My husband is a collector of many things! Every couple of years, I have to call in the pros to help declutter the house. I booked a 3 hour session with Lauri. Let me tell you, having a stranger come to your place to organize/toss the stuff in your house is a vulnerable position to be in. My internal questions included: "will she judge me?" "will she make fun of me for the stuff I have?" "will she look past my crappy IKEA furniture?" NO WORRIES- Lauri's top of the line. She was patient, never overbearing, and saw right through feeble excuses to keep stuff that I got used to holding on for waaaay toooo long. Have you ever tried to organize your home only to find yourself overwhelmed mid project or distracted (squirrel) by going through keepsakes photos and love letters from our youth? Well that was me. My home wasn't a disaster hoarder home at all, it was just hard to function because I never knew where to find anything and always felt like my apartment was simply too small to house my belongings. It never felt like home. Moving to a bigger place was an option and a possible (expensive) solution that was considered. Well, after months of contemplating, I finally made a decision to get a pro to come help me organize my place. I avoided this at first because, well, it's embarrassing and vulnerable to being someone into your home to go sort through your things (your life) with you. But DON'T be. We all have stuff. So I wanted my entire apartment (tiny) completely overhauled and organized. I reached out to Laurianne and decided that the 6 hour package was best suited for me. (Actually, my sister said to do 6 hours, not 3). In the end, it took a few hours longer than that as we did the entire kitchen, living area, bathroom, walk in closet, extra closet and office area. She suggested prior to appointment not to buy any storage items upfront as we will use any purposeful items I already own first. (Yay, saved $$ there) Now my entire apartment is 100% organized. This means, every item in my apartment has a designated home...one I can remember and which makes sense. My office is one I can finally work out of and be productive. The walk in closet is labeled and categorized efficiently. Before, I didn't have enough space in kitchen cabinets and everything was shoved in and Tupperware would always fly out.
