awesome. The property here has a beautiful view of some mountains, it's quiet here and going to bed feeling safe every night is absolutely priceless especially with a little girl in our Villa. I know a lot of complexes seem like the same old thing but I promise you if you come here and look you will want to stay. There's just something about the Villas of Castleton that is different than any of the other places. You don't feel like a resident ..you feel more like family. and that to me is also priceless not just because we lost so much but because I also recently lost both of my parents so to feel like I'm surrounded by family is just something I can't even explain. The building that I'm in in particular is really cool. All of our neighbors are fun and friendly and we have all become fast friends. I've never lived anywhere where I walk out my door and see my neighbor and we give each other hugs... That is such a great feeling!! I promise you if you are looking for an amazing place to live with a welcoming community and a safe environment and a beautiful location with excellent schools... Plus the pool the weight room and the community building---you definitely want to live here. Not to mention just when I thought living here couldn't get any better...last night we heard all kinds of fire truck sirens and then we went out to see what was going on... SANTA CLAUSE WAS HERE!!!! He was actually in a boat being towed by a fire truck!! All I could do was stand there and cry as I saw my daughter's face light up for the first time in months. it's been so hard to try to find the Christmas spirit when tragedy hits your family.. and last night just solidified that moving here was the best decision we could have ever made. And just as a side note the maintenance crew here is absolutely ridiculously fantastic I just can't say enough about them.. and wait until you meet Hannah and Anne in the front office... Their smiles are intoxicating and they really treat you like they've known you all their lives. We will forever be grateful to The Villas of Castleton for giving us our home back and for welcoming us with open arms. When you come to see your new home..please mention my blog!! Thank you!
