The food is good, but the service is awful. Ordered a Diet Coke and I was given a regular coke, I asked for the all American burger because they were out of chicken- asked for no onions and no smasher sauce. I received onions and smasher sauce. Not a complete dealbreaker, but definitely shows signs of poor management/ training. If you eat on the patio the staff often time forget you're there. Overall the food is great but the cove definitely needs to work on hiring better team members and not forgetting about customers wants and/or needs. read more

Our favorite after sport go-to! The Italian Stallion pizza (sans. Italian sausage, sub pepperoni) is SO good! We've also very much been enjoying the patio now that it is warmer out. New business working out new business kinks. Came in on a very busy Friday at lunch time. When we were sat at our table, we noticed how many tables didn't have food, so I expected the wait to be a little bit before we'd be eating. When our waitress came to take our order, my husband said "you probably want to take the order at that table before us" pointing to the folks at the table beside us. The waitress said something that I didn't catch but made me think they had been taken care of already, so we ordered. Well, they had NOT been waited on and they were getting rightfully mad. They finally got waited on after waiting awhile longer. I had my fingers crossed that their order would be "rushed" since it wasn't fair they had waited so long. Nope. We got our food. We ate our food. We boxed up our leftovers and as I was paying the bill, and that local couple next to us who still hadn't gotten their food asked me if we ordered ahead. Sadly I told them no... and we felt bad for them. I hope their food was hot, accurate, and tasty when they finally got it because you need to take care of your locals. They would come back time and time again. They mentioned giving new restaurants time to get their process worked out. I hope the processes do improve. There is potential. Since every table was filled, the dining room was L-O-U-D. I could barely hear my husband. I definitely had a hard time hearing the couple next to us. I just don't do well in loud environments so when I return, it will be at an off-peak time. Softer surfaces on the walls would really help with that. Parking spots are SMALL. If you have a truck or SUV... good luck. Now for the food. I got the TWA sandwich--that is a "turkey with attitude". The smoked turkey and smoked mozzarella were really good and there was plenty of raspberry jalapeño bacon jam so I could taste it. I didn't really notice crispy fried onions or romaine but it's possible the onions were on the bottom. As I ate it, I kept thinking how dynamite this sandwich would be warmed. It was served as a cold sandwich. I took home half of it and I'll heat it up. I was not impressed with the lukewarm fries. I wish I had thought to ask for any other side. My husband got a large All Meat pizza. It was good. My only complaint is that the plates are so small that your pizza hangs off the edges for sure. Need bigger pizza plates and bigger napkins (bar napkins are too small to use while eating). I'm sure we will be back after awhile, to let them iron out their new business processes. The pizza crust is nice. There's enough chew to be satisfying, thin enough to be cooked all the way. I am hoping I can increase my rating after we visit again. read more

Solid Start for a New Spot, But Needs Some Tuning My wife and I were pretty pumped when The Cove opened up in our area just about a week ago. We decided to check it out last night around 6pm. We walked in right behind another family who got seated immediately, but we stood there for a bit while a few employees asked if we'd been helped and then... didn't help. Another group came in behind us and were as well assisted to a table. Eventually, the lady at the counter took care of us and quoted a 15-minute wait, which was spot on. No big deal for a brand-new place. The space is modern, clean, and bright, lots of TVs on the walls and a couple more over the small central bar. It's got a bright hotel sports bar vibe going, but heads up: it's extremely loud in there, even with just a handful of tables filled. Conversation required some yelling, which wasn't ideal for a casual dinner. Service was friendly enough, our server got drinks out quick and food orders in without issue. The pretzel bites appetizer came out hot and timely (a bit dark and greasy, but tasty with that cheese sauce). The cheeseburger was solid: cooked right, decent flavor (though it could've used a touch more seasoning), and came with a generous pile of seasoned fries that were spot-on crispy. The buffalo chicken pizza looked great on arrival, but sadly, the flavor fell flat. It was mostly dominated by bell peppers, with barely any detectable buffalo kick or chicken presence. The crust was actually a highlight, light, firm, and flavorful, but overall, the pie was just kinda meh and forgettable. Had to flag down someone a couple times for a plate after the pizza arrived, and refills were a little slow. Parking situation isn't great either, which added to the minor hassles. For a spot that's only been open a week, things weren't bad at all, the food was decent (if unmemorable), and it's exciting to have this new option in town. But the combo of the ear-splitting noise, some service hiccups, and dishes that didn't wow made it a middle-of-the-road experience. I'm optimistic they'll iron out the kinks soon. Service was good, fairly busy at 1145am. Nice looking building, comfortable chairs, well laid out. We ordered cheese bread to start, SUPER cheesy!!The man child got a 12"pizza with black olives and jalapenos. He said the crust was a little soft but good. He ordered lite sauce and said it was a good amount. I got the Balboa. It was a good size, but very dry. Needs mayo or oil and vinegar or some kind of liquid. I asked for a side of ranch and put that on it. The bread was fresh as well as the ingredients too. All in all, we'll be back for sure. read more

