I have had a really positive experience with all of the maintenance team at this apartment complex. What I would like to point out in a team of outstanding people is that John goes above and beyond. He is consistently professional and efficient. He is one of the genuinely nicest people I have ever met. He consistently makes a great impression. What really stands out is his attention to detail,  his willingness to explain the issue(s), and his patience with any question(s) I have had. He makes sure everything is working properly before leaving and he always leaves the space clean. It is evident that John takes pride in his work and truly cares about ensuring residents are comfortable and well taken care of. DONT MOVE HERE!!!!!! My mailbox got broken into and my car was stolen months apart. Haven't lived here 6 months. Cameras don't exist in keeping the hallways safe, the garage safe, or the mailroom safe. The service request option on the app doesn't work and has no available dates at all for years. The office never responds or picks up. I'm going to keep writing about my experiences here because women shouldn't move here alone, ITS NOT SAFE and no one cares, especially those in charge of the tenants safety (installing proper cameras). Hallways, parking lots, common and shared areas are not private areas and do not break Texas privacy laws if cameras are installed. Management told me because of the privacy laws they don't have cameras in hallways. Austin PD told me they didn't have enough camera footage from the apartment building because cameras weren't pointing where they should have. This means they don't have proper surveillance and are being cheap about the amount of cameras installed. Meaning they don't care about the tenants safety and aren't helpful to Austin PD. The reason they didn't capture who grabbed/stole my keys from my front door, who walked to my car, got in, and drive away, is because they don't have ANY CAMERAS PROTECTING US. My mail box which had a new lock at the time was broken into months later after my car was stolen! It's highly likely that whoever broke into my mailbox and the people who stole my car, were NOT THE SAME PEOPLE since my mailbox lock was changed when my car was stolen. This building has a SAFETY ISSUE and every comment from management is proving they don't take accountability or are whiling to fix it. All we hear are excuses justifying the problems and blaming the tenants. From reading reviews about surprise fees and charges after you move out, I'm sure they'll hit me with a surprise bill If i install ring cameras and have to drill them. Leasing agent Alex Murry and staff have created a hostile, untrustworthy living experience. I signed a renewal addendum for a TV and June rent concession. While the rent credit was applied, the TV has been withheld with shifting excuses -- none of which were stated in the lease. This is also despite multiple emails promising delivery dates that have since passed. I was berated and threatened with eviction after quietly muttering "wtf" to myself at the end of a phone call -- then issued a lease violation over it. Alex Murry proceeded to call me back four times in a row, clearly trying to escalate the situation, and began yelling at me to "stop being disrespectful" because I had ended the call without warning. Fortunately, I record all of my calls and have documentation of the entire exchange. They've also deflected when I raised serious issues, including residents being locked out of the building for days due to broken entry doors, with no compensation or safety measures provided. When I first moved in, and about for my first year, I had an amazing experience at The Copeland! The staff is very attentive and ensures all residents are happy and that any issues are fixed in an extremely timely manner. Unfortunately, I feel as though my experience had gone downhill recently since moving in May of 2023. Something always seems to be broken, and takes multiple weeks to be serviced. The shattered screens and ripped-off floor labels in the elevators don't make me feel safe in this community, especially knowing that vandalism is occurring. The door system to access the building is now broken, and because physical keys are not provided, it's nearly impossible to get inside without wandering around hoping to find someone nearby to knock and let you in. This is absolutely unacceptable. Why are we paying amenity fees when none of the amenities, or even basic building access, are in working condition? read more

Special thanks to the staff for always helping with the best attitude and keeping the activities (foodtrucks, drink n go, giveaways) following the covid protocols. The location is great, walking distance to Domain. Top reason why I chose to live here. The floor layout options are great. I looked other apartments in the area and the most common for 1 room/1 bath is go to the bath through the bedroom. I hated that guests had to enter my room to use the bathroom. I am mainly in the domain area and decided to stop by and tour since my lease is up at the end of October. When I called the office I was greeted by someone named Pam. She was super friendly and super excited to show me the apartment complex. She said they had apartments with yards which is perfect for myself and my dog. I decided to stop by and tour and loved the location of the community. Pam was super friendly, knowledgeable, and greeted everyone that we passed in the building. I lived at the Copeland for almost a full year with my two pups! We loved it. My dogs still cry if we drive past because they still think of it as their home. The front office is so nice and friendly. They are very responsive to emails if you have any questions or concerns. When I lived their I didn't have any issues with not getting notifications for packages. I always received them as soon as my mail arrived. I also never heard my neighbors playing loud music or got any frat type vibe. The residents are all pretty friendly and I met a lot of people when walking my dogs around. The only problem I had was I did receive a complaint about not using the black trash for trash but the person down from me always put out their trash not in a can. The only reason I moved out was due to the large increase in rent. Otherwise I would have renewed my lease. read more

