I don't know if it's just me but for a long time I couldn't find a half-decent barbers anywhere in the city. While I was in Stranmillis it was one of two, equally expensive and were average at best. I always ended up leaving with bits at different lengths, which is quite an achievement with short hair.
I have now found my 'regular' but while on the hunt for a decent hair dresser's close to my apartment I stumbled on this place.
It is, for all intensive purposes a very traditionally styled barbers. It's been around for over 40 years and brandishes the iconic red and white pole (which apparently harks back to the days when barbers would perform surgery on punters and according to one website the pole represents the pole in which the patient grasped tightly to encourage blood flow, who knew)
I called in for a quick trim shortly before getting the train home to see the folks. It was quite quiet and I had no problem getting a chair. They were quick and to the point, the usual five back and sides with a trim, done.
It was pretty well priced too. The place I'm going at the moment do a very good job but close to £12 for what is in essence a five minute job is slightly pushing it to say the least. read more
