Convenient location, but really expensive. I had one of my sandals fall apart, with the part that goes between the toes completely detaching from the sole, making them unwearable (since nothing was holding my foot to the sole). I brought them here to get them reattached, and they said they'd had to remove the sole to reattach it. Okay, whatever. $20-ish. Um. That's a little.... Fine I guess..... I mentioned that the elastic on the part that goes around the ankle was also completely destroyed, and asked for that to be replaced on both shoes as well. Keep in mind that each of these pieces of elastic, fully stretched out (natural wear and tear) were barely a centimeter long. That added another $14 to my bill. I mean, I can kinda understand the price for the first repair (though it was only for one shoe....), but this is a bit ridiculous. Either way, they repaired the elastic well, and the toe thingy decently. Really expensive though. When I came to pick up my shoes (a few hours late, I might add), they said they needed another half hour or so. It was kinda clear that they hadn't really started on the repairs, but I hadn't had breakfast so I went to eat at Starbucks next door. Wasn't really inconvenient, but something to add. For comparison, I got my pair of heavyweight genuine leather boots resoled (interior and exterior soles), with the inner heel patched up and the whole thing polished, for about $55 back in San Jose. read more

The reviews were generally very bad here, but after my first experience with "The Cobbler" I'm totally satisfied. I needed to buff up some leather Timberlands that were not really expensive shoes, but I knew if they were done right they'd be like brand new again. My concern was that they're dark leather with a light threading all over the shoe and I didn't want to lose that character. He gave me the option to do just a clear coat for only $6, or if I wanted to re-coat the leather to restore the color AND avoid the thread it would be $15 (if I didn't care about the thread it would have been $9). He finished it within the business day, so I took them home same day. What's to complain about? Quick service, expert advice, quality work, affordable price. I took a a couple of pairs of very expensive shoes (Ferragamo) they did a complete repair on the shoes. I ended up spending close to 500.00 dollars worth of repairs. I was very very pleased with the repairs/service and everyone was very nice to me. When I went to Drop off my shoes the receptionist/assistant was very friendly and nice to me. She took the time to explain to me every detail of the repair. When I picked up the pair of shoes the young guy was very nice and also took the time to help find a cleaner for one of my purses. I have to say that all the people that have reviewed negative comments on this store are just plain wrong. What do you expect? Have miracles worked on your shoes! You are taking a shoe for repairs not to picked up brand new shoe! I have witnessed people being rude to the workers and customers just don't have patience anymore. I been a customer for the longest and is still the same ownership. It seems that it's a like two retail stores in one. I drop off a pair of very expensive black boots that needed to be taking in from the sides and also had the heels shorten. The service and the support at this shoe repair are just great. After boasting about getting my heels repaired here, I sent my boyfriend over to get his shoes fixed. There were two men there, and they insisted that he couldn't just get the loose heel reattached, he had to get a whole new heel, etc. They charged him more than $40, but I thought it would be worth it, because it would be like he had a new pair of shoes. The first day he wore them after the repair, the heel came loose. So, embarrassed since it was my fault, I took them back and asked for them to be fixed again. After a week, the heel fell off the shoe again. Now my BF refuses to go back and says I need to be more careful about my recommendations. Sorry, but that's just not good workmanship. read more