We went to The Cove for the first time and we were not disappointed. Their jalapeno jack cheese curds were awesome. I had the meatball sub and it was fantastic. I eat here with my girlfriend today for lunch. I think we got the last two parking spots so it was encouraging to see a full parking lot. We were a little worried that it might be a long way to get a table. But we seated right away. Our waiter or waitress was very accommodating. Checked on us kept us happy refilled our drinks and was quick to get our order. We had a barbecue pizza which we both agreed was very good cooked well seasoned well. Everything about it was just a pleasure to have. And on a killed afternoon, it really hit the spot. We got the smaller size and it was plenty for two people, but I think one slice left over. The restaurant is very warm very inviting feels very comfortable. It has good design and a good layout and just fits the space really well really hard for me to find anything negative about this restaurant so while I am shocked to actually say based off my experience of eating multiple times in Platte City Platte City might really have a very good restaurant now and you should check it out because it was awesome. read more

Food: did not enjoy the pizza, if you like a more New York style then I'd give this a try but I was not for me. The burgers and fries do make up for that, their dessert options are a little lacking but aren't terrible. The prices aren't cheap, I think my entire meal (burger, fries, and drink was $17-$20). Services: the times I've gone it's been good, though I'm not really someone to start something with people that handle my food. They were very attentive, however we did go when the had just opened so I don't know how it would be later in the day. Ambiance: not terrible, seating is a little close together but not bad, I wouldn't be having your kids and whatnot out of their seats. Honestly the worst part is the parking. I feel like the best solution would be for the staff to park off-site and carpool to the restaurant as that would open up some spots. Their 'solution' to customers parking at neighboring businesses is to park at the near by ballpark, which works until summer when those are full as well. Would I go again? Sure, it just wouldn't be my first (or really second) choice. read more

The second time we had the classic burger and spinach artichoke dip. The food and service were top notch both times! Looking forward to going back and trying more things! We were looking forward to this place opening for months! Our first try, amazing! After that it's been 100% spot-on. There hasn't been anything we've ordered that wasn't good. We've only ordered to-go, which apparently is standard to screw up these days at most restaurants. The place is popping every time I walk in to pick up the order. The environment is lively, energetic, fun. What sparks me to write this review isn't in how good the place is, but how well they nailed it when there was a mistake this evening. We ordered a few entrees, one being the kids chicken w/fries. There must've been a miscommunication because we received the chicken but no fries. To be exact, we had 1 more piece of chicken than the kids meal, but 2 less pieces than the appetizer. I called and inquired about the fries. They said they'd make me fresh fries. When I arrived I got hot, fresh fries. What I didn't expect was the additional 2 pieces of chicken to make it an appetizer rather than a kids meal. It's not the extra food that made it memorable and worthy of praise. It's the fact that they cared enough to go above and beyond to make things perfect. How can you ask for more from any business? Produce a quality product, provide great service, care about your customers. These are 3 essential things that I believe have been missing from companies, restaurants especially, for several years now. The Cove Team has revived customer service in a small town restaurant. Excellent food and service was top notch. I had the meatballs with pita chips and it was amazing, like something an Italian grandmother would make. Definitely 10/10 for me. My boyfriend had the wings, he said they were prob 8/10 and pizza was prob 7/10 (wood fired type pizza oven) only because he prefers a different style crust but he said it was still very tasty. Overall it was great and we would return if we were back in town, as we had business in the area that night. Worst experience ever. When my husband and I arrived, there was only one other table with a couple of diners. We ordered soda and the Cove cheese bread, which was undercooked and sitting in a pool of butter. We also ordered a Caprese salad that consisted of a small bed of spinach and basil, three cherry tomatoes cut up, a bit of cheese, and a drizzle of balsamic vinaigrette. For our main course, we ordered a large pepperoni and mushroom pizza. After 55 minutes, we finally received the pizza, only to find that it was half mushroom and half pepperoni. The waitress explained that the cooks were having a rough day. The pizza was inedible--the bottom was covered in inches of clumped flour stuck to the crust. Once the waitress realized the mistake and saw the flour on the bottom, she handed us the bill. The total, including tip, was over $55 for a pizza we had to take home because of the long wait. Fortunately, as we left, we passed a Dairy Queen, which saved the day with a quick dinner. read more
