It's very clean and beautiful and the meals look great. The memory care manager does exercises on a blackboard and I have never seen anything like this done at a memory care before. She challenges the people with all these questions and interactions. I've watched a few times and I appreciated how she changes it up so everyone can participate and answer the questions. My dad was on the lower functioning side and I wish I knew about a place like this when we were looking for a place for him. Pro tip from an MBA-And Instead of just having client requests disappear into the ether maybe they could write them down and tick them off a list. But no time or allocation of resources for personalized attention! Or it's not cost effective in the economics of caring for our precious elders. A CNA didn't speak any language I speak when she was tapping on my door, and I speak a number of them, but not Creole, alas. And the staff seems much more concerned about containing liability than actually preventing damage. Instead they distracted me and prevented me from recovering my balance, and just getting my bearings. I really like the exercise routine and the mental health games done by Todd. The food is only mediocre, and there's not the option to have water instead of Shasta sugary drink. I'd like it if there were lemon wedges instead of the wasteful plastic tbs of fatty oily premade dressings. It is a real economics lesson being here. The economics I am learning is that of to quote the Rolling Stones what a drag it is getting old. I've decided to make use of this time to help reduce the aggregate suffering in the world and its loneliness. I did meet with the chef once so kudos to him for responsiveness and receptiveness to my suggestions. But not really to Niki, the division manager, for looking for MBA solutions to keep the costs down while also making the clients feel valued. It seems like the residents know what's going on, that the services are no better than they have to be. The CNAs are sweetly diligent in trying to get residents out of bed and to their meals, but my simple suggestion of giving people the option of creating one's own vinaigrette dressing with some wedges of lemon. And putting a bottle of Tabasco sauce on each table to make meals palatable would do a world of good, though I suppose subbing Shasta for Genuine Coca-Cola, or better yet water would be the most cost-effective and healthiest thing to do. I met a lady named Barbara Scott who was quite elderly, and was an interesting conversationalist, and then never saw her again. Is she still alive? Who knows? Rumors were flying across the populace. But no one seems to know the answer. She could conceivably be dead, though I do hope not, but if this were a 1970's horror movie plot it would certainly be the case. A massive cover-up of the death of one of its denizens. Painting a happy face on one of its "family members". Welcome home indeed.

The residents have small apartments of their own unless they are in memory care where they may share an apartment. There are 3 meals a day, cleaning and laundry service for each resident. There are also varied activities during the day. Plus a beautiful patio. The staff is friendly and ready to give assistance when needed. It is a good choice when looking for a loved one that needs extra care!

With dozens to choose from, in the specific area we were looking at, definitely made this process even more difficult. Allegro Senior Living was highly recommended to us and when we visited the facility it certainly did not disappoint. We had the privilege of meeting Mary Adams at Allegro who spent a tremendous amount of time with us. We toured the facility, spoke to staff and shared our story. We asked dozens of questions and shared our concerns. Mary was warm, knowledgeable and so transparent about expectations for a loved ones transition to a senior living facility. After visiting many other communities and reviewing our choices, we immediately knew that Allegro Senior Living would be the perfect living arrangement for our mom. The facility is immaculate, nicely appointed, has lovely grounds, is intimate in size and has an abundance of amenities and activities for those that choose to participate. The residents and staff are kind and welcoming. Our mother has been in Allegro for a month and the community has certainly continued to please us. She loves her apartment and raves about the dining selections and quality of the food. The administration, with Erica Cohen at its helm, Angela, head of nursing services and Mary Adams, are all very accessible when we have had questions or concerns. The entire staff has been so helpful to assist in acclimating our mother to her new living arrangement and has made us all feel at ease. Our mother is happy! If you yell, and i have a speech impediment, so often it's what i have to do, they will say they're trying to help. But i say, well then get out of your own way. The other day, i was being wheeled across the facility and you'd have thought it was a coffee hour. There was the fierce sense of urgency of maybe someday we'll mosey our way over there.