I guess I should have read the reviews before I went to this place. I haven't even picked up my shoes yet and I'm already giving it a bad review shows you how much this place sucks. I took my shoes there about a week ago to get resoled so I can ride my motorcycle. When I first went here the gentleman was nice and said that he didn't know how much it would be to resole my shoes cuz I didn't have my shoes with me but told me it would be starting around 60 bucks. Come to today when my shoes were supposed to be ready to pick up and the guy calls me and tells me that he won't have my shoes ready till Tuesday and on top of that he said he had to charge me 20 more dollars because he said the material he bought was more expensive than he thought. It's bad enough I will be paying 140 bucks for the shoes but now I will be paying 160 because of the extra charge. I called him back to see if I could just pick up the shoes and take them somewhere else but he said he already started working on them. Avoid this place like the plague! The Computerized Cobbler ruined my black and white polka dot shoes. There were some light yellow water stains on the tips. When I went to pick them up after they'd been washed there was a black shoe polish smudge on the white fabric. They offered to wash them again. When I went back a second time, they couldn't find my shoes. On the third trip to pick them up Humberto presented me with my shoes and they were filthy. They looked as if they'd been dipped in dirty water. He claimed they were like that when I brought them in. I wouldn't have had them repaired at all had they been so dirty. They are now unwearable. I needed to get a pair of black pumps repaired. My first attempt was in the late afternoon after work. When I walked in there was a woman sitting behind the counter. She looked at me, and looked back down at her laptop without saying a word. A short wait later, a young man came out from the back. I showed him the heels were down to the nail, and also showed him some scuff marks. After he answered his cell phone that had started ringing while he was "helping" me, he said the heel could be repaired, but there was nothing they could do about the scuff marks. (I had actually taken the EXACT same pair of shoes to the EXACT same location about two years ago, with the EXACT same repairs needed, and had NO trouble, so I found his response odd...) I asked if he was sure there was nothing they could do, and he told me that they could just put some glue on there. I have no idea how my shoes were fixed the last time, it could have been with glue, but whatever they did had worked so I said "OK" and asked if they just use black glue, or what. He then told me that my shoes were not black they were navy blue. I seriously had about a 2 minute disagreement with him regarding the color of my shoes (which are in fact BLACK). At this point I was not confident in his order taking skills, so I took my shoes back and said I would return the next day. I returned the next day on my lunch break. The same woman who was sitting there ignoring me the day before was now working behind the counter. She told me all they could do was paint over the scuffs. I agreed to this. I was told that my shoes would be ready by 5 on Friday (this was Wednesday evening). I asked if there was any way they could be ready the next day, and she said she "would ask the guy"... I paid, and left. I returned at lunchtime on Friday. When I presented my ticket and asked if they were ready, she said "I told you they wouldn't be ready until 5 o clock." I explained that she had said she would "ask the guy" and I asked if she could just check. (I was leaving town the next day and had a lot of errands to take care of, I didn't want to have to come back). She said something to the effect of "I'm just telling you" and went to look. Well my shoes were ready afterall. I walked outside, and looked at my shoes. The heels were repaired but the scuff marks that I paid to have "painted" were still there, and I'm not so sure that there weren't additional scuffs on the shoes that happened during the "repair". I immediately went back inside. The woman was helping another customer (who looked like he was returning his shoes as well, because he was holding the same plain white plastic grocery bag they had given me my shoes in ...but I don't really know why he was there). As I waited, I figured it wasn't worth it to deal with these people anymore. I left and bought some polish from Target, and temporarily fixed them myself. I had a wonderful experience at this location a few years ago. I went in to have the heels repaired, they were fixed while I waited, and he even surprised me by fixing the scuff marks without my even asking. I have no idea what happened to this location, maybe it changed ownership, but I feel they are extremely unprofessional, and they produced very low quality craftsmanship, especially for the prices they charge. Went in to get insoles for my pair of Clarks desert boots and AE oxfords. The guy explained to me thoroughly the difference between sockliners and insoles, which really clear up my misconception and saves me a buncha money. He was really honest when I asked if I should 3 pairs of insoles (1 pair for the clarks and 2 for the AE cuz they are a bit loose); he suggested I just get 2 pairs and change them back and forth between the 2 pairs of shoes to save me money. So bonus points for that. Havent checked out any other services so I can't say much, but I might come back for future transactions 'cuz of the guy's friendliness :) read more

Came here once to have a handbag fixed and a pair of boots polished. The handle on my handbag just needed to be re-threaded through the hole and have the lining re-sewn. It took almost two weeks to have the handbag finished, and cost me almost $50! That is an insane price for the work that needed to be done. Also, the handle came back out the same day I picked it up and I then had to take it elsewhere to be fixed since I clearly did not trust bringing it back to the Computerized Cobbler to be fixed. My boots were sub-par. The polish job was just okay, nothing spectacular. The prices here are outrageous - although I guess that should be expected in La Jolla. That was my first and last time at the Computerized Cobbler, and I definitely won't be back. read more

They did a great job!!! I had a pair of $300 white leather tory burch wedges that were so gross, i was embarrassed to ask if they could be fixed. The leather was worn and dirty, the soles and inside linings were falling off... now they are completely restored and bright white again for $40. This guy is a magician. I brought in 4 pairs of shoes, 1 was just a typical men's work shoe repair needing new bottoms, but the other 3 needed some expertise. I had two pairs of very unique colored suede shoes (one a blueish green the other a petal pink) that had both been lightened/yellowed in the sun (side note: I had messaged them on yelp asking for a quote but got a call back that because of my question (about matching suede colors) they really needed to see the shoes in person in order to give me an idea of the repair cost.) He matched the colors perfectly and they look as good as new! The other pair were ballet flats that I hadn't worn in years because I had worn a hole through the bottom as well as in the back and had been told by a different shoe repair it would take at least $150 to fix them. He quoted me much lower than that to bring them up to working order. I'm not taking my shoes anywhere else now! read more

I decided to try this place after getting a coupon in the mail for two free shoe shines. I called ahead of time becuase I wanted to use the coupon on two pairs of tall boots and was subsequently told yes no problem. Fast forward and i got there and was told I could use the coupon on only one pair and it had to be the bottom only. Thus i paid $10 to get the other pair polished. I was also told they'd be ready by Tuesday and I assume that means by the time of opening on Tuesday, not when they get around to it. I waited in line for about ten minutes until someone acknowledged me, then was quite rudely informed they weren't ready....without so much of an apology from the bug-eyed gal behind the counter. I went back today, still had to wait for them to find my shoes, then saw that they still hadn't polished one of the boots! All in all, it was a highly annoying experience. Save yourself the time, energy, and hassle, and save your $$$$ for new shoes!! read more
