Jungle gym, climbing, playground

My girls loooooooooove this place! It's so nice to be able to sit back and watch them have so much fun. We take the kids and watch them play, get some frozen yogurt at the orange leaf inside, and just talk to the other parents. We LOVE spending an afternoon at the commons!

It's free, it's interactive, and it's clean. It's about as good as it gets. There is a small toddler area and a larger area for bigger kids. I brought two nine-year-olds who had a fabulous time, but tired of it after about 45 minutes. I'm not sure you could spend much more than an hour here, either because the kids would start to get bored or tired, but it is a great place to take a break and wear out the kiddos.

We love an excuse to go back to our home town of Columbus. We enjoyed visiting THE COMMONS and the famous moving sculpture CHAOS. DEJA VU Art and Fine Craft Show had many artisans displaying and selling the art of recycled and reused material. It was and amazing experience to view the ideas and creativity coming from folks from Indiana, Illinois, Ohio and Kentucky. We found many interesting items and settled on a beautiful vase that utilized actual leaves impressed into wet clay to form a beautiful and unique pattern

Playgrounds are our jam and this one is in our top 10 favorites since the remodel. There is a space for kids of ALL ages. The hours are great. It is open earlier than any other indoor playground we know of. You can also grab a bite to eat right next door The family restrooms make it great for families with more than one kid. Get there early for no crowds & if you want a table snag it early. . -Strollability & Mamas in the Midwest

Indoor playground

Heck yeah. We drove about 50 miles to visit this free indoor playground, and honestly it was completely worth it. The climbing structure inside here is huge (but safe) and surprisingly clean. The structure is next to a big wall of windows that overlooks the street outside. The climbing structure is great for kids about 4 years and older, but there's also fun for younger kids. There's a whole section for little kids, with a slide, hills, tunnel and pretend tree to hide in. There is a lot of seating available for parents, with tables and chairs. It's also attached to a frozen yogurt shop and a Subway. Get here early! It opens at 7 a.m. most days, but we got here at 9 a.m. and the crowd was decent. Not too many people. Then we went to the children's museum across the street. (Yes, there's a children's museum within walking distance! It's a great little area for kids.) When we came back at 3 p.m. it was so packed that we just turned around and left. But it's free and awesome, so I would expect that it would be a popular place to play.

We loved our first trip here! It was quite crowded as we were there on a Saturday. Orange Leaf froyo is conveniently located within the playground area. Other places for food you need to exit the enclosed playground area. Bathroom was messy, but not dirty. My 4 year old noted that not all the rules were being followed at 100%. Many kids had shoes off and some were also without socks. It was definitely worth the hour trip from Indy!

This is probably my favorite part of Columbus and the coolest I've found (so far). The structure is just so cool! Unfortunately my son is afraid of heights but he still had a blast seeing how high he could climb. The "food court" is small but has a few options. The restrooms should probably be better advertised as I saw someone changing a baby behind one of the play walls and that was extremely unnecessary with all the kids running around and playing. So please just get up and take your littles to the restroom to change them :) That is my only complaint. I highly suggest stopping in and spending some time here.

Wow....what a great free indoor play area! Kids had fun and allowed me to feel at ease with limited access areas in downtown.

Youngs Creek Park - Playground

Youngs Creek Park

We spent hours at Young's Creek Park in downtown Franklin with our granddaughters this weekend!…read moreThey had a blast on the colorful and creative climbing structures, slides and swings. My granddaughters really like the "merry-go-round". The equipment is arranged by age group for toddlers up to 12 years old (although I climbed on a few things myself). Everything is clean with a ton of soft surface padding so the kids don't get hurt. There are drinking fountains, nearby restroom facilities and lots of picnic tables. Benches and small pavilions are scattered throughout the play area. The parking lots are huge with plenty of accessible spaces. The splash pad was closed for the season, but looked like fun. There is a paved walking trail that crosses the creek. Pet cleanup stations are available. A pickle ball court with 8 courts is really nice with covered seating area for spectators. A nice stage for concerts is across a large green space. This is a great little community park!

