On the specialty drinks menu I couldn't resist the Berens Brandy Old Fashioned. I mean, I have been a fan of Charlie Berens for a few years but I didn't realize he had his own brandy for the definitive cocktail of Wisconsin. It was delicious, but it also turned out to be $12. For my second round I just got a regular brandy old fashioned which was also quite good, but weighed in at five bucks. Let the buyer beware. Which is ultimately why Pier Plaza fell short of the fifth star. The prices feel a bit high for what it is. Granted, it's right by the water, in a remote part of the state, and thrives on tourists. However they were out of whitefish that day so substituted trout with my approval. They were OK, the fine breading was a little tough and there was way too much fish on each tortilla. I wasted over half of the fish. Three huge tacos was too many, I would in retrospect suggest a choice of one, two or three. The slaw was not pineapple slaw as listed but still tasty. The french fries were hot and crispy, I am a french fry lover. We'll be back next visit.
