I haven't stayed at the Commodore before, but it seems like it is under new ownership and direction. The place was given a refresh and improvements have been made. It has a great location steps to the beach (about 250 according to the innkeeper), a pool, a newly obtained liquor license so you can purchase drinks, and a friendly staff. It all made for a pleasant place to stay. The included continental breakfast was very nice - it is limited to 8am to 9:30am. A nice selection of yogurts, cereals, bread items, fruit, hard boiled eggs, juice. Also has one of those press a button, get a pancake machine. A couple of toasters, but they toast slowly. Fresh coffee is available at 7am, and Keurig machine is located in the lobby. The grounds are well maintained with beautiful flowers and greenery out front. The rooms all have chairs so you can sit outside with a pool in the center of property. A good idea for the Commodore would be to install a clothes drying rack in front of the rooms since everyone uses the chairs to hang wet bathing suits, towels, etc.. could make things more convenient and look neater. The rooms were nicely updated. The bathroom in our room (125) was very small, but luckily the sink is outside. The toilet/bathtub area's door barely clears the toilet so it feels a bit small - especially if its more than 2 in a room. The in the wall AC worked well, and the white noise it generates help to block outside noise. There was an issue about drinking your own alcohol you brought in since they now have a liquor license. There was sign in the room that your own alcohol could not be consumed anywhere on the grounds. I never heard of this before, but Massachusetts has strange liquor laws so something you may want to keep in mind. I like they have free to borrow beach chairs and beach carts for bringing stuff to the beach - so no need to pay the $20 parking fee to bring a car to the super close beach. Shuffleboard and cornhole games are on the grounds. Harwich is a nice, family friendly town with some nice places to eat nearby, or a short drive to other parts of the Cape. A good place to stay especially if beach accessibility is your thing! read more

I loved my stay at the Commodore Inn. It's located about 200 steps from the beach on a quiet street. You can park at the Inn and walk to the beach to prevent having to pay the $20 parking fee at the beach. You can really see that the owners take pride in ensuring that your stay is perfect. Upon check in, you are greeted by the owner (her name is escaping me), but she is so sweet and explains everything thoroughly - even offered to give us some restaurant recommendations! The room itself seemed to be meticulously cleaned and freshly decorated. It was simple, no frills, but perfect for a short stay. The bed was comfy and pillows were perfect. You can use the rocking chairs on the patio outside to sit and relax. The beach that is nearby is Earle Rd Beach. It's not the type of beach I'm personally used to as it's located on the Bay instead of the Ocean. There are very few waves so it's ideal for kids to swim in. The beach is clean and there is a bathroom located in the parking lot which is always a plus. read more

Our family built this Inn, so we of course stay when we visit. Always good vibes being back here. Love the walk/being right on the beach, love the ability to have WiFi access, love that there is corn hole, volleyball, and a swing set to keep kiddos occupied. We have vaulted ceilings which is extra cozy. Important: there's a large mini fridge in the room - big plus! Staff is accommodating and friendly too. Also decent distance between Provincetown and Boston and the ability to visit downtown Harwich, Chatham, etc is exceptional! Must stay! read more

I was really impressed with this place. Yes they have some rules but the place is in an outstanding location and was very well maintained. We had a baseball team 13 year old boys. staying the weekend and they had plenty of fun at the beach or the pool, playing cornhole throwing a football. etc. We used the on site grill and were provided utensils, spatula, tongs platters to help us with things we did not bring. We stayed here for a wedding 2 days after an October Nor'easter and had a great experience! The rooms are recently updated, spotlessly clean, comfortable beds, with plenty of hot water. We had a minor issue with our tub one evening that was handled quickly and thoroughly by John, despite it being somewhat after business hours. Barbara Ann was super helpful and went the extra mile in arranging last minute accommodations at the Inn for our daughter and son-in-law as well. We used the firepit and beach bar and walked to the beach several times. Just a wonderful experience! read more