I've lived here 16 months and under the old management- it was great! Under this new management, I've had 4 packages stolen, vehicles are broken into weekly (*in the gated parking garage* and we had 14 broken into on July 4 alone). Police cars are always outside. The side doors don't shut all the way so randoms will get into the building in the middle of the night. Move out charges are over exaggerated. The office offers no support and tells you to file with police, no security cameras on site. It's a nice place but run pretty poorly. read more

3rd review in 2 yrs. Unfortunately, not much has changed since the review last year. I and others have requested security be on-site at minimum game days/weekend nights. We deal w/homeless trespassers, nightly car break in's in our "secure garage", visitors/game attendees parking in our garage and 1AM pool parties with loud music and glass bottles in the pool. The office does not care if you lose sleep due to the parties. I have been told the security I'm requesting either doesn't exist or isn't in their budget. Ironically, it is in their budget to install a 20k pizza oven. I'm sure it will be beautiful until one of the entitled residents breaks it like the fire pits that haven't worked in a year. For the cost to live here, this property desperately needs security, fresh landscaping, new pool chairs, and sun umbrellas. The maintenance team is fantastic, so friendly and efficient. I'd give them 5 if I could! I love my unit. I love the tall ceilings, appliances, wood plank floors, and floorplan. One downfall is, The walls are paper thin. I can hear a brand new baby ALL night long. More sleep lost. I think the most concerning is that my legitimate concerns have been dismissed. In fact, I've been ridiculed for my concerns. This place is crazy!! There is no maintenance available even in the case of an emergency, except from 9:00 to 5:00. The place is constantly filthy- from the floors to the dog poop always left around. The smoke alarms are LOUD and go off quite often. There is no one to contact to get them shut off. The trains are also very loud and go by at all times of the day and night. I'm sad to write this review, because our apartment was lovely and the location was great. However, the interactions with the leasing office were and continue to be consistently awful. We moved out on January 31st, and our lease states that we will hear back from the Copeland within 30 days of the end of our lease with either our full deposit or details on why they are keeping some of our deposit. We have followed up 3 times and it has been over 60 days: no response to our emails and no details on the deposit. We had many observations and frustrations with the office staff while living here (inadequate cleaning of common areas, no ownership over cleaning dog poop from common areas or actually confronting owners who allow their dogs off leash), but we had one specific incident after moving out that sticks with me. I accidentally mailed a package to our old address. I realized the day it was delivered and they agreed to hold the package for me until I could retrieve it. Clearly this was not communicated with the entire team and the package was lost. It was my mistake to have the package sent there, but why agree to hold it if you aren't really going to do so? While waiting in the lobby for the team to check for it, the person working the front desk was not wearing a mask. I was there for an extended period (20+ minutes) and found this to be totally unacceptable (masks were still required in TX, definitely in Austin, and by the policy of the Copeland), but I didn't feel like I could do anything because they were doing me a favor by looking. For this review, please keep in mind the property management company had changed about midway through our lease, so some information may not be completely relevant. We moved into this apartment complex in July of 2019. When we toured, we were ensured the train nearby only ran during the day, and was specifically a commuter train. Within the first couple days, it was clear this wasn't the case. When we asked if we could move apartments to an interior apartment in hopes of it being quieter (we had a north exterior room), we were told we'd have to pay a 800(?) dollar fee. While inconvenient, the train noise was horrible (plus, our downstairs neighbor played music very loudly a couple times our first week at 2 in the morning). After moving in, things were okay. During our stay, it was clear parts of the apartment weren't great though (listed below). When we moved out, we were told the oven top was unrepairable. We never used the oven for anything other than cooking. We never dropped anything on the oven either. It was all normal use. Regardless, we got charged several hundred dollars for a replacement. We tried to work through this with the management company and were told they could do nothing. This seemed unreasonable given the circumstance. 1. Cleanliness- It was clear this wasn't a priority. The floors in the hallways were only cleaned once while we were there (a little over a year). Our friends brought their dog in, who is fully potty trained, had an accident on the floors and I have no trouble assuming this is because they smell like a potty spot to the pups. We've seen other dogs pee in the elevators, on the walls, etc. while there. Further, someone spilled some brown beverage in the fourth floor hallway and for the month after it had happened (then we moved), it was still on the wall. Additionally, on the grass all around the apartment, you can find a lot of dog poop that was never cleaned up by the owners. Other residents have also mentioned to management to use one of the many DNA fecal sample services to stop this, but the management has no interest in it. Further, they don't get a service to clean this up. 2. Safety- Many of the instances I'm sure we don't hear about. But when you see a truck on cinder blocks several times, you know someone is stealing their tires. The security is pretty lax, even if it's a gated garage. It's super easy to tailgate in. Plus, many of the exterior doors do not fully close and lock. I know I can always get in to play pool or use the pool in the future because of this. But it's also a security issue. 3. Warnings- It was also clear they chose when it was convenient to give notices for leaving trash out. We left our trash can out past 10a one day and got a notice. But many residents leave their trash out over the weekend without notice, even though that's what causes some of the bad smells in the hallways. 4. Costs- The apartment complex has several costs that are a bit much. IE: "Smart" device costs, package costs, etc. 5. Amenities- Obviously with COVID amenity use is minimal right now. But it's a big shame that we're still paying for these even though we can't use them. Further, the pools seemed to be in maintenance half of the week. 6. Fixes- Being a new apartment, as with a newer home, things break for unknown reasons. Our experience was: if it's easy to fix, they'll do it, otherwise, they won't. Our porch was unusable for nearly the whole time it was there because it was too much work to fix (warped). Further, some of our cabinets wouldn't open because the island collapsed down a bit, offsetting the drawers/doors. Other things were addressed well though, so this may be hit or miss. 7. Garage- The garage is tight. It's not helped by the oversized trucks, many of which seem to love to park on the end caps where it's extra dangerous to drive through. This was very annoying to deal with and we've heard of some other residents getting in accidents. 8. Dogs- So we have a dog, she's a shy poodle who is very timid of other dogs. Often though, the dogs on the first floor facing the stadium with yards are slightly aggressive. This was good to train our dog, but also got annoying to be barked at by 5 dogs every evening we walked her. So, enough of the bad. Some good things: 1. Pete: Pete was great. He's the only one I've seen clean up around the place (inside and outside). He's super quick to reply, open to hearing criticisms, and a really nice guy. I can't say the same for others on the management team. 2. Nice: The place is nicer than most. The lounge area is also really nice, and usually pretty quiet. They do have some unique amenities that are cool, ie: private offices, two pools, etc. 3. Dog park: The dog park has add some nice improvements like seating and covering. This was great when COVID had shut down many of the parks and whatnot. 4. Residents: The residents here are very friendly. 5. On-call: The on-call number was a nice option. read more

