Been meaning to go here as its burger bun is bio from the great baker round the corner, thus allowing my partner to eat one
So lunch today...
You go in and...yes, its a pub...there is no real menu apart from a small slate...the waitress will tell you its 3 angus beef related burgers or 3 crispy chicken burgers with chips and a ratatouille - all at €15...fish & chips on a Friday. I ordered the cheese & bacon beef, well done
She seemed a bit taken aback when I asked for a glass of red wine and had to ask the barman (who seems to speak English) what there was - a gamay...I guess because there it is usually beer or Guinness
Anyway, I was early, and a steady stream of customers arrived and soon it was fairly full...so popular then...turning to the food
The burger was of course not well done but it was very good indeed...beef, bun, bacon, cheese. It was served in 2 halves, one with all that and the other with mayonnaise, tomato, onion and cornichons...a small bowl for the rat. The rouge was drinkable and went down easily
Various (4-5?) desserts circulated around the other diners...they did look good but frankly I was full so I passed
Paid the man at the bar...he was very friendly; we had a quick chat and he said come back one evening...they have sport on the TVs and it does seem very relaxed and popular...very enjoyable pub lunch; shame there are so few alternatives read more
