I emailed them, expressing my interest in a few items. While I didn't expect a response until they were open, Fran invited me to stop by anyway (we had already departed the OBX). She was kind enough to process our order and ship it safely and securely to us. Again, all before they opened for the season! We were so very pleased with our purchases and the kind service. This continued today when Fran realized that they had charged us twice for our order, something I hadn't realized. She had issued a refund as soon as she learned about this and emailed me the receipt. Again, what an exceptional level of Customer service. We look forward to visiting Duck again and visiting with the good folks at Duck General Store in person!

It was interesting that they were having a "silver polishing party" while I was there. All of the ring trays were on top of the class counters and polishing was going on. Good sign! Other than jewelry, there was clothing, mugs, seashells, Christmas ornaments, etc.

The business has been slow for the past few months, but it is picking back up. The jewelry store and the Donuts On A Stick are owned by the same man. I have meet him before, but I did not see him today. Today Lisa was the employee in charge. The dog in the picture is the real boss. The service here is always excellent from when I have been here. The merchandise here is lovely and I almost bought something for myself. I might do aquire something here one day, but I will have to give it some thought. I am sure we will be back here before we leave next Sunday or Saturday. Until then, this place is one of my favorite stores in Duck North Carolina.

Wow - the Christmas Mouse, located in the Scarborough Lane Shoppes, is a huge store full of Christmas ornaments and other holiday décor. There is something about a forest of heavily decorated fake trees that I find truly mesmerizing. They even had an entire tree dedicated to the unicorn theme and I really regret not getting a photo of it. The huge selection of ornaments is mostly organized by theme, with some exceptions like the Olde World Christmas ornaments which I recall being all together. A lot of the ornaments are from familiar brands and I wish they had more that was locally made in the Outer Banks. Overall, it was fun wondering around this large store but I didn't add anything to my collection on this visit. However, I will plan to visit the newly built Christmas Mouse location in Nags Head this summer. Nearly two years after their store sadly burned down they have reopened in a lovely looking building.

They also accept tap to pay, but enact a % charge on all credit transactions. The ambiance inside can be described as rustic and quaint. It's really cute if you're looking to read and chill. It can get crowded as they're usually busy, but this is a great place to come if you're looking to relax. They have both hot and iced drinks with milk alternatives. The iced drinks come in medium (16oz) and large and the hot drinks come in small (12oz), medium and large. The banana cream pie latte was delicious. It tasted like caramel and bananas, paired well with the coffee, and was the perfect amount of sweet. The bumbleberry pie was okay too but the fruit and coffee combination wasn't my favorite. I'd definitely recommend coming here in the morning for coffee and browsing for books if you're in Duck, NC.

Tar Heel Trading Co. is full of lovely items made by artisans and craftsman from North Carolina and other parts of the United States. I spent a good bit of time in here admiring pottery, Christmas ornaments, soaps and such. My very favorite items were tiny little animals made out of pottery. I wish I could remember the artist as they are super adorable and their little pottery faces make me smile. I already have a few that I bought at a local pottery shop near my home so I didn't add any pottery pets to my collection but I sure did love looking at them! The employee working at Tar Heel Trading Co. was very welcoming and engaging but not in an overbearing way. Overall, shopping here was a very lovely experience and this is a great place to buy some high quality, genuinely made in NC items.

I found myself thinking about a new glass for myself, but decided against that. Still I enjoyed learn about the fish chiseled glass. The makers have all of their fish swimming in one direction except one. This has become the trademark of their chiseled glass art. The owner was down to earth very helpful. Hope to visit her store again one day.
