Chipotle turkey and bacon panini with turkey veggie soup.
    Tee E.

There really isn't anything special about this place other than it is the only place at the ferry terminal. It's only open spring through fall though, so keep that in mind. Small little family run place. There's always a little kid running around "helping" but that's cute. The food itself isn't great, which is too bad since the menu is so limited. I had the chipotle turkey and bacon panini. I asked for white bread (the other option was brown) and it must have come on rye. Funny taste to the bread. The turkey is dry and bland. The soup that came with it (turkey and veggie) is mush, but at least it's home made. I eat here every time I come through though, because it is always lunch time, and there's nothing else around.

Waiting for this place to open again after a long closure! It has loads of potential. A great view at the end of the road.

Best soup I've ever had. Had the Morrocan Spicy Chickpea soup. It was excellent. Thick and delicious with the perfect amount of spice.

My father in law who knows a lot about wood was admiring that the cabin is made of cedar, the highest quality wood, and it was unfinished, as it is the most naturally weatherproof wood (though not perfect). There's a stream below where kids can play. Great way to end our hike. * Veggie sandwich - 4.5 stars. Bread very fresh and spongy with a thick crust. Veggies were super fresh and the hummus was a nice touch. * Ham sandwich - 3 stars. Same great bread, very minimalist, thick pieces of ham and cheese. * Cinnamon Roll - 4 stars. Very soft and fresh. * Balsamic Peach Spritzer - 4 stars, at first I thought it was a little bland and just like soda water, but as I got near the bottom, it was more sweet. Make sure to mix it!

There is seating all around the deck and then out back there are picnic tables and logs amongst the trails. And that's where the magic of it all stops. There are wasps everywhere. In the pastry cabinet, where people are sitting, dead in the windowsills, it's swarming with them and they are not deterred by a light swat away. They're as hungry as you are arriving. I got a golden latte and there was so much dry cinnamon or nutmeg on top my mouth dried out like the Saharan desert! It tasted awful but you know who loved it? The wasps. I ordered two of them with my wife adjacent to me and only one came out. So I kindly approached the staff about the missing beverage and they were forcefully adamant that I only ordered one. Why would I only order one beverage for two grown adults? How hard is it to say "oops we made a mistake/misunderstood?" So they made me go back to the register and pay for another drink which is just poor customer service and ultimately just a dumb decision when I didn't make the mistake in the first place. It's a self service place and I regret leaving a tip at all.

The biscuit was perfect--buttery, fluffy, and nicely crusty on the outside. The hollandaise was also quite good. However, the eggs were a bit overcooked for my preference; the whites were solid and the yolks were mostly set rather than runny. Overall, it was a very flavorful meal, and I will definitely return when I'm back on the Sunshine Coast

The location is fantastic--right across from the water, making it a great place to grab a bite and enjoy the views. What I liked most was that they offer much more than just ice cream. There were plenty of food options, including salads, pastries, and sandwiches. We initially came for the ice cream and ended up trying a few other things as well. The ice cream had some unique flavors, and I chose one with caramel, which I really enjoyed. The scoop size was very generous, and the staff member helping us was incredibly sweet and friendly. We also tried a pesto salad, which was fresh and tasty. I had a sparkling wine as well, though I can't really judge it fairly since I'm not much of a wine drinker. Overall, this is a great spot for food, desserts, and waterfront views. I'd especially recommend grabbing something to go and enjoying it by the water during sunset. Definitely a place I'd visit again.

The service was incredibly kind and attentive, and the coffee was great. That said, the food fell short for us. The Hangover Cure was essentially a large bowl of potato wedges...not quite what we expected from the name. The taco salad had a beautiful presentation, but didn't fully deliver on flavor. The chilaquiles were basically dry nachos with very little sauce, and didn't capture the richness or texture I usually associate with the dish. We also ordered the breakfast burger without bacon, and were surprised to find there wasn't any sort of patty or protein substitute...it was just eggs and veggies. It would've been helpful if that had been made clear when ordering. Overall, I really wanted to love this spot because the energy and staff were lovely, but the food didn't quite match the atmosphere. Still worth checking out for coffee, snacks, and the fun shop section!

This is a great cafe to grab a coffee, any other hot drinks &/or something tasty to eat. Word to…read morethe wise, kitchen shuts an hour prior to actual closing time. So no tasty sandwiches that last hour. However, you can still order the remaining baked treats that last hour there open (& really, that's not a bad thing if you have a sweet tooth!). The layout feels like it's two shops & allows for lots mixed seating & one great long table with giant benches. This also means one needs to be able to navigate through tighter spots easily if you're sitting down before your order is ready (or for my friends that look for accessible work arounds, going through the doors opposite to the sign suggestions to avoid any unfortunate drink/food disasters would be a good strategy). There's separate entrance/exit doors but the way the long line up to order occurs inside, the exit door is smarter to enter into the cafe (if you're able). There's also some tables outside along the street & a bench along the wall. If the weather is decent, I usually opt for that outside option. Otherwise, I prepare myself for a louder cafe experience being that this location is busy right to the end of the day. The staff is always friendly here. I greatly appreciate that the cashier took time to ask about any soy in certain baked treat options I was considering (after finding out I couldn't do a tasty turkey sandwich I was hoping for). In the past I've enjoyed breakfast sandwiches & lunch sandwiches. Both worthy of me to return to enjoy again. Being that it's awhile since I stopped here, I opted to try their seasonal latte. Usually I go with their tasty mocha. So I have to say for all the spices listed in the drink, I really didn't taste the difference between that special seasonal latte & a regular latte. However, still a very decent latte & gave me the needed caffeine boost after wandering through my first QB Christmas market before stopping at the cafe. As Qualicum Beach is known for their senior population, this place (like many others) has the basics checked off for accessibility. However, if I had anyone joining me with a walker or wheelchair, I would definitely suggest we find a table first & then I would go up to order for everyone. This being even with a cane, I find it is really hard to navigate back to the tables once you've got the order. They have a small bathroom tucked at the back but you need to be able to navigate around many tables to reach it. The lightning never bothers my eyes in here but at full capacity, anyone with hearing issues or noise sensitivity would have issues. Overall, a decent local place with a lot of regular tasty menu items.
