Our child began attending Concordia in kindergarten and four years later, they are thriving! Concordia is everything we could hope for in a school and a community. The teachers are caring and invested. The Montessori curriculum gives the child ownership and responsibility for their own learning with guidance from the teachers, while allowing room for playful curiosity. The school also places a focus on social responsibility, so my child isn't just getting an academic education but a social education as well: learning personal responsibility, learning to interact with mixed age groups, to problem-solve through conflict resolution, and to contribute through acts of kindness at school and at home. The school is delightfully "dumb" in that devices and online learning are not a part of the lower grade levels. The kids are taught cursive and write out most of their works. Homework is not introduced until the third grade level. And I love that kids have the option to work in the way that suits them best, whether that's on the floor, sitting at a desk, or standing at a table. They can work with a friend, or work alone in the quiet room to aid focus. The school understands that every kid's learning process is a little different and helps set the kids up for success. We feel so fortunate to have found this school that is so caring and inclusive of families of all races, ethnicities, gender identity, family structure, and/or socioeconomic status. In addition to feeling like the right learning environment for our child, we are so grateful to have found this community and be welcomed into it. My kids have been attending this school since 2017 and I can honestly say that Concordia is a special place. We looked at many preschools before deciding to enroll at Concordia and we haven't looked back. From preschool all the way to sixth grade, this is a special place where the teachers and staff care about each and every child's academic and social development. It really feels like being part of a big family. The school just celebrated their 50th anniversary - they have been around so long that my husband went to the school when he was a kid! To say, "We love Concordia," would be the understatement of the year! :-) This is an **exceptional** school for age two - 6th grade, and truly the perfect place for our children and family. Offering a fantastic Montessori approach to education, Concordia focuses on individual student learning, peace & social justice, social-emotional growth, community-building & service, global awareness, and cultural diversity. Their curriculum includes literacy, science, math, Spanish, music, outdoor education, and more! They welcome & celebrate students of different racial & ethnic backgrounds, gender identities, family structures, and socioeconomic statuses. Our daughter started attending Concordia when she was three, and it has been her "home away from home" ever since. (Ms. Daniela in the Children's House is pure magic!) Our son was older (2nd grade) and was, at first, unsure about going to a new school. However, after his tour and first meeting with Teacher Neysa in the Junior Elementary, he was hooked! He literally ran into the house, when we got home, and started posting signs, everywhere, that read, "Concordia all the way!" "Concordia is the only school for me!" "YES to Concordia!!!" Finally, Concordia is an intentional community that not only supports the student, but extends their warm welcome to the whole family. The entire staff go out of their way to connect with parents/caregivers, with the utmost kindness and joy. Kathryn M. (Parent Relations) greets all families in the parking lot, every morning; with her constant smile and relatable stories, everyone feels right at home! Brie (Office Manager) is wonderfully friendly and clearly communicative, and Kathryn L. (Head of School) holds the vision to make it all happen, with confidence, patience, and understanding. I don't know why this business has 4 stars! this is zero rating! Rude!Rude!Rude! I called to inquire about enrolling my daughter and the person that I talked to was rude! ok i know this is a private school that's why i'm inquiring! I was asking her questions, i was asking if they kids that are on the spectrum.. ok she paused and she doesn't even know what that means! so i has to say autism, and she was like "all i know is that this is a private school and we are full! no compassion or anything not helpful at all, glad this is off my list! so frustrating how incompetent people are! My daughter started attending Concordia School in February of this year. I am very pleased with everything we have experienced so far. The level of expertise of the head teacher in the children's house is superb. She has been teaching at Concordia for over 30 years! Communication has been great. Phone calls and conversations in person with the teachers are open daily. Anytime there is some sort of incident in which your child gets hurt an "ouch report" is given to the parent with description and outcome of the situation. There is also a weekly news letter with information about the whole school. I absolutely love the ethnic and cultural diversity of the school! Culture is embraced in my different ways....... Concordia was indeed a good fit for our family and I see my child growing and thriving here! read more

Outstanding school that accepts children from age 2 through grade 5. My daughter started at 2, and is now beginning her third year (pre K). The teachers are exceptional, as is the facility. Cost varies depending on whether the child is going for a full day or a half day, and whether she's going for 3 days or 5. Five days full time costs about $900 a month. read more