It was a hot day, so the splash pad was going and kids were having a great time. The splash pad has water features that come up from the ground, buckets of water that fall down over your head, and lots of benches (with shade!) for people to sit at. The playground is huge! It has multiple structures for kids of all ages, with a separate area for babies and toddlers. This is a great playground for kids who like to climb and parkour, because there is so so so much to play on. My kid was trying to get from one part of the playground to the other without touching the ground, and he was doing monkey bars, climbing on walls, going through rope obstacle courses and lots more. There are multiple slides, swings (with two-person swings where a grown up can swing with their kid) and musical instruments. The whole playground has a rubberized ground for soft landings. One of the best things about the playground at Youngs Creek Park is that there are lots of places with shade! This was especially appreciated because when we visited, it was a super sunny and hot day. There are lots of clean restrooms located near the amphitheater on the other side of the park. A little ways further are the pickle ball courts.

This is a very nice park. It has an adequate parking lot, but it could be a bit bigger though. The…read morepark is 55 acres and the wetlands is 300 acres. The park was created to filter municipal runoff water. Talk about a good use for a wonderful place. The park has two playgrounds. The one near the front of the park has more modern equipment that includes a merry go round, a saucer swing, a percussion play set, traditional swings, expression swings, a roller slide, a spinning chair, a Sway fun glider and a huge jungle gym with monkey bars and slides. The ground is lined with the rubber matting found at most newer playgrounds and it is accessible. There are some glider swings around the perimeter of the playground area, along with two picnic pavilions with picnic tables under them. The other playground area has an older jungle gym with slides. That area is prone to flooding and the walkway leading to it was flooded during my visit. You will find picnic tables under nearby trees to sit, relax, and or eat. The park does not have a shortage of green space to do field activities like play catch, fly a kite, have a picnic, lay out, or run around. You will also find a decent full basketball court back by the older playground area. There is a large pavilion in the center of the park with picnic tables under it and overlooks a decent sized lake. The pavilion and the shelters can be reserved and rented. The park is home to a 25-hole disk golf course. It is a nice course, but can get a little soggy/muddy in some areas, so, I recommend you don't wear your favorite shoes. The park is also part of the Historic Greenway Trails system which is 17 miles. It is an awesome trail that is well maintained. My only gripe is that it is prone to flooding and water can really pool up in some areas. Once again, I would not were my favorite shoes here. I did not spend much time in the wetlands area, but it is home to numerous birds and wildlife, including sandhill cranes, herons, egrets, otters and alligators. This is a very nice park. It blends the best of a nature park with the best of a modern park. I was not a fan of the flooding though. My shoes were a muddy mess. But my little enjoyed herself, so it was worth the visit.

The park spans 127 acres and was previously owned by Cosco Products company, which hoped to create an employee recreational area, but it was never fully developed. The county received the property from the Cosco in 2007. The park's name, ECO, is an acronym derived from Employees of Cosco (ECO). The work "Lake" was added to the name to highlight the lake. The park runs along ECO Lake and has an ample amount of parking available. You will find a nice public boat launch that feeds right into the lake. There are also picnic tables and benches positioned in locations around the lake's perimeter. They provide very scenic views. The park has a sand volleyball court and a basketball court right next to each other. They are in fair to good shape. This park features a lot of green space, a moderate amount of shade, a picnic shelter with picnic tables under it, and a playground area. The playground area is not the most modern, but it is decent. It has a medium sized metal play structure with a bunch of slides, a net climber, and monkey bars. The playground also has a bank of traditional swings, monkey bars, and pull up bars. This is a very nice, low key park with lots of open pace. There is a gravel road that leads to the back of the park. That road will take you to camp sites and only registered campers are authorized to go past the gate. I like this park, but think it is just in a bad location. It could use a little bit of an upgrade such as a new shelter because the current one is in bad repair and maybe a restroom facility. They current have a port a potty there, that is located by the shelter and playground area. Definitely a nice place to visit and get access to the lake. Worth a visit if you are in the area.