This was our first trip to the Inn in many years and it did not disappoint. The place is immaculate!! They let us check in early with no problem and I have no complaints at all. Amazing Stay. My wife, boys and I, have been staying here for a couple of years, mostly because it is a short walk to a beautiful beach and the Inn has a nice heated pool, but this is our first stay under the new ownership and we were pleasantly surprised. Day 1 The attention to detail during this stay was really on point. Smooth check in, under two minutes and we were off to our room. The room appeared to be freshly painted and meticulously cleaned. We walked to the beach which was steps away. The beach is raked by the town every morning and is in pristine conditions. After a couple of hours we headed back to the room. We grabbed some towels and headed out to the pool; the towels were very soft and smelled freshly washed - getting the little things right. There was no one else at the pool and me and my two young boys had race after race in the pool. Day 2 Started the day with a short run through the neighborhoods and then walked down the beach. Met up with my family for the free continental breakfast after. I noticed that there was all new photography of beautiful Cape scenes hanging up in the dining room: nice touch. The boys enjoyed making their own pancakes in the pancake maker. I spoke to the Inn keeper and she told me about the process they used for selecting the new coffee, they had members of the local community do a blind taste test and they unanimously selected a Colombian blend of coffee that is out of this world, that is attention to detail. Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate on day two and we left the beach early. It was a little warmer when we got back to the Inn, so we went for a dip and then played shuffleboard in the yard for about an hour, what a great time. We had a great stay, can't say enough about what a great hidden gem this is. You would be hard pressed to find this much value for your dollar anywhere else, believe me, we tried. read more

The Inn is beautifully decorated from the main house to the cottage. The inn keepers were fantastic from check-in to check-out. The amount of extra detail that went into each cottage to ensure it was "COVID" free was amazing. Kudos to all the staff. Without doubt one of the favorite hotels I stayed in Cape Cod. Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed by the staff and general manager. The staff was extremely friendly. They are very clean and organized! We had an great weekend! The atmosphere is so special that it really felt like home to me. This place was nice but it had too many restrictions and we could not enjoy ourselves with teen boys. First, there was no breakfast, 9pm the pool was closed, and 10 pm quiet hour. I was not happy since teens do not go to sleep at 10pm and there was nothing to do . It was disappointing. read more

Just back from a 3 night stay at the Commodore. It's immaculate and the hydrangeas are gorgeous! Checked in easily, assigned a parking spot. Everything clean and tidy. My husband and I stayed here for our 10 year anniversary. The hosts, Barbara Anne and John, were very welcoming and even left us a little gift for our anniversary upon our arrival. The Inn was VERY clean and the property was well maintained. I was hesitant to go anywhere during Covid, but had no issues due to the level of cleanliness and attention to detail. Love this inn! John and Barb (the innkeepers) are the best. They truly treat you like family and keep the place running smoothly. We've been coming here for over 4 years. Every year we have noticed improvements. It's a great place to stay for families. My daughter 6 and loves playing in the pool. Great amenities like shuffleboard and a fire pit really makes this place stand out from other hotels. It has more of a community atmosphere when compared to other hotels. And the best perk is the proximity to the beach. Unbeatable! Best of both worlds for us... the beach and a pool. I look forward to our next visit! read more

Me and my mom stayed here for two nights for a girls weekend. The staff is very accommodating and friendly. This is definitely a no-frills type bed & breakfast/motel - the rooms are a bit dated, but for the price and the fact that it's steps away from the beach made it worth it. There are microwaves and mini fridges in the rooms. Breakfast consists of cereal, fruit, yogurt, breads, and pancakes. They also sell their "famous" Scottish scones. There is a bar inside the dining area where you can purchase alcohol as well. They do provide chairs and carts to take to the beach on a first come, first serve basis. Other amenities include a pool, outdoor shower, ice machine, and games like shuffleboard and corn hole. Overall, I think this is a great spot for families. The staff could not have been friendlier, and the distance to the beach is really the best benefit of this place. FYI it's $20 to park at the beach if there are family or friends meeting you there. read more