My daughter could not be happier in the Concordia School...which makes me a parent happy too. The faculty here are wonderful, approachable always professional and really care about my daughters learning process. My 3-year-old daughter came to the Concordia School very shy and timid. I was worried about how she would transition from being at home to attending school for the first time. The teachers in the Children's House were wonderful with the transition. They are now helping her to break out of her shell and are guiding her to, "find her voice." She is learning to ask for help when needed and to speak up when needed. I can see her confidence growing; she now engages in play with other children and initiates conversation with adults. The Concordia School is helping her learn important life skills, creating a strong educational foundation, and generating an interest of learning for our daughter. She comes home from school and amazes us with, new songs, her increased vocabulary, speaking Spanish, and a love for wanting to write and drawing. The teachers encourage parents to be part of the education process and provide ideas on how to incorporate what they learn into our home routine, in a fun way. Our daughter loves to prepare snack at home, help with folding laundry and helps to clean at home. I love watching her curiosity and love for learning grow and I know Montessori Concordia plays a big hand in this. The teachers are commutative and are always available to discuss my daughter's progression. We love the nurturing environment and the culture of this school. My daughter is thriving and growing into an independent, intelligent and confident individual with the help of Concordia Montessori, this really is a wonderful school. read more

I can't say enough good things about this school. We changed from public school to Concordia last year and my kids are actually enjoying school again. I love all of the extras: music, art/drawing, woodworking, etc. The 4-6 grade kids cook lunch for their class 3 times a month. Once my daughter went for the in-school visit, she did not want to leave. She was hooked as soon as she saw the kids cooking lunch and working on a wood project. Last year the class went on an overnight trip to Sacramento to see the Capital and on a 3 night camping trip. My only regret is that I didn't change them to Concordia sooner! read more

My son has been in Concordia for almost three years now. Recently, our family thought we had to move to another city. So we researched a number of schools. As it turned out, we didn't have to move after all, but it was an education. After extensive research - talking to teachers as well as parents - we have come to realize just how good Concordia Montessori of Concord actually is. In spite of the fact that he tends to be an anxious child, my son has only gained in confidence, knowledge, and mastery during his time here. This goes for both his academic and nonacademic subjects. He has gone from hating school, to loving it. About 8 months ago, I had a meeting with my son's teachers about his social awkwardness and how to deal with it. They had some good suggestions, and now he is completely at home at school and interacts much more naturally with the other kids. Best of all: he is happy, learning, and achieving his milestones. I am very pleased with what we have experienced so far at The Concordia School. It is my son's first year here(2nd grade transfer), and he is so content. He goes to school eager and comes home with so many questions about the world around us. He is noticing things and showing so much interest in learning. He is setting his own pace and so far, thriving. I am amazed at the difference in his behaviors. So helpful and caring when he comes home, a true benefit to our family. I am happy to see his true self. He tells me that this is the best place ever and that it feels like home. He says the teachers respect and care about him, and don't boss him around. I feel that this has enabled him to open up and love to learn... I see it clearly, and believe this is the best choice we could have made for him and our family. My child has attended Concordia for 2 years. The teachers are caring and experienced and know exactly what is going on with each child. It is a pure Montessori experience, and I highly recommend it to those seeking a quality Montessori education for their child. It is not a school that will "teach to tests" and force your child to memorize...so if you want your kid to memorize multiplication tables and learn to read by age 5 no matter what then this probably isn't the school for you. The only drawback is the school is small so there isn't the same social atmosphere for older kids that you get at bigger schools...need to supplement with extracurricular social activities instead. read more

My daughter and son love this very special school and always want to go and stay as long as they can. My children are excelling academically, socially and artistically. The community is inclusive and diverse and the communication exceptional. The curriculum responds to the child's pace and interest. After researching many Montessori schools in the area, we chose Concordia for our son. He started at age 3, and is now in kindergarten. I couldn't be happier with Concordia. The teachers are amazing, and it is a wonderful community. They focus on the whole child, rather than rote memorization. Everything is done with intention, and the children embrace learning. My son has been very happy here, and my daughter (age 2) started this Fall. She has had a seamless transition to school and loves her teachers. She is becoming more self-sufficient each day. It's amazing to see them learn and grow, supported and encouraged by the excellent, professional staff at Concordia. We came to Concordia after attending a different Montessori school, and we have been there now for twelve years. I have had three children graduate from Concordia, and my fourth will graduate in 2014.
