First time here and first time eating at a spot in Blue Island…read more Went here to celebrate a birthday The place is a cool size, nice and quaint. I think it was a bit dark inside but it was cute. Love the maps on the walls. The concept is cool to have different food items from over the globe. Loved that! I had the shrimp bao thrn I ordered the chicken bao. Both were amazing! Thank you Deja, our waiter for the recommendation. My friends had the steak frites and the steak was delicious! Moist for sure. I didn't try the wings but she said they were good. Looking forward to going back for brunch!

The service was second to none (thank you Deja), but the restaurant is sterile, cold and the music selection is a radio station the staff apparently likes and played way too loud during a morning brunch. This seems like a prep spot for her catering venture and not a five star dining establishment. In fact, there is NOTHING 5-Star about this dining experience. Even the website demonstrates that her focus is on catering large events--evidenced by the catering menus being featured and not the dining menus. As for the food, it was good, but nothing was exceptional. We shared the "Exotic Fruit & Berry Mosaic Board" -- a medley of delicious fresh fruit. My wife had the "Brioche French Toast" - French toast, eggs and choice of meat: (Pork Bacon, Turkey Bacon, Veggie Sausage, Chicken & Apple Sausage, Turkey Sausage). My son tried the Belgian waffles with bourbon maple syrup, eggs and sausage as the "choice of meat." I ordered a simple Belgian Waffle and was going to eat my wife's eggs and sausage since she hadn't eaten them. (Hmmmm????) I understand why she passed. The eggs were bland and the sausage links had an awful aftertaste. With all due respect, if you're not going to season the eggs, PLEASE put salt and pepper on the tables. $115 seemed ridiculously high for the quality of the food and no alcohol--and I've paid twice as much with no complaints at Virtue, Asciones etc. It breaks my heart to have not really enjoyed Easter Brunch at Edible Passport, but it felt like a bit of a dive, not a fine dining experience.

Country Thyme Tea Room and Catering - This is what I got when I ordered their pecan pie, it was not to my taste but I expect other people would really like it

It's a big open room and the date we were there it was slow so we didn't have to contend with much noise. Each table is set with flowers and pretty napkins as well as a little saying plaque. We were greeted promptly by a friendly waitress who took our drink order. They have a terrific variety of teas both hot and iced and my spiced iced chai was scrumptious. My entree was the fruity turkey sandwich which was nice turkey lunch meat, Swiss cheese, Craisins and a nice mix of greens with a yummy fruit spread. The bread was nice and soft and it was a generous portion. I got a side salad with it which was a splendid assortment of different greens and beautifully cut zucchini. The Italian vinaigrette was underwhelming though, next time, I'll try a different dressing. The soup of the day was this decadent creamy potato concoction with bacon on top which my dining companion had oh, she let me taste it oh, it was a meal all to itself! But she didn't quit there, she also got their pulled pork sandwich oh, she has gluten allergies so it came on gluten free bread and because the bread was small slices, the kitchen actually brought her out what amounted to almost two sandwiches. She liked it! They offered about eight different things for dessert and I tried the pecan pie. It was different from what I was expecting, chopped pecans and cream layer of some sort. It wasn't really to my taste. I should mention that the plates are served beautifully and each of us had a fruit skewer that just added to the whole thing. They have an area off the main dining room where a group of about 12 could sit with some privacy although it's near the kitchen so not the same Ambiance as the main dining room. It's a shame to see the negative reviews, that was certainly not our experience today.

Good service and lots of tea-themed gifts in the gift shop area. Well worth a visit and I am looking forward to my next trip through the area.
