Griffins Gift Shop

We encountered a little bit of rain so we decided to do some souvenir shopping. Griffins Gift Shop…read moreis small and jammed packed with every item that a tourist may want to purchase. We purchased a nice scarf and some Guinness mugs during our visit. They had some nice rosary beads and costume jewelry for sale. The shirts were average but there was a nice selection. The best part of the shopping experience was when the local cat came in and toured the shop looking for a quiet place out of the rain. The sales clerk was very pleasant.

The staff is welcoming and friendly. We found beautiful Claddagh jewelry and locally inspired paintings, cards and other accessories here. I purchased some magnets and other trinkets at a fair price. He is a bottlenose dolphin that was first documented in the area about 32 years ago and lives in close contact to humans. They do not know his age but they do know that the typical life span is up to 50 years. In the shop you will find all of the typical tourist treasures. There is pretty Celtic jewelry, accessories, cards and so mush more for competitive prices. This shop is very much like the other souvenir shops in the area. They all carry the same or similar looking merchandise. What puts this shop above the others is its charm and exceptional customer service.

Utterly gorgeous little shop in a blink-and-you'll-miss-it roadside location in West Cork. They had…read morea little sign up along the way informing us that they had placed second (I think) in the Irish Times "best shop in the country" category, so I thought I'd pull over and have a look in on my way back home after passing through the village of Leap. The shop itself is actually quite large inside, with three separate rooms. Each room is decorated and carefully curated to show their lovely, quality, eclectic stock. It's really a homewares store I suppose, with lots of lovely unique piece. The lady I spoke to (I'm guessing the owner) was extremely friendly and helpful and encouraged us to have a good browse. I literally wanted to buy everything in the shop! She informed us then that they also have a website which you can order from (YAY). 100% worth a look if you are in the area!

If you're looking for that, this is a good stop. I was a little disappointed that they didn't have some of the local fossils, some of which were abundant in the paving stones at the Cliffs of Moher park. In fact, we stopped to buy those--but they are probably not of interest to the types of tourist that this shop is geared towards. I did find a dark chocolate whiskey candy bar here, which I enjoyed. They do have a little coffee shop with desserts and pastries...a bit incongruous with the concept of a rock and gem shop.