This was a lovely and relaxing resort right near a clean quiet beach. The Inn is spotless, very well organized with friendly inn keepers and hard working staff. Breakfast is provided and it is ample and fresh, plus they have a nice pancake maker! The room was super clean, comfy bed, nice little patio. Plus there was a small fridge. WiFi good. The hotel lends out beach chairs. One night they hosted a very pleasant happy hour with local musicians. The innkeepers have Tons of great recommendations for dining and sightseeing- all were terrific- esp the day trip by ferry to Nantucket. This was a good value Inn as well. We came to The Cape a month ago and stayed in Yarmouth, but we had family staying at the Commodore Inn so we got a sneak peak and when we returned to The Cape this past weekend, we stayed there and we plan on staying there every time going forward! Barb is wonderful, took extra precautions due to covid (e.g. individually wrapping each pillow and towel), and the layout of the property is just wonderful. Pool and play area in the middle, plus chairs and tables to just chill, so you end up chatting with your "neighbors", or you can just sit on your porch (rocking chairs super comfy) and read a book, then you can order drinks and snacks and they bring them right over! It's Melrose Place, without (as far as I know) the scandals. Oh, and it's like a short (two-mile) drive from TONS of great restaurants and ice cream spots, plus it's a 100-yard walk from a clean, basically private beach at the end of Earle Road that has the most spectacular sunsets we've ever seen on the east coast! Rooms were not huge, but clean and big enough, and it was convenient to have a door in the back of the room, also, which led to where our car was parked. They also had horseshoes, a swing set, and a volleyball net back there, but we didn't have time to use them all. The only criticism I'd give is that the food selection was limited, with not even a sandwich available so we had to order out for that. But plenty of yummy drinks and snacks. The pool wasn't huge, but big enough and the water was a good temperature, even for September. Shuffleboard and cornhole were also fun. And the pool went to 8 feel in the deep end, which is better than most hotel pools. Microwave and 'fridge in the room were nice for those seafood leftovers to be enjoyed the next day. Where to start. I miss Flora and Dick. They knew how to run a hotel and they knew how to treat their guests. The new Owners have brought some excellent updates to the facilities but the Inn Keeper that has been hired. Horrible. I mean really bad. I don't usually leave reviews unless I feel compelled to do so and after speaking with him and seeing him interact with guests STAY FAR AWAY from the Commodore. It's sad to say that considering I was a guest for 20+ years but the new inn keeper cannot seem to grasp the concept of hospitality. Telling at guest, telling them to "get off my property." In this industry you never treat guests like that. What a shame this Inn Keeper has brought to the Commodore. He needs to go, then this place would be back to the way it was- About the guests. read more

If you're looking for a friendly, convenient spot in Harwich, this is it. Not a ton of frills, but a great room at a reasonable (for Cape standards) rate. Continental breakfast is toast, cereal, mini muffins, juice/coffee; there are a lot of rooms so this place would be great for a large group/wedding block...and it's about 50 yards to the beach! My only major complaint was the bed/pillow situation--I've slept on better. But the staff are very friendly and have terrific recommendations for anything a visitor would want. read more

While planning my October Cape Cod wedding, my parents, my in-laws, and I visitied the Commodore Inn to see if the majority of my wedding could stay at the Inn. We met with the owner Fiona who showed us around and promised us pricing, breakfast, and an amazing wedding experience. However, when my guests booked their rooms the first ones were allowed to book just one night but as Fiona realized that should could make more $$ she began to require a two-night minimum--against her earlier policy and her verbal promise to me. She also raised the cost of the rooms and revoked her promise for breakfast. I spoke with her in April after writing her a long email of complaints and she promised to address some of the issues and get back to me....she didn't get back to me until September! She is not a business woman but a hustler! I STRONGLY DISCOURAGE YOU FROM BOOKING ROOMS AT THE COMMODORE INN. During my entire wedding planning no one stressed me out more or took more advantage of me than Fiona and the Commodore Inn. Oh, she sounds sweet and says God Bless you after ever sentence, but the woman is snake in the grass. She is not to be trusted. read more