This place is a dump and they will scam you out of your deposit. I dealt with Jack John directly and on moving out, I spent an entire day deep cleaning and even went to the office to get touch up paint to touch up some of the little spots where I had pictures hanging. I had jack walk through the property to confirm that I would get my deposit back and he said "yes, it looks great!" and then he left the management (which by the way, they rotate people in and out like crazy). I did't get my deposit back and I've called once a week since to see why. Everyone seems to say "Jack finished it and he left so we can't do anything." Don't expect your deposit back, they switch out people like it's a circus, there's dog shit in almost every elevator and the views are shit. read more

I have even seen the poor girls from leasing office cleaning the floors and elevators because the management can't get cleaning people for the complex. People litter and leave boxes in hallways. Ceiling lights are coming undone and hallway art is missing. People leave trash by the trash chutes. There is no enforcing on behalf of building. Parking is insane during game days and cars get towed. My own car has been ransacked. And I've seen some get broken into in the street. It's a shame such a cute building with high rent can be so unkept. read more

I've lived her for a little over 6 months and have no complaints so far. The front office team is always super friendly too and they are always organizing COVID friendly activities/giveaways for the residents to participate in! Ive lived at the Copeland for a few months now, overall it has been a good experience. When I moved from LA to Austin I looked at 11 places in and around the domain, and from an amenities and upkeep standpoint it was definitely the nicest, plus the staff is really helpful, kind, and friendly. My one complaint however is a big one. BEWARE OF THE TRAIN! It runs all throughout the day and has woken me up on several occasions, as early as 4AM. Especially because I am currently working from home, if I knew how often the train goes by and how much it would affect me, I may have reconsidered. Again, be sure to keep in mind how noisy the area can be with the train especially when/if it wakes you up in the middle of the night, but at the same time you will not find a more helpful, friendly and courteous staff in the area. read more

