Meatball grinder
John P.

I went for lunch rush on a Thursday and was nervous when I saw the line of 10-15 people. But they serviced everyone pretty quickly and it only took 10 minutes to get my food. I order a meatball grinder and it was amazing. The meatballs are fresh and the sauce was good. This will be a mainstay for my lunches when in Hartford.

Chicken cutlet with marinara and red roasted peppers.

First time at cornerstone was 1989 back in the day when you would go out to lunch with coworkers! My favorite then and now is the hot chicken cutlet with marinara sauce and red roasted peppers as show in my pic. Cutlet lightly breaded the way I like it. They have that old school deli feel with order at counter and find an open table to enjoy. Due to COVID there lots of seats and very short lines. Come support this Hartford institution! #supportlocalbusiness

Chicken Cutlet Sandwich (Sorry for bad photo)
Dan M.

This place had a long line during peak hours during lunchtime. The line did move quickly for the amount of people that were there. There was a large board with lots of different menu options. I ordered the 8 inch chicken cutlet sandwich with all the works (provolone cheese, mayo, lettuce, tomato, jalapenos, banana peppers, onions, and pickles ($6 or so). I am pretty sure those were all the toppings. I have no clue why I wanted everything. As for the sandwich itself, it was very solid. The bread was ideal and the chicken cutlet was very tender. Will I go back? Easily.

This place is always really crowded. They have a pretty extensive sandwich menu and the prices are really good. Its a better value than the chain sandwich shops IMO. Buuuuuut the sandwich's are just ok to me. There's wayyyy too much meat (I took out 75% of my ham and it was still a lot). I've also had the chicken cutlet before and didn't care for it (not really flavorful) but it's very popular so it could just be me. I gave it 3 Stars because while the food is ok (2 Stars) the price bumps it up a star. I got a sandwich, chips, and drinks for like 7.50. Can't beat that.

Chicken Cacciatore grinder

This place gets pretty crowded during lunch hours. It is difficult to get in and out of this place because of the long line twisting and curling in side the deli. I had one of there specials - chicken cacciatore grinder. Price was around seven bucks. For that price it was a lot of grinder. It tasted good though I would have preferred it with more flavor and spices. They added hot sauce for me, still felt it mild. Glass display of the proteins was a little difficult to see because of condensation. People were friendly.

1.) Just to warm you up: Just like another place I've been wanting to go to, Corner Stone has very limited hours. I hate that. Finally, I was able to come here and try everything out. 2.) What your eyes may see (Overall rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars): a.) Location (5 out of 5): Down town Hartford. Right across from the Hartford Library and museum, great place to pick up food before, during and after. b.) Inside (4 out of 5): It's actually a pretty big place to sit and eat with a good amount of tables. It looks generally clean. They serve an assortment of chips and beverages. 3.) Food (Overall rating 4 out of 5 stars): a.) Sandwich: I ordered the 8" Pastrami Sandwich with the works (L, T, O, P, Oil, Mayo). Delectable. Friggin awesome! You get a nice heaping portion of meat. I got it with a side of Deep River Sea Salt & Vinegar chips. A sandwich isn't complete without its family - chips, his wife, and soda, his grown up son/daughter. That's what I like from an Italian deli. That's Amore! 4.) Service (Overall rating: 4 out of 5 stars): a.) Speed (5 out of 5): It was the afternoon rush. I managed to order my sandwich and had it ready in about 3 minutes. b.) Staff (3 out of 5): I guess I should give it the benefit of the doubt. There was a rush so some of the staff were trying to expedite the process of getting the food out to customers. One kinda gave me a little attitude, but the cashier was a sweetheart. 5.) Impressions: I love my Italian deli sandwiches. My head is in Connecticut, but my soon to be clogged arteries and heart reside in New York. Come here if you'd like to Manja Manja Manja on a great pastrami sandwich. Next time I'll be eating the othe raved about sandwiches. Massaging all those numbers from each component makes me rate them between a 4 or 5 stars. Unfortunately Yelp doesn't do .5 of a star, unless you're looking at the overall distribution. This is my new before work sandwich place!

8 in turkey grinder with everything is $6.25. That's a great deal. They PILE the turkey on...you'll have some spillage for sure.

Really good deli food, but the line was 20 people deep right at noon during the work week.

Great sandwiches. It's very busy at lunch--but the line moves quick. The servings are large, tasty and cheap.

"Rose darling come to me All I ask of you…read moreIs make my wildest dreams come true" (Steely Dan) You probably don't need a PHD in linguistics to surmise that the Italian words "La Rosa" translates into the English words "The Rose". And if your wildest dreams happen to revolve around Italian comfort foods and well stacked sandwiches, well, do I have a place to make those wildest dreams come true for you! La Rosa is your quintessential Italian deli with dozens of grinders, paninis, wraps, salads, soups and a daily hot bar of pasta and chicken entrees. We ordered a grilled Panino Melenzani ($12) with eggplant, tomato, fresh mozzarella, basil and olive oil. It was grilled right in front of our eyes, so it was as fresh as could be. It had plenty of tender sliced eggplant, yummy cheese and fresh tomatoes. I went with my usual, an Italian Combo (half size for $14) stacked a mile high with Ham, Turkey, Genoa, Mortadella, Capicola, and Provolone with lettuce, tomato, onions, and peppers on a fresh loaf of Italian bread. It was superb, and the portion size was so generous that it lasted me for three lunches. As we were paying, we spied some home-made cookies by the register and grabbed an oatmeal and a chocolate chip to take home. Everything ran $32 for a ton of wonderful Italian goodness. We didn't get a chance to check out the hot bar. It wasn't open today because LaRosa's Marketplace was closing early for personal reasons. But I promise you, the next time we visit we'll leave with one of their chicken or pasta entrees. We love our Italian delis, and LaRosa's has immediately shot up into our top tier.
