They reduced the size of the seats and the space between the rows of seating. I'm 5'6" and it is uncomfortable to sit through a 1 hour 30 min standup. If you're not sitting at the end you are likely going to bruise your shins walking through. Good luck trying to let someone pass without leaving the row. People have fallen flat on their faces trying to get out. It seems like a safety issue. As it's an older theatre, the floor is pretty flat. Not tiered like newer movie theatres. Recently went to a show where they posted no photos of the show were allowed. The security guards paced through the middle aisle throughout the show. It was pretty distracting. During concerts they remove about half the rows for standing room. Oftentimes though the balcony is closed off. Washrooms are on the second floor. Only 3 stalls in the women's washroom as one is forever out of order.

The Fox is located in Mount Pleasant on Main St. near 7th ave, in an old movie theater. The projection room has been transformed into the dance floor! It's a long and narrow building with two levels. Upstairs you will find a balcony with a great view of all the party goers below, a second bar and some cosy spots to get your chill on. Next door is another smaller room called the Cabaret room, and of course the main room downstairs, The Projection room. The Projection room has tables and bench seating which is great, because I often want to sit, drink and people watch, as well as a large bar, and small dance floor. Overall it is a more intimate venue and rather unique! I love that they maintained some of the Cinema decor and made it work as a bar/club. They have weekly events with live bands and performers, such as Wednesday night stand up comedy and Sunday night improve. Of course Thursday, Friday and Saturday's are your nights to shake your booty with different DJs or live bands. We visited for a friends birthday, and although I may have already had my fair share of drinks, I was quite pleased with a few factors with this venue. The first, we did not have to wait in line! It was a Saturday night at about 12:30. Super huge plus because I have little patience for line ups. Next, the cover was $12, which is probably pretty standard these days, but my opinion is there should be a live band or DJ to warrant that fee. The DJ was fantastic!!! Worth every penny. I had one drink and had to hit the floor! I don't know who he/she was but it was epic!! ‍ They have drink specials which are prepared by easygoing bartenders, but.....I am taking a star away for the fact that they only accept cash. There is a bank machine which charges you $3, plus your bank will charge on top of that. It's 2018, time to up your game with portable debit machines!! Honestly, they would only make more money and inconvenience patrons less. Also, the ladies bathroom was a bit on the small side.

I was grown up watching lots of 80's and 90's movies and this was the great opportunity to join sound immersive experience with the orchestra. And it's only $19 The catch is this concert artists are still students from Vancouver Academy of Music. But they are great. They had lots of audiences and I was happy to help those kids(some are adults) as well. Everyone are happy. Before I booked online, I checked the seat map by the third party website. They have slight "width" difference. I choose wider seat on aisle and it was very comfortable. There was no price difference. I hope it helps you next time.

It can become crowded and stuffy. It's the basement of the pub meaning there are stairs going into and exiting the venue. At the latest performance I did see a number of people with walkers so I guess they were able to get in just fine. There are some seating around the dancefloor. For shows like stand up comedy the dancefloor is lined with seats. It's not too difficult to find parking nearby.

The performers were the best part. Super funny and quick on their feet, making stuff up on the spot that had us laughing the whole time. Good pick for families too. The content stayed pretty clean, nothing really inappropriate for a 12 year old, not that a typical 12 year old hasn't heard worse. They've got one intermission, free water, and a bar with snacks, popcorn, and drinks. The seats have cup holders so you can enjoy your tasty beverage while watching the show. Three people from the audience get picked to judge each scene from 1 to 5. They get chosen randomly before the show. Need to be at the tables at the front or in the first or second row to get picked, I think. Would totally recommend for a family outing especially if you have kids interested in comedy, high school drama class, SNL or similar. And Granville Island area is so nice to walk around it makes for a nice evening. Just keep in mind that the market closes at 7pm so arrive to island by at least 6:30pm to buy and eat your dinner, and then walk the 4 minutes to the Improv Centre. Or else skip dinner and eat Snickers bars and popcorn at the Improv Centre. Bought my tickets only the morning of the show. Easy to do.

I honestly preferred the regular theatre sports version as the extra added unnecessary confusion and I rather enjoyed watching the actors be creative vs. bending over backwards to adhere to a random rule. All in all, I had a great time and would definitely make an effort to come back whenever I'm in the area.

My first time to Firehall Arts Centre I was impressed by how authentically cool it looks from the outside, inside, and backside... and hold on, is that a bar I see? Yes!!! Like any good theatre, liquor is included on the bill! The theatre itself is sizeable, yet still small enough to have that cozy feel to it. There was a rock-ish band playing at the time, but I think to give a true review on the auditorium, I'll have to attend a show! The real win though has to be the couryard! A closed in garden sanctuary, you would never know it exists from the outside! With a couple of levels of terraced patios and a yard below, this was the perfect space for listening to acoustic sounds, some quiet chatter and breathing in a crisp autumn evening... It has the makings of a mid-summer night's moonlit escapades written all over it!