Maintenance and management has been great, even after the acquisition/change in management that took place October 2019. I had some billing issues during the management change, and they helped clean it up quickly. The community encourages the use of phone apps to get packages and open doors for guests, which is a nice touch. Also, the keyless entry on my apartment is cool. Knocking off two stars for the following reasons that I don't see as correctable: 1. The walls are REALLY thin. I hear my neighbors above me walking around (every unit is 100% laminate), people talking in the hallways, and people talking in their apartments when I'm in the hallways. And you'll hear the trains going by day and night. 2. Guest parking in the garage is scant. You can technically have guests park on Aguilar St, but this is also a limited resource as the only other adjacent road is Braker. I'm not sure how the situation will worsen once the soccer field next door has finished construction. read more

On the plus side, this apartment is close to the Domain, next to the brand-new Q2 Stadium (you can see 75% of the field from the rooftop, and 100% view of the Jumbotron), and for those that own dogs, it is a pet friendly community. The building is only 2 years old, and smells brand new. There are very modern amenities like valet trash, carpetless floors, keyless entry to your apartment, Smart home features (control your A/C and lights from an app), and even buzz people into the building from an app on your phone. You also don't need to worry about stolen packages because the community has package lockers! And although there is some noise whenever there is a game happening and from the passing light-rail train, it is not so bad and you can get used to that in my opinion. And the community is protected overnight by a courtesy officer, who handles any after hours noise-related complaints (I think it is an actual police officer). During office hours, the staff is always willing to help with noise complaints during the day. The parking deck is well-lit, secured by a gate starting in the first floor, and so are all the entrances from the Garage to the apartment hallways. There are also cameras on each floor of the Parking Garage. I feel pretty safe whenever I get home at 2AM, walking from the garage to my apartment. On the other hand, the construction of the building is such that you can hear EVERYTHING from your next door or above-level neighbors. You can hear arguments, music, you can hear all footsteps or jumping, above you. You can hear it so loudly, you can think the sounds comes from your apartment. And unfortunately, some people smoke weed on their balconies and you can easily smell this if you are on your balcony. The average age of the resident at this building seems to be 24, which is not a problem, except it can get noisy depending on who your neighbors are. If proximity to the Domain and pricing is your objective, this may be a good choice, but if peace and quiet is your objective, maybe look elsewhere? read more

Poor Customer Service - We weren't sent our lease to sign when all our documentation and payment was turned in (we had to call them for it), and it took too long to resolve a wrongly charged insurance lapse fee. Construction - It was shoddy in my unit. There was paint splatter on floors and cabinets, crooked outlets, misaligned strike plates on doors, pencil marks, corner beads showing, COMPLETELY PAINTED OVER LIGHT SWITCH COVERS, cracks in backsplash grout, cheap roller shades, and the lock on sliding glass door becomes misaligned easily. We were the first to live in our unit. Dishwasher - Not spacious due to tower design and utensil basket placement. It has a latch and dial design and does not clean that well. The stainless-steel finish is a poor attempt to hide how cheap it probably is. Bad Pet Owners - I love pets, but this is an issue here. Dog feces on sidewalks, grass, and stairwells and urine in halls, stairwells, and elevators from time to time. Some owners let their dogs off leash. Management also has some blame since they could get someone to pick up this waste when owners do not and have real repercussions for those who are not responsible pet owners. Warning emails every blue moon does not cut it. No one wants to live somewhere covered in feces and urine. Trash Rules - Some tenants do not put trash bags inside given trash bins for pickup, which is gross (that provided bin is not supposed to be your main trash bin, get your own bin). Tenants will walk to garbage chutes and leave garbage by shoots instead of putting it down the chute (If you gave the effort to bring it to the chute, you can just as easily put it down the chute. It is also gross (Exception being during the freeze). Management is poor at enforcing proper trash disposal. There are no repercussions. Cleaning of overall apartment could be better. The hallways, elevators, and stairwells are disgusting and show a lack of care (pet waste, trash, stains, etc). Their newer design choices in areas other than units are a bit tacky particularly in hallways and by elevators. Train Noise - Was not a big issue for me since my unit was further away from the train. Be aware of where you are compared to the train. Not management's fault if you pick an apartment by the tracks. Poor noise proofing between floors and hallway doors - You can make out general conversations of each unit by standing around a door, which should not happen. Poor negotiating rent in past COVID-19 renter's market - Slow communication, by the time I received an offer that was considerable, I already leased at a new place that ironically is more expensive. Specific to my unit Terrible Upstairs Neighbors - They have gotten into shouting matches that have led to domestic violence on occasion (but hey, they pay rent, and the people involved do not report it, so it is whatever to the company. Domestic violence friendly seemly). Very inconsiderate and awkward especially if you are working remote or live with someone that has experienced trauma. They also have a subwoofer, which is inconsiderate for apartment living (low frequency travels through walls/floors). They play music, not only loud with a subwoofer, but at first would do so with their balcony door open. They also blasted jazz at 3-4am as they slept. As someone who in the past worked in live sound, I do not believe they understand how sound works. I feel sorry for the person that will rent my unit, and I specifically got a top floor apartment somewhere else due to how bad these neighbors are. I understand how living in close quarters is give and take, but everyone should feel empowered to leave when they have terrible neighbors. I must give a two if you have good neighbors, but it could be a solid three or four if management focused on a cleaner community and rule enforcement. Management does not need for me to call following the cookie cutter response; they need to do better managing their property. Great thing about leases is that you do not have to stay if they are not doing enough for their tenants. read more

