Undeterred, I decided to take a stroll around the nursery to see if I could find any hidden gems. As I wandered through the rows of plants, my eyes caught sight of a peculiar sight. Nestled within a 15-gallon plant container, I noticed two black oak seedlings volunteering their presence. They seemed to be thriving amidst the other plants, their delicate leaves dancing in the gentle breeze. It was as if they were calling out to me, begging for a new home. With a sense of excitement and possibility, I approached the nursery staff to inquire about these unexpected discoveries. They seemed surprised, unaware that these resilient seedlings had taken root within the confines of the container. After a brief discussion, the staff kindly give me these little wonders, acknowledging that they could be a special addition to any garden. Carefully, I carried the seedlings to my car, installed them in water. Since the cost was zero, the value was outstanding.

In spite of this place being filled with a lot of crappy items, it had some nice, soft fuzzy socks that my wife instantly fell in love with. For only $10, it's a reasonable price. Three stars so far. 2. Some women with a little girl came in, and the little girl accidentally broke a leg off of a crappy miniature house. I don't know if it was broken in the first place, but let's assume it wasn't. They owner/register guy decided to make the mom & her little daughter feel really bad about it, so they left. He wanted to make them pay for the item, but they had left too quickly. When my wife & I came up to buy the socks she wanted, he started to whine about his experience. It's not professional to complain about tourists/customers to other tourists/customers. I honestly don't care about all that drama. Minus one star. 3. He did't carry what we came in for: a bath towel, since we forgot to pack one, and the place where we were staying didn't have an extra one. No big deal. I asked him if he knew anywhere else in town that would sell a bath towel. He thought for a bit, confirmed what I was looking for, and said the only place nearby was WalMart over 15 minutes away down the valley via highway. "Nothing around town," he said. What a liar. I followed a hunch, and one of the only other stores in this midget town (Twain Harte Market, or whatever it's called) sells ALL KINDS of stuff, including full towel sets, bed linens, clothing, etc. To add insult to injury, this place is no more than a couple minutes away, and easily within walking distance. Minus all kinds of stars for that. So, like I said, this place has a few nice items, but from the lame and downright BAD service I received, it should be grateful I can't rate it less than one star. I'm not spending another dime in this store. And if you decide to go inside, you'll probably wonder, as I did, how the heck it can afford to stay in business with all the worthless crap it carries in inventory.

We have actually been trying to get one since May and there was another place that sold carved bears outside the park entrance to Yosemite too. We get a lot of black bears in La Canada being right next to the Angeles National Forest so I think I could add a bear to my landscape at some point. Unfortunately Bear's Den didn't have one that we liked enough. They were too skinny for bears. I want a chubby one like a fake chubby black bear cub that visited us at our South Lake Tahoe Airbnb the first day that we arrived. I will keep hunting for a carved wooden black bear.