Congress Ave. She had just started settling in, when less than a month later, the quarantine on long-term health care facilities was imposed. I originally selected Sonata because of the location to her friends and the fact that they are an LNS facility. I was looking towards the future and wanted to find a residence that would allow her to age in place, and could handle oxygen, should it become necessary. There is always an RN available as well. A very proactive community, Sonata tested all residents early on for COVID-19 and then a second time a few weeks later. It gave me great peace of mind knowing how safe she was there. The buildings interior is immaculate, modern, well-kept and free of any unpleasant odors. I have nothing but positive comments about the care my mother is receiving. Christine Cheeseman, Director, and her administrative team, are wonderful. They have been extremely helpful. All team members from maintenance, dining, housekeeping and nursing staff go above and beyond and have exceeded my expectations. They are very caring ,compassionate and friendly. They have done an outstanding job during this COVID-19 crisis. They are concerned about the resident's mental and physical well-being and have found creative ways in which to keep them engaged and entertained during this time of suspended activity. They have also made a point of maintaining an excellent line of communication between family members and Sonata via, email, text and phone calls. Mom seems very happy at Sonata South and I know she is going to enjoy her life there even more when activities and amenities return.

But environments is not all that patients and families are looking for. There were fourteen patients in this building with barely two staff. Is that the normal ratio? Especially with Dementia patients? The staff were great but there is not enough help. Most of the patients including my Mom need to be cleaned up, dressed and wheeled out of their bedrooms. Imagine fourteen grown people constantly needing care. And only two ladies. I was in Florida from Thursday to Monday, one evening apparently there was only one staff for the whole night, someone called in sick. No wonder....they work so hard. They need at least four full time staff members taking care of the patients at all times.

Not up to our family's standards of cleanliness in common spaces (rugs, floors, window ledges,…read moreetc.). Maintenance director is painfully slow to respond to requests for repairs. Residents are mostly quite unwell and seem unhappy /unfriendly. The food is mediocre at best. The building is large, so residents who are a distance from the "activities room" can feel isolated; the design is not conducive to interacting and making friends. One of the two main lobbies, on the far side of the building, has been permanently closed. This entrance is unavailable to residents whose apartments are near it; instead, they have to walk a long way through the whole building to get to their apartments.

I relocated my loved one a year ago from her home in California to the Memory Care Facility. The Health and Wellness Director, Rosita Taylor, met with us and held both of our hands through the transition. Throughout the year, Rosita has remained a constant in my loved one's care. Helen Altieri, the Executive Director, helped me switch my loved one's health insurance from Kaiser, which is only in California, to one that is in Florida. Helen's door is always open if I have any questions. The nurses who work in the memory care unit, Dorothy and Gurdy, are compassionate and loving and ensure my loved one is properly cared for each day. I've witnessed them and the nurse's aides, hold my loved one's hand and walk and talk with her. The Clare Bridge Program Manager, Yvette Montoya, has made a drastic improvement in my loved one's life. Yvette knows how to interact with dementia patients and improve thier quality of life and has even gone the extra mile to set up a support group for family members. Every staff member has gone out of their way to help me cope with the struggles of being responsible for a loved one with dementia. The receptionists, Lovely, Luz, and Alyssa, welcome me by name each time I visit and ask how I am doing. This past year has been an emotional rollercoaster for me personally and I thank everyone at Brookdale West Boynton Beach for their love and compassion. I do not believe any other Assisted Living Facility would have provided the same kind of support that my loved one and I have received here. I strongly recommend Brookdale West Boynton Beach!

He continued to get worse and they did nothing to help or "rehab" him. He was having a hard time participating in PT so they basically gave up on him. 1 Hour a day of PT if that, besides that they leave patients in the room or community room to just Veg all day - No televisions in the room, no interaction besides family who visits. Changes are few and far between leaving patients with rashes and sores. Wouldn't eat - staff had no care. Never once suggested additional medical care - you know maybe transfer back to the hospital or get a doctor in there to look at him. He was so bad we decided to take him out of there on the 30 day mark. We asked about hospice - they wouldn't refer. He was discharged on a Friday afternoon and died by Monday Night. Do not send your loved ones here if you want to have any chance of them having a successful rehab experience.