If there was just one word to describe this place it is......MAGICAL! The staff here is just amazing. We had the pleasure of working with the Senior Community Manager, Godfrey Cambel. He went above and beyond to answer all of our questions and toured multiple units to find the perfect one. They have 2 gorgeous pools, stellar fitness center and even work from home spaces! We also met Pete Damato and Krista Breslin who also works in the office. They were so warm and welcoming. :) Also the location is another HUGE selling point. It's in the Domain area but not directly in the Domain. Still close enough you can bike or scoot your way over to Rock Rose. Give this place a try, you won't be disappointed! They were alright while I was a resident but it has been a nightmare since I left - they were supposed to reach out to me within 30 days with a list of what was defected from my security deposit and they did any even get me that till way after that date after multiple requests from me. When they did get it to me I found out they deducted a bunch of stuff that I know for sure was clean and they won't send me pictures. It's been over two months and I haven't gotten that from them yet... I have never had to deal with worse service from any of my landlords before and potentially from any business ever. That complex itself isn't that great to begin with - the grills are absolutely horrible (and you can't have your own), everything is always broken so it basically has no security, loud train that comes all the time, is overpriced compared to other options, dog poop is literally everywhere, and they don't clean particularly a lot - so now that I know they have the worst former resident care team know to the free world I can confidently advise against considering becoming a resident here. Apartment looks beautiful but this is the loudest apartment I've ever lived in. Our downstairs neighbor has a baby and we're awaken every single night by the sound of the baby crying. Our downstairs neighbor complain about us making noise when we're hardly ever home. So the floors are obviously way too thin. When we are home we here every step our upstairs neighbors make and can hear their whole conversations. Our upstairs neighbors throw parties that last until 6 in the morning almost every other night (not sure how this is even possible) and the apartment did nothing even though we called in countless noise complaints. Don't live here if you want to be able to sleep through the night or not hear your neighbors. read more

Literally walking distance from The Domain, Burnett Rd has lots of restaurants and shopping as well, tons of breweries in every direction and Austin FC is your next door neighbor. Do not lease an apartment here.They are called luxury apartments but they are sub par apartments. They have dead roaches in the hallway, dog poo in the hallway and in the garage that doesn't get cleaned. Management can lie and say they have a contract with people to clean but if it was true, why are they still there weeks after. I know no one thinks about a year in advance but these people don't care for their tenants .Your there for a year and your lease is up and they go up by 200 no negotiations. They blame Elon Musk. If they cared about their tenants they would try to keep them. The Q2 is a problem you think it's a + until you move in. They hire security that sit in their car. Gates are always broken so are elevators. Rugs in the hall have so much stains.Packages are stolen from your door. A couple of weeks ago I had a flyer on my door for a jobs for a company. How did these solicitors get in. This place is not a secure place. They have fake cameras in the parking garage because if they were not fake why don't they catch the people who break into the cars. Monday I saw people park in the visitor parking to go see the concert at the Q2 but yet we had security how is that possible. A week ago there was a gas leak in the corner of Braker and Burnet and police said to stay out of the area . The Copeland never told anyone. The train goes by at all times. The walls and floors are thin. You can hear your neighbors. Your paying 1800 for them to tell you that you can't make noise after 10 and until 7.
